Don Taco Tequila

This cute vegan restaurant was such a find! We ended up just walking in and were lucky enough to find seats and quickly realized how popular this place is and exactly how lucky we were as people were being turned away. Excellent food, great service and loved the vibe of the place.

I may become a vegan as a result of eating the mushroom quesadilla at Don Taco. It was that delicious and satisfying. The texture of the filling felt like I was chewing tender meat and there was a slight crunch that added to the “chewing satisfaction” factor. All of the other dishes we tried were also excellent. In particular, the corn “ribs” appetizer was a unique introduction to the meal and set the stage for the entire dining experience. The service was great and our waiter took the time to explain the ingredients and make recommendations. We were walk-ins so we sat in the small bar area, which had a good vibe to it. Eating here was a memorable experience and we’ll definitely make a reservation the next time we’re in San Miguel.

Just wanted to try their cocktails and we ordered chips. They have some very hot tasty salsa! The cocktails were quite tasty. Great place to bring a vegan friend!

The service was top notch, the mezcal drinks amazing... but the food was the crown. Stunning, 5 star in any city. We had the tacos with chorizo, tostada ceviche, the seta stew and the corn ribs. Holy cow! Chef Eunice Garcia has outdone herself. Get yourself a table and eat the best vegan meal of your life.

Don Tacos in San Miguel de Allende is a gem for vegan dining! I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food is—each dish is flavorful and well-crafted, proving that vegan food can be hearty and satisfying. The atmosphere is modern and welcoming, making it an enjoyable spot for both casual meals and catching up with friends. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. The spicy margarita was amazing as well! Don Tacos is truly a must-visit for anyone looking for a fresh, tasty, and approachable vegan option in SMA!

AMAZING FOOD! It’s a tiny place, with only about 4-5 tables and some bar seating. Cool vibe, friendly servers and DELICIOUS food. We tried 5 items, and everything tasted amazing. Pambazo, Tetelas and 3 tacos - Norteno (mushrooms), Cauliflower and Pastor. SO GOOOOD! Highly recommend this place, especially if you’re vegetarian/vegan.

Everything was amazing! It was so good we ate here twice during our short stay in town and 2 in our party are not vegan. The service was amazing. The servers offered reccomendations and were very knowledgeable about the menu. It's a small place but it's a great vibe. I cannot wait to try their sister restaurant for brunch before we leave tomorrow. La Cabra Iluminada.

Fantastic restaurant in the historic center of San Miguel de Allende. I cannot believe I’ve been to SMA five times and never tried this amazing food before. It’s vegan and full of flavor. My sister would be proud I’m eating vegan this evening! Trust when I say I’ll be back on each of my visits to SMA. It’s a small cozy restaurant and the service is impeccable. Angel helped me through the menu because I wanted to try it all.

The food here is absolutely amazing! I know many people that love this restaurant, they can't believe how good it tastes! The service is very good, very kind staff. They recognize me! And I feel very welcome, like a second home. The vibe is really nice, chill. Plus, the meals are all super filling!

It's a cliche to say this place was great even though it's vegetarian, but it's absolutely true. You would barely notice from the menu, and the food is truly amazing. And, they have a great tequila and cocktail selection too. The service fantastic. It's smallish inside. I'm not sure if they take reservations, but get there early for dinner if you can. I really love this place.

If you're desperate for steak tacos don't come here. It's Vegan. It's hip vegan. It's edgy tattooed cool staff vegan place that is American ex-pats who are more hungry than cool. The sauces are strong and a brilliant margarita. This place I'm told didn't begin making money until it dropped the carne and made itself different. It's carb vegan bomb dishes. Fun and funky but small. The corn nib dish was like eating a fish with bones - in a good way. It might burn some raw tongues but not others.

Don Tacos has incredible food, made with thought and love- which also happens to be vegan. During our 4 day visit to San Miguel de Allende, my boyfriend and I ate here three times, and enjoyed every time better than the last. Angel (who felt like a friend we've known for years) was our waiter, and made us feel so taken care of and walked us through the menu- making recommendations based on our food preferences. Angel even gave us other restaurant recommendations including La Cabra Illuminada (which was fantastic!), and a link to the playlist they play at Don Tacos which we mentioned how much we enjoyed. I highly recommend the guacamole, chicharrito taco and tamale.. 10/10. Don Tacos & Tequila and Angel truly made our time in San Miguel so memorable and allowed me to have that authentic Mexician cuisine experience, minus the dairy and meat. Their food was so delicious, that after our first meal there, my now-fiancé proposed! Was our meal a deciding factor? We'll never know, but I don't think it's a coincidence.

This might be the best vegan taco place on planet earth. If there is a better place, i will fly there. The staff could not be better, as they know the menu frontwards and backwards and take the time to make perfect suggestion. The interior is is like a hipster speakeasy.

This place is a must! Great service, awesome drinks, and the best guacamole! The staff really know their stuff this was our favorite stop in San Miguel!

Lovely, small cozy café with delicious vegan food and a lovely host/waiter. I had dinner by myself and felt totally comfortable.

Amazing vegan choices. Nice quiet ambience. Especially loved the champiñón taco. The cauliflower taco was a bit disappointing. I can't remember my partners dish, but he loved it. Overall highly recommend.

My second time here and very much enjoyed the margaritas and tacos. Loved the Chichinito tacos. I'll come here again and again.

A FIVE star all around for me! This is a charming, atmospheric restaurant in the heart of San Miguel de Allende with delightful staff. I had no idea this was a vegan restaurant! That said - who knew vegan food could be so delicious?! The presentation was also exquisite. As for the hand crafted cocktails- they were both yummy and beautiful.

Love this place-- great for vegan or non-vegans alike. The flavors of the tacos and the salsa are out of this world. Among the best in the city. Their salsa quad is incredible-- their tomatillo, chipotle, and picante (insanely delicious and spicy) are the standouts. I loved their chicharonnes taco; but the barbacoa and cauliflower tacos are also good. Drinks are solid with a good beer selection.

Drinks are phenomenal! Best I've had in SMA. Food was great also - very flavorful, as many others have mentioned. Taking off a star because service was pretty bad. The bartender was nice and what I think was the manager let us stand at the bar (I say "let" because the others stood either by the door or were suggested to visit neighboring bars) until our table was ready, which ended up being about 30 minutes. It took about another 15 minutes to get menus and another 30 to get chips and salsa. The entire time we were seated we sat with empty cocktail glasses and were never asked if we wanted anything else to drink, how the food was, or if we needed anything. Chalking it off to them being understaffed since the restaurant was definitely busy.

The best tacos I tried in San Miguel de Allende. The Al pastor was so flavorful and tender and the salsas paired perfectly. The service was great - extremely friendly and attentive staff. Nice and dark ambiance. This is a great place for tacos and drinks overall. I would 100% recommend!

Wonderful service. Delicious food. We loved it so much that we went for lunch two days in a row. The oyster mushroom taco is one of the best tacos I've ever had. We tried two different margaritas and both were delicious. The hibiscus and the ginger & lemongrass. SO GOOD! The guac is also amazing as are the four different salsas they bring to the table. And one other thing I loved--they bring a small bowl of lime wedges. Everyone needs a small bowl of lime wedges in their life. Can't wait to go back.

Delicious guava + mint margarita. We loved the nachilos, and the tacos were great. It's all vegan but by no means a light meal. Great choice for dinner or late lunch in San Miguel!

We loved this place and actually came here twice during our visit to San Miguel de Allende. Their margaritas are some of the best I've ever had - perfectly balanced and we could actually taste the tequila. They also have tasty tacos, guacamole and a variety of salsas. All the staff we encountered were very friendly - I would definitely come back when visiting again

We liked it so much we went twice! The Jamaica (hibiscus) margarita is truly special. Their spirulina guacamole is also fantastic. The complimentary chips and salsas (there are four) are unique and addictive. Everything on the menu is vegan. I tried two different tacos and wasn't crazy about either. But the guacamole and margaritas and salsas more than make up for it.

Stopped by while I was in San Miguel de Allende after seeing great reviews on the Happy Cow app. I should also mention that I brought my non-vegan family to eat lunch as well. We tried the tacos al pastor (soy) as well as the cochinita pibil (jackfruit) which were both delicious!!! The agua de Jamaica was delicious as well. Take note: the tortillas are regular sized, so be mindful when ordering so as to not over-order. I only ordered 2 tacos and was more than satisfied. The restaurant itself is cozy and modern, with the right touch of Mexican decor. The waiters are all very knowledgeable and attentive. The menus are also both in Spanish and English. Overall I cannot wait to return to try more of their tacos.

Simply Mind blowing! I came here on complete accident, had no idea it was vegan vegetarian whatever it is! The point is my meat eating ass loved every bite! Wow, this place has completely changed my opinion of hippy food. I kid you not, these are the best tacos in San Miguel! I ate, el pastor, cochinita & campesino. Amazing! I'm coming back tomorrow without a doub

We liked it so much, we ate (and drank!) here two days in a row. The ginger Margarita with Mezcal is amazing. I tried all the Margaritas: guyaba, jamaica and they all were amazing! An all vegan restaurant in San Miguel de Allende?!? What? Is this an alternate universe? Many gluten free options, too! We ate a variety of tacos, chips & 4 kinds of salsa and guacamole. Everything was great. The service was 5 star and attentive & friendly. I'm hoping to try the entire menu before we leave. I'm pretty sure we'll be back every day!

My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding and found this place on Yelp! WOW!!!! By far one of the best places we ate at in San Miguel de Allende. My boyfriend had the al pastor tacos and did not even know they were vegan tacos!! Can you believe that? He loved them so much. It was not until the very end that we found out this place is all vegan so I decided to order a al pastor taco for myself since I have never had a real one. Everything about this place was amazing. The food, the service, the decor, the drinks. I can't wait to go back on our next trip!

We went here 3 times on our 5 days vacation! Everything is amazing! I will never forget it and i will definitely will go back! Best Chips and Guac! BesT Cocktails! Best Tacos! ambiance is cool and the staff are very nice! Shout out to our waiter Ariel...Thank you! Highly recommended!

Let me start off by saying my husband and I are not vegan or vegetarian and this was by far one of the best places that we ate at in San Miguel. We both agreed that we have never had a guacamole as great as the one we tried there and the tacos and drinks were just as delicious.

Great vegan food, tastes as good as it looks. The menu had very creative dishes, and the drinks were awesome.

Once we were sitting down in here we realized it is VEGAN... but these tacos are amazing. We chose two each along with drinks. They were so creatively put together and despite the fact they come with four different flavor dipping sauces, they require none for flavor. They require no seasoning of any kind. This place is a cool spot with very helpful waiters and fantastic prices. We sat at the window and watched the people go by. What fun. We will definitely return here during our stay. And if you are in San Miguel do not miss this cool spot with excellent food. It's a nice way to relax out of the sunshine and you do not have to dress up.

Omg so amazing! Drinks and food were absolutely fabulous in taste and presentation! Loved the tacos and the Spirulina Guacamole! My favorite tacos were the ceviche mushroom!

We read all the reviews beforehand and knew going in that this would be a vegan restaurant, but were still curious about all the hype. The sign outside is a little unsuspecting and we almost passed by the restaurant without noticing. However, once inside, this restaurant did not disappoint! After asking our waiter for his recommendations, I ordered the Norteño and Nayarita tacos and both were delicious. The Norteño was my favorite between the two, but if you don't like mushrooms, you probably won't like this one. I also ordered the Guayaba and Mente Margarita which was so refreshing on a hot day and the perfect sweetness level. Also part of the meal were chips and dips/sauces and the chips were so good we couldn't stop eating them, long after we were full. If you're in the area, this place is definitely worth a try!

To my dismay the menu is meatless. I'm definitely a carnivore. My wife and I ate here and will return again and again. The cauliflower taco is outstanding. YOU WILL NEVER KNOW THE PASTOR TACOS WERE MEATLESS! Highly recommend. They make a perfect drinks to go along with your meal, and the staff is super cool.

Every year I come here first thing for their guacamole and a sangrita (tequila with tomato based side chaser). Best in SMA

Delicious. Amazing appetizers such as a cold cactus salad with garbanzo beans and asparagus, a corn soup with 3 types of corn and amazing non alcoholic drinks too. The tacos are delicious and we will definitely be back. Very creative vegan food. We loved it. I would suggest the Al Pastor tacos.

Fabulous vegan tacos with plenty of options. The Nogales were amazing and all 3 tacos that I tried I would eat again. This is the most reviewed vegan place in SMdA on yelp so there's really nothing I can say that hasn't already been said except we took our non vegan friends and they loved everything they ate. Go in with an open mind and you won't be disappointed.

I was pleasantly surprised with the food and drinks from this place! Went there for a casual dinner and as soon as I walked in I was greeted by the host who sat me down. They brought complimentary chips and salsa (4 different types of salsas). I ordered 2 tacos, the first one was their most popular one Don Taco which was a ribeye steak with flamed cheese with tequila... OMG, the taco was something else!! I was delighted with this taco that I wished I had ordered 2 of the same. My second taco was a flank steak taco with cactus and pico de gallo which was also good and fresh but the first taco was even better. I opted for the guava margarita which was made fresh in front of me... starting with the muddling of the guava and the fresh lime juice. It was very refreshing that I had to order a second one as well. I will highly recommend the tacos from Don Tacos as well as the margaritas if you ever want a good but quick meal!

The salsa, the tacos, the tequilla and the service are all outstanding. One of my favorite spots in San Miguel. The Ensalada is a great Charon salad. All of the designer tacos are outstanding so be sure and keep coming back until you have sampled the entire menu.

Estos tacos estan poca madre. Honestly, best vegan tacos I've ever had. And I live in Austin, Tx. Although to be fair, I'm from Mexico City, which is why Tex-Mex leaves a lot to be desired. These tacos and salsas had more flavor than most tacos I have *with meat*. Truly an experience to be had... even if you're not a full-time vegan.

Nice place succeeding in innovating without trying too hard, with very reasonable prices. Very nice interior design suitable for escaping a hot & busy Sunday in SMA Centro. A young vibe seen in the innovative Mexican based menu, in the atmosphere, music and in the design of the place. Some dishes come out real well while some don't quite make it. Tacos: Pastor - nice twist using the sweet pineapple taste. Morteño - very nice veggie take - with mushrooms dominant taste, and a double wrapping of cashew cheese and tortilla. Mayahuel - another veggie take - using lettuce instead of tortilla - wrapping a juicy filling of mushrooms. Guacamole - thick and rich. Lacks a bit of juiciness to my taste (maybe cause of the Spirulina that is mentioned as added but not felt?!) Cold avocado "soup" - more like a shake. Too sweet and too thick to be called a soup.

Super happy hour two for one super creative and delicious margaritas! I have been here a number of times and the food has been stellar every time. I am not a vegetarian, but it doesn't matter. The food is so flavorful, you will be coming back again and again.

AMAZING all-vegan menu! We ate here three times while we were visiting, and every single meal was a delight. From the tacos (of course!) to the soups and potato tarts... and don't forget the cocktails! The desserts were excellent too. The staff were so friendly, and told us about how they used to have an omnivore menu but after the owner himself became vegan, he decided to switch the restaurant to an all-vegan menu. Definitely visit this place if you love great vegetarian and vegan food, and want to support a restaurant that is making a difference and making incredible food too.

This place is easy to miss, which would be a pity. They serve amazing veggie Mexican food, the service is friendly and efficient (the servers speak excellent English) and the vibe is perfect. This was one of the few places we returned to in our 2 week stay in SMA. BTW, it's worth making a reservation as it's small and can get crowded.

My favorite spot in San Miguel de Allende by far. So much so, we returned three times during the 5 days we spent in town. Tried nearly every taco on the menu and each was better than the last. Still dreaming about it and it will be my first stop upon my return!
