We visited Doña Salta for dinner. The Carbonada was a big tasty dish, and some wonderfully barbecue chicken with mashed creamy potatoes. The meat empanadas were outstanding and small. Dessert was a mixed sweets with goat cheese and walnuts. Very nice indeed. The service is fast and efficient.

After visiting El Chalten, El Calafate and Ushuaia where prices are ridiculously higher than EU, relieved to find that prices are significantly lower in Salta and also in this restaurant. As I wanted to try something traditional, I had the meat and cheese empanadas, locro and tamales. The meat empanadas was better than the cheese. As for locro and tamales, it is something that is worth a try and I won't have it again, not in a bad way. The locro is a hearty dish with corn, beans and meat. The tamales is a corn dish with meat fillings. It is a big place but did not feel overly crowded after 9pm.

We walked into Doña Salta with genuinely high hopes, ready for a fantastic meal, but left feeling utterly let down. Honestly, it was a pretty disappointing experience from start to finish. First off, let's talk about the food. We ordered the Carbonara, expecting that classic, rich, and hearty dish. What we got was shockingly bland and had almost no meat in it. It was a real letdown and definitely not what you'd expect for a proper Carbonara. Beyond the food itself, the prices were also much higher than we anticipated, especially considering the quality we received. When you're paying a premium, you expect premium food and service, and Doña Salta just didn't deliver on either front. To make matters worse, the service left a sour taste. Our server was quite aggressive about the tip, which frankly just made us uncomfortable. It's one thing to offer good service and hope for a tip; it's another entirely to be so pushy about it. And just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, they charged us for "cubiertos" (a cover charge for bread). Not only did we have to pay extra, but they even charged the kids for it, and the bread itself was rock hard and clearly not fresh. It felt like a slap in the face to be charged for something so unappetizing, especially for the whole family. All in all, Doña Salta was a pretty big miss for us. Between the subpar food, the surprisingly high prices, the awkward service, and that stale bread – even for the kids – it just wasn't the enjoyable dining experience we'd hoped for. We definitely won't be returning.

Great. Maybe the best empanadas I had in Argentina (and I been to Corte Comedor and Elena in Buenos Aires) and Locro was absolutely amazing. Also: They don't accept tips for the service in card. So take some pesos with you to tip de service.

We had a very good experience eating here. We wanted to try some local dishes from Argentina and couldn't decide which ones so took all of them. We tried the Locro, Cazuela de Cabrito, Sorrentinos con Tuco and Matambre and all were very good!! Our favorite was by far the Matambre! We also had the Turron Salteño and Cuaresmillo as dessert. First one was good but not our favorite dessert (personal taste) and the Cuaresmillo was really good!! The service was also really good and they answered all our questions and were very friendly and helpful! Would really recommend this place!!

Empanadas were tasty although small, we tried the carne and queso ones. Tamales were good and the turron salteno was pretty decent. Service was great!

Another steak dinner, caller Matombre - I think. The waiter Maximilian was so helpful as we could not read the Spanish menu and we wanted something different. It certainly was - a very tenderised steak - probably skirt - but slow cooked with chimichurri sauce on top.

Google
I had chicken milanesa and salad. The milanesa was extremely salty so I asked for another one with no salt, waited 20 minutes for another milanesa, when I got it I expected a milanesa with no salt. Sadly I got a milanesa with the EXACT SAME AMOUNT OF SALT. The salad was good though

Yelp
On point! Went twice last weekend for two different experiences. The first was to try the steak and the second to go empanadas and tamales. While the steak was good and flavorful I have to say their tamales and empanadas are the best I have had. Their prices are only quite good. If your in Salta you gotta get ready to wait in line to enjoy this restaurant. Try to arrive at 8 to avoid the line.

Yelp
This is a really nice restaurant. The servers are dressed as gauchos and the interior looks like a rustic ranch or something like that. It's the perfect place for a tourist to eat dinner in Salta. My friends and I came to eat here for dinner. They open for dinner at 8p. It's a big restaurant. We knew we wanted empanadas. They have four kinds: carne, queso, pollo, and charqui (dried salted beef). The empanadas are really really good here. The carne is the best one in my opinion. The pollo was good, but just a tad dry. And the charqui was also good, but a little too salty. Queso was good too. But the carne is the star. They offer a bunch of local cuisine, like tamales, humitas, locro, and cazuela de cabrito (goat stew). They also serve pastas. I wanted to try the goat stew, so that's what I ordered as my main. And it was delicious. The meat was super tender. The stew was flavorful. There were carrots and potatoes in it. A lot of bones. I was stuffed after eating all of the stew and 3 empanadas. My friends and I went back the next evening for more empanadas! And I tried the bife de chorizo which was tasty. It only comes with meat, a tomato slice, and a piece of lettuce. Sides like potatoes are extra. The place has great character and ambiance. The menu is in English too. Service is great. But they don't take credit card. Only debit cards or cash. And they tack on a service fee of 12 pesos per person. The place isn't super expensive, but it's not cheap either. Mid-range. The empanadas are also slightly more expensive at 13 pesos, when other places charge 10 pesos.

Yelp
A taste of local cuisine. We ordered 4 different stews, and they were all delicious. The food is hearty and rustic, and packed full of flavor and texture. I especially enjoyed the goat stew with generous chunks of meat. Simple stews start at 105 pesos, going up to 180 pesos for the meaty one like the goat or rabbit. The steak (bife de chorizo, 180 pesos) was beautifully charred and actually came out to medium doneness when we asked for medium. Great place and worth a visit from the usual meat and pizza centric restaurants.

Yelp
Wonderful place to take family to dinner. Warm interesting decor. Really excellent service despite language gap. Best Empanadas of the trip. And so far the best steak, tender, moist and perfectly cooked. I tried Locro, a hearty stew with pork and veal, on recommendation of a local. It was a very large portion and was very good, but it seemed more of a winter dish and I wish there was more flavor/spice. Another person tried the rabbit stew which was very good and more flavorful, though be warned the rabbit is served on the bone in the stew. The most expensive wine on the entire list was under $20 (at exchange rate of 38 per dollar) and we had a very nice Malbec that all enjoyed. Desserts were also good, though the bread pudding would have been better served warm.

Yelp
Great food but macho service. Food is great, I can mostly recommend humita and empanadas. However the service barely paid attention to me as a woman, they kept on serving my boyfriend first, gave him the bill, didn't pay attention when I was calling and that drove me insane.

Yelp
Nice ambiance and good service. Food was just ok and the wine list was unremarkable. Stay away from the locro, I make one better

Yelp
Great, fast service. Delicious empanadas and an excellent selection of local wine. You can tell they are proud of their home in Salta and we enjoyed trying something new here - cabrito!

Yelp
Such a great meal! Enjoyed the rabbit stew and the humitas tremendously. Great service and great atmosphere. A must-eat if you are in Salta.

Yelp
Great empanada! And authentic traditional stews. Many other things but those were what we had for a lite afternoon lunch. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Good service, good food. Tamales were amazing and empanadas as well. They charge 20 pesos for the service.

Yelp
Wonderful Salta cuisine. At first appears a bit touristy with waiters dressed as gauchos but service is prompt and one of the best steaks I've had.
