They served six banchan, and the best part is you can request refills, which was a nice touch. The nengmyun portion was generous, though I found it a bit bland for my taste. However, the spicy Korean pork was delicious – perfectly seasoned. Overall, a good dining experience.

Service was great, friendly servers. Food was average or less. Had the Bimbap bowl, and it was just flat. Sushi looked old and lifeless. It wasn't horrible but with so many choices in town, not sure we'd go back.

Went here with a party for the Korean BBQ without knowing too much beforehand. When we got here, we learned about the "all you can eat" (AYCE) option and opted for that instead, and we were not disappointed. The AYCE comes with a sheet that you check off what you want delivered and you have 1.5 hours until they kick you out (obviously, you cannot take anything home and get charged if you order too much without eating it). Unlike other restaurants I have been too, the AYCE comes with a CRAZY amount of high-quality options, including their sushi, sides, appetizers, and soups, that can come to your table and share amongst your party. Of these perhaps my favorites were the miso soup, chicken wings, and bibimbap, though there were many we did not order. I personally did not like the sushi we had, but some people did. But the main course is obviously the meats, which you can order 5 of (at once) for your table. We tried most of the standard beef and pork options, of which my favorites were the marinated sirloin (by far) and also the spicy pork bulgogi. There was a large variety between the meats, so it was interesting to try different ones. Along with all the sauces, it was very easy to have each bite be a bit unique, though I do wish they had a larger variety of sauces available. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and also the experience, as I never really had the much variety of high-quality foods before. The one negative (besides the sushi for me) that I would mention is that the service felt a bit slow at times, especially for the meats which took time to cook so felt essential to have that quick. However, some parts we ordered did come quick, so that did keep us satisfied. BTW, the popsicles at the end are a very nice finisher!

I cannot rave enough about this restaurant and the service! Superb!! They're always so respectful and kind. The food is authentic!! So delicious! The atmosphere is chill and not too busy. Everytime we eat here, we always have a wonderful experience.

It didn't seem busy. Took 10 minutes to be seated...another 15 to get my order taken. At that point I had lost faith & contemplated leaving to eat elsewhere. I didn't listen to my gut. Ordered a sushi roll. It tasted...just okay. I will not return.

Great service and very chill place to eat lunch or dinner. My partner and I tried their All You Can Eat (AYCE) option which is $45 per person. It was well worth the money for us both because we got to try more dishes instead of buying the full plates individually. Japchae was delicious with strong mushroom flavoring and soft tofu stew was balanced with seafood broth. The pork belly, galbi, beef bugolgi, and NY steak were all tender and well-flavored. They have little bells by each table so you don’t have to wait for servers to come to you. Our servers were very patient and explained the ACYE option for us. You can order as much as you can eat, otherwise you will be charged for excessive leftovers. We were so full, we didn’t have room for desserts which are also included.

My fiancée and I LOVE Dong Hae. This is one of the first restaurants we visited once we moved to the cities, and we visit at least once a month (unashamedly). We went here for Valentine’s Day, and have even brought our family here. A few of our favorite things are their Korean BBQ wings, fried dumplings, Crazy Girl sushi roll (we get one EVERY time), Beef Teriyaki, Korean Sweet and Sour Chicken their noodle/ramen dishes.. so many great things. Not only the consistency of excellence, but my fiancé is allergic to shellfish and we’ve never experienced issues with cross-contamination. The staff is always welcoming, kind, and quick to help. We love Dong Hae and will definitely be returning❤️

If there is one restaurant in Minneapolis with some of the best Asian fare that provides not only All You Can Eat (AYCE) and Korean BBQ (KBBQ) in a single setting Dong Hae is a cut above the rest. Its typical to find either one individually In some places for $50 alone but for $45 a person with a DEEP menu of starters, sides, meats, and sushi you'll walk in thinking you're going to need to come back for another round but don't feel surprises when you struggle just to make it thru your first order. My wife and I took our 2 oldest boys for our son's 21st birthday after never having tried KBBQ and he was thoroughly impressed. For those who have never been before its a little tricky to find the entrance but once you make it inside there is plenty of seating and room at the table (even with the grill) to fill up! From the 4 massive sushi roles to cooking through all of the meats after our starters of gyoza and tempura plus the flavorful chili sauce on the chicken wings, and the fried rice was easily large enough for 2 to split. The service was prompt and the staff attentive, and with the reasonable costs (be warned about the Minneapolis sales tax and automatic gratuity for AYCE) even living in the south suburbs this was well worth the trek into the city for an amazing meal for a special occasion.

Yelp
AYCE for Korean BBQ and sushi for $49 and definitely worth it in my opinion! Walked in without a reservation on a Saturday evening. Plenty of tables available and lots of parking on the street. The place was pretty full by the time we left. The restaurant is huge with a good ambiance. Clean and not too loud. Bathrooms are a small journey to get to. They are shared bathrooms and on the lower level. Staff were attentive and kind. There was a call button on our table, but we never needed it. If you opt for AYCE, you mark your choices on a sheet of paper. You're given some marinated tofu, broccoli, tofu, kimchi, sprouts, greens to begin with. We ordered beef bulgogi, spicy pork, pork belly, and brisket. I probably could have done without the brisket or pork belly. Brisket dried out super fast and the pork belly was a little too fatty. Also ordered gyoza, fried rice, black bean noodles, seaweed salad, and a shrimp tempura roll. All were delicious, but we ended up with far too much food for just two people. At the end we were given ice cream. It was individually wrapped so we took it to go since we were so full. I'd definitely return again in the future!

Yelp
For my birthday my son-in-law suggested that we try Dong Hae Korean Grill. So we did. Parking for me was a cinch since we parked on the street, BUT for my son who attempted to park in the lot just west of the restaurant it was a debacle -- $50 for event parking despite the fact that the Vikings game was over 3 hours previously... *eye-roll* Then, you can't figure out how to enter the place since it's on the second floor and when you FINALLY realize that you need to go around to the rear/side door you climb the steps only to be greeted with "NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS" on the door. And STILL no sign indicating that you're at the right place. Then the host desk is inside and around the corner to the right.... JEEZ they make it hard to get in... then they didn't even have our reservation for 6 plus a high chair. With all of that, I had ZERO hopes that we'd enjoy the evening, but I was wrong. We really did have a good time. We ordered the beef and pork combo with sides, a kimchi pancake, and fried dumpling thingy. We cooked the meat ourselves on the tabletop grill and it all became an event. A fun event. The marinated pork was our favorite then the marinated been rib and we all ate our fill! For 6 adults the bill came to just over $200 and that included the 18% gratuity already factored in. I'll be back!! (Just park on the street...)

Yelp
The all-you-can-eat buffet offers Japanese sushi and Korean BBQ. The price is very reasonable. The sushi is quite good, and the BBQ offers a wide variety of ingredient options. The beef short rib is the best! The side dishes are wonderful and authentic. The waiters and waitresses are very welcoming. They introduced us to the authentic Korean dishes and explained the best way to eat them. The environment is suitable for family dining and hanging out with friends. You need to pay for parking outside their parking lot, but $4 is not bad at all for parking in Minneapolis.

Yelp
Easy to see, hard to get to. Has signage on the front of the building, but so do 2 other restaurants, which have entrances on the ground level, in front. Dong Hae's entrance is on the right/back, 2nd floor, and doesn't have any signage nearby! Practically empty at 1 pm on a Tuesday; one party was leaving as I entered. I ordered the special $15 Dong Hae roll with beef bulgolgi inside. I was intrigued by the fusion of Korean and Japanese. I also ordered a classic Dragon roll, at $14. Ordered to go and when I got to my hotel room and opened up the package, the sauces had begun to leak out and make a mess in the bag. The rolls are huge, bigger than one bite for most people. Dragon roll flavor was good; bulbolgi is stuffed inside the Dong Hae roll and could use more flavor. It makes it overwhelmingly whimper. Rhe sushi rice is a little too moist. $29 for two rolls -- that's the going price these days, but I can see why it was empty for lunch. Maybe some lunch specials would help.

Yelp
For authentic KBBQ in Minnesota, this is the place to go. If you love Korean food and meat, the AYCE is the choice to make. Note this review is based on the limited Korean food offerings in Minnesota. Don't expect the same flavors of what you'd get in LA, TX, or Chicago. But if you're craving KBBQ, Dong Hae will do it for you without travel ;). Located off Washington, walking distance between US Bank stadium and the Guthrie. Small parking lot but lots of metered street parking. Before I get to the food, here's what I appreciate: they take reservations, they have grills at the tables, fairly large space, a chime at our table to call our server, and our server Eunice was fantastic. Ok now onto the food... I really loved that they offer such a variety of Korean food outside of just grilled meat such as appetizers, Korean stews, and noodles. All were good, spice level was definitely tempered for more the MN palate. For me, I would have preferred more spice and pungency (iykyk). But again, we're in MN. As part of the AYCE, we tried everything, but ordered only one of each (non meat) item just to taste and share first since we didn't want to get too full. We were warned that they have a charge for wasted food. Rather than rate every dish, here's a list of what we would order again at our next visit: 1) bibimbap 2) grilled mackerel 3) jajang myun 4) chicken wings 5) soybean stew (if you like a bit of pungency and umami) 6) spicy squid stir fry For meats, this is all that we ordered. Would definitely order it again. 1) LA Kalbi 2) pork belly (non marinated) 3) NY strip steak 4) brisket 5) spicy pork bulgogi We also had the sushi but to be honest, the star of the dinner was the grilled meats. What you should know: 1) surcharge of 4% for credit cards 2) 18% gratuity for AYCE 3) charge for wasted food (no worries on our end because we ate it all) 4) ask for the Korean Melona bar (Korean ice cream bar) for dessert Come hungry and enjoy!

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in today around five and it wasn't busy so we were seated quickly. This location was a little difficult for us to find but it is located on the second floor facing the paid lot. Our first experience here was really nice, Lee was a very personable waiter and was very helpful with the ins and outs of using the grill. I loved the Tteokbokki and all the sides that came along with the BBQ. I want to come back again and try the jjajangmyeon!

Yelp
We came here for a pre-concert dinner. This is my first foray into Korean BBQ, and overall it was quite enjoyable. Parking is on the street, or there is free parking next to the restaurant in the evening. The restaurant was clean well designed. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The food came out to our table really quick. I mean really really quick. we were barely settled in and chatting after placing our order and our food came out. I am not sure if I ever said this about a restaurant, but it was a bit too quick. The food overall was fine. The Nigiri we ordered seems pretty fresh. I can't recall what my dining companions ordered but it was cooked well and was well balanced. I had ordered the Braised Beef Ribs. This entree was mostly a failure. While the sauce and vegetables and other accouterments were good; The beef was sooo chewy. The connective tissue you find in the ribs was not broken down in the braise. That meat needed another 60 to 90 minutes in the braise. So dropping $40.00 on this and getting this entree served to me in its state, was a disappointment. I would hit it up again to try some of the other entrees and give this place another chance.

Yelp
Overall good; and a place to visit at least once. I enjoyed the easy parking - although you do have to pay for it. We did the bbq - which was good; except we added a side of marinated pork and we didn't realize we got unmarinated pork and was really disappointed about it. The marinated beef options were all very good; . Not a fan of the marinated chicken. Side dishes were a hit or miss; there were some I wish I knew what they were called to make it! It was very expensive. What you see was about $170.

Yelp
I came in literally on a whim and just was immediately greeted by kindness. The atmosphere is very modern, business casual. The restaurant serves Korean bbq and has a great sushi selection. I chose the chef's choice and i was not disappointed. The number of nigiri and the roll chosen was exquisite. Not to mention the side dishes were superb, i really enjoyed the potato and the fish cake. I will definitely return and try the Korean bbq.

Yelp
We happened upon this place while looking for a place to get out of the cold and we were pleasantly surprised. Despite its mediocre review, it had many food options and friendly service. We ordered the spicy chicken bibimbap and kimchi soup, and both came out hot and fresh. Our server was happy to answer our many questions as well as checked on us frequently. The ambiance was a bit lacking as there is no aesthetic, but the place was clean and well cared for.

Yelp
Solid place for Korean grilled meats and dishes. I love the kalbi, kimchi tofu stew and bulgogi. The japchae is great too, though a little on the sweet side. And they always have a good assortment of side dishes. You can either choose to grill your own meats, which is fun with a group, or order a precooked dish. They also have a full sushi bar and sake offerings. And an all you can eat option of a good selection of Korean dishes and sushi for $35/pp, which is a good deal if you're hungry and want variety. Everyone at the table has to take part of this. The sushi is decent. I've been on days where it's good and days where the rice was over cooked and dense. And their soy sauce is oddly thick. But the fish has been fresh and the rolls flavorful. The Korean food is more consistent. Service is friendly and food comes out fast.

Robby M.

Yelp
Authentic kerosene food. The banchon was customary as expected and they were willing to make my dish vegetarian. Good vibes.
google avatar

Yelp
AYCE. Surprisingly good quality for the korean side. All the meat was really good. Sushi side was not presented beautifully but was good. Better then a Chinese buffet/sushi place. The star of the evening was our server Eunice. She was very attentive and fun.

Yelp
We stayed across the street and was excited to find a Korean restaurant across the street. Not sure why there are a lot of low ratings but my experience both times were pretty great! It is hard to find the entrance and was confusing at first but you have to go to the other side and up the stairs to find the entrance. When you walk inside, it's clean, bright, and the customer service was great! Both times, the waitresses were so sweet! Especially the first one! I grew fond of the potatoes soaked in a sweet, chili sauce and she was so sweet and refilled them each time for me! The portion sizes are huge and I do like it's both Korean food and also sushi! They have AYCE options for both but we knew we couldn't stomach all of that food so the first time, I had kimchi jjigae (kim chi stew with pork. tofu, and bean sprouts, green onions, and rice), and a type of bulgogi sushi roll with cream cheese, avocado, and cucumber. They were both delicious! I enjoyed the stew very much but it wasn't spicy. I love spice but it was still very good! The sushi roll was delicious but the bulgogi meat was kind of tough. Still enjoyable though. The sushi roll was massive and rolled perfectly! I also ordered Tamago (sweet egg) nigiri and for two of them, it was worth the price! They were almost the side of my palm! My coworker got the sizzling bimbimbap with beef bulgogi and she finished it all. I appreciate that they give alot of ban chan (side dishes) and they rotate each day. The first day, I had fish cakes, bean sprouts, kim chi, potatoes (my favorite), radishes, etc. The second time, I had potato salad, macaroni salad, kim chi, radishes, fish cake, etc. The potato salad and macaroni salads were outstanding as well! The second night, we went with a group of us and I ordered the Galbi short ribs. The ribs were tender, juicy, and the flavor was great but a little too sweet for me. It was a good amount for the price of $30ish and it came with rice and all the side dishes as well. I found myself having to give away some of it since it was a hefty portion! All of my coworkers enjoyed their foods and raved about how delicious everything was. One coworker who never had Korean food before was doing her happy food dance after she tried the spicy beef bulgogi! She said the flavors were really good and she would come back again! The price is on the pricier side so expect to spend a little bit of money here. The soju and sake are overpriced as well. Usually a bottle of soju costs like $4-5 dollars in the markets and here they double that amount or even triple. I would skip the alcohol and just order the food. They do an upcharge if you want to refill your ban chan (just a FYI). I would go here again as the service was really good and everyone was super friendly. Our drinks were always refilled and we were checked on constantly. The portion sizes are good too but it can get expensive, depending on what you order.

Yelp
Had high expectations for this place considering that Korean food options are very scarce here. The Korean food was decent in terms of quality. The sushi was not bad either but the nigiri options all had WAY too much rice. This is the part that really got to me. Nowhere on the menu does it say the cost of the drinks at this place. I had 2 Shirley Temples and ended up paying $24!!! I don't know about you but paying $12 for a soda is insane and extremely misleading. I would honestly give 3 stars just on this fact alone but I'll leave at this since it would be nice to have more Korean representation in Minnesota. Overall, this is a fun spot to hang out and eat but be very wary of pricing.

Yelp
Wouldn't suggest. Find someplace else. The service and the prices weren't worth my time or energy. I've been here twice now and think that the prices are high, service is awful, and food is decent at best. My last time was for a birthday party, and we chose sushi instead of Korean BBQ. I ordered a volcano roll. The roll that came out was smothered in mozzarella cheese and had been baked. After reviewing the menu again it was a baked California roll. When I clarified with the server he went and told another older service man (seemingly the sushi chef). This older man stormed over to our table with a menu and started yelling at me about how it was the right roll that I ordered and etc. He was rude unkind and I felt disrespected. Our main server came back and asked if he was mean to me, and when I said yes he apologized. It had already been established that they wouldn't be charging me for my sushi roll that I didn't re-order. I decided to get food elsewhere after all. The minimum was to not charge me for a roll I didn't eat. There was nothing more than that. It was a big party and could tell people were stressed, but there is NOTHING that would deserve being yelled at by the sushi chef when I point out that I was brought the wrong roll. Cleanliness was questionable as there was an ant crawling on my napkin when we arrived.

I love eating here for special occasions. The environment and music they play is nice. Service is fast and great. The food is a 10/10!

Yelp
KBBQ in the Twin Cities is like calling up your toxic ex. In the back of your head, you know there's nothing that's going to measure up to the KBBQ you'd had outside of the cities, but god dammit do you have a craving. And you know you're going to walk away juuuust a little disappointed in what you get, but dammit there's no other options, so you give in. That's basically what eating KBBQ in the Twin Cities is like - scratches the itch, but still leaves you a little bit empty inside because you know it could have been better but there's no other option. I think all things considered, Dong Hae is a fine option for KBBQ, but their prices are pretty high for what you get - both for quality and portion. Easily, a large combo can feed more than 4 people, especially if you are ordering other dishes alongside the meat, although they will always recommend you to get the larger combo if you have more than 2 people in your party - use your best judgement. All in all, it's good for the experience - service is fine, although the entrance itself is a bit hidden. You have to go up stairs to the second floor, which the entrance and stairs are on the side of the building if you're coming off of Washington Ave. The bathrooms are also located in a shared building, and sometimes not really well maintained - toilets not working or out of toilet paper is a common occurrence, so come prepared. Still, it's a fun time to come and eat and drink somaek with some friends - just set your expectations accordingly.

Yelp
AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I will definitely be coming back in the near future. We got the Korean Wings, Sweet and Sour Pork, Kimchi Pancakes, Sizzling Chicken Bibimbap and it was absolutely to die for. The music was amazing and our severs Lee and Isabell were amazing to talk to and hilarious. I would definitely check it out if you're looking for some good Korean food.
google avatar

Yelp
I've always had a super fun time here! It's a bit pricier than some other local AYCE sushi places, but I love that they have both a Japanese and Korean menu for the AYCE options. It's also nice that they have paper slips to order from so that you can mark down and remember what you want to order. My absolute favorite here is the japchae, I order it every time!
google avatar

Andrew P.

Yelp
Good spot for aycec Korean and Japanese food. First time getting both on same ayce menu. Service was fast and friendly. The best item ordered was the bibimbap. Fair price for ayce. I would recommend them.

Yelp
When me and my friends went to this restaurant there weren't that many customers. The servers assisted us super quick and checked up on us periodically. They were all super nice and was able to get the food out to us very quick. The stir fried rice cakes were delicious and had a very wonderful kick to them and the spicy pork had the perfect char on them. I would definitely recommend these two dishes to other people and I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
We always drive by here, so we decided to finally stop and check it out. I'm glad we did. We did not have a reservation but they were able to accommodate us anyway. Loved the Korean atmosphere here from the artwork to the grilling meats. I do regret not trying the Korean bbq grilling at the table-but now have something to look forward to (next time Dong Hae!). I did appreciate the staff warning us that the dishes we picked out were spicy, since some customers may not be aware. We were ready for some of that good Korean cuisine! Both the seafood hot bowl Bibimbop & seafood jjongpong were spicy and delicious!

Yelp
The food is delicious but watch the 18% service fee charge! I'm a good tipper to begin with since I worked in the service industry my entire teens. But these fees always get me and not sure how to feel about it. Plus I feel like I should charge them for trying to find the entrance. I hope they use the extra fee to make better signs to help you figure out where to go! Well I guess I should talk about the food. I got a traditional sushi roll and the Korean beef roll. Both were fantastic! My friend across from me got the pork katsu and that looked amazing too! We were served little dishes to start which was a fun game of "what's this?" Since they didn't tell us or explain it and I didn't see it on the menu. Still not sure if it was pickled okra or jalapeño? The service was good and our water glasses got refilled. It's easy to get a week night table because it's spacious with lots of seats. We went there before going to the Guthrie.

Yelp
Dong Hae has moved to the Mill District! We are super excited because this restaurant is now just a 10 minute walk from us, and we have already gotten takeout three times since they opened. We like both the sushi and the Korean dishes...while there are a couple restaurants that do Korean food better in the Twin Cities, Dong Hae is definitely up there for quality. The Korean bento boxes are a great value, and come with the main dish, "bonchon" sides of veggies and either potatoes or another starch, and a huge helping of white rice. The sushi is also pretty good. Takeout is super easy and our order has been ready in less than 15 minutes both times. They use online ordering services (like DoorDash). The restaurant is huge, and while we have not eaten inside there yet, we probably will in the future. They have both soju and Korean beer (Hite).

Yelp
This place is hard to find and the door to enter is up the right side of the building. I was in a hurry and asked the waitress what she recommended and I bought all of it. The staff was very friendly and the food was ready in 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, I didn't like the food, which I take full responsibility for given I didn't review what I was ordering. I do plan on going back and giving this restaurant a second visit.
google avatar

Maggie Y.

Yelp
Hard to find the entrance, we ended up going into an Irish pup at first - walk through the parking lot and up the stairs. When we arrived, we were the only ones here for awhile (customer wise). The food was alright, portions were big and staff was friendly. Since we went in the middle of the day, the atmosphere might be better during dinner.

Yelp
I was extremely excited to try another local Korean BBQ place. Maybe my hopes were too high because I was met with disappointment. There are other local Korean BBQ spots like Gyu-Kaku that are more of an experience with a diverse menu and even some wonderful dining packages depending on your group size. The menu at Dong Hae was rather...interesting. I originally had sticker shock looking at their KBBQ menu. Their individual meats ranged from $22-$37/order And their packages ranged from $80-$110. What didn't bother me was the price, it was what you got for those prices. The service was extremely slow, with most of the staff being teenagers who spent a majority of their time on their phones. At most KBBQ restaurants, the meat you are served is already sliced or chopped and ready to be grilled. That was not the case here. We ordered the Ribeye ($35) and the Jumbo Shrimp ($30). The ribeye was not sliced, and was just a ribeye with zero seasoning. The saving grace was the jumbo shrimp that was marinated. They handed us a pair of kitchen shears and were directed to cut up the meat after it had cooked. Those tiny table grills are not suitable to be grilling an entire ribeye. The sides you're given have been sitting on a shelf somewhere in the kitchen and the seaweed had gnats just hanging out on it. This place was certainly not upscale and was absolutely below average. I would not come here again simply because there are better local options at this price point that make it a high quality KBBQ dining experience. Also, be prepared to pay an automatic 18% gratuity (doesn't matter if you're a party of 2) and a 4% convenience fee for paying with a credit card. A hot mess at best.

Yelp
I came here to celebrate my mom's birthday since she was wanting Korean BBQ. This was our second time visiting and the quality of the food was delicious! We got the marinated combo and it was enough to feed 5 people! The food was amazing but I wish it came with more vegetables for the price we were paying. I remember last time we got salads but those were extra pay than last time. One thing that caught me by surprise compared to last time was the additional surcharge for having a party of 5 or more and 18% tip automatically added to the bill. I wish that was placed somewhere on the menu or the website. I'm not sure if I'll be coming back as much due to the increase cost.

Yelp
If you're looking for a dining experience that is a perfect storm of bad food, terrible service, and disrespectful behavior, Dong Hae Korean Grill and Sushi is the place for you. Despite making a reservation for nine people, we were met with rude and dismissive behavior from the manager from the moment we walked in the door. And things only got worse from there. Not only was the food sub par and overpriced, but the manager's behavior was downright appalling. At one point, he came to our table and asked us what we do for a living. When my wife mentioned that we clean restaurants for a living, the manager's smug face immediately turned to one of disdain and condescension. It was clear that he thought we didn't belong there, and he made no attempt to hide his contempt for us. Things only got worse when we questioned the surcharge of 4% and tax rate on our bill (11% for downtown vs 8% in Mpls). Instead of apologizing or trying to help us, the manager started berating me in front of my family. He insinuated that there was something wrong with me for even questioning the tax rate, and his behavior was completely unacceptable. I begged him to stop harassing me in front of my kids. My wife was teary. Overall, this was a terrible dining experience that we would not wish on anyone. The food was bad (the rice was dried and they did not give us many side dishes), the prices were too high, and the service was terrible. And the manager's disrespectful behavior was the final insult that made us feel unwelcome and unwanted. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else where you can enjoy good food and be treated with the respect and dignity that you deserve.

Yelp
First and last time. Came in at 5:15 pm on Saturday. Party of 3. Took 15 minutes to get seated. Not bad. Waited 15+ minutes for someone to come by to take our order. After our order was taken, after another 15 minutes, another server came by to ask if our order was already taken. We told her someone already took our order. 10 minutes later, she came back to apologize, our order was never put through. So she took it. Our dishes came out very slow. Two came out about 6:20pm. Finally got the other two dishes at 6:50. Last two items included a specialty sushi roll and kimbap. The two rows were horribly put together. I was so disappointed. When we were ready for the check, two servers came by and cleaned off our table in 30 seconds. So fast to clean us up, but slow in everything else. Taste was decent. But will go somewhere else for Korean.

Yelp
food was pretty alright but the price was not. very overpriced. our waiter (some skinny asian guy) was even starting to clean up while we were still sitting there too! we haven't even stood up after we paid because we were wanting to catch up and talk. this was after we paid of course. mot to mention he was very rude. the first time we went, we had the same waiter and he tried to charge us the leftover food fee just because we ordered a lot, and he said we couldn't eat that much!! ridiculous. we haven't even gotten out food yet, but he was assuming things. but since he wanted to us pay more, he purposely made our food so much saltier so we could not finish the food. UNBELIEVABLE! we thought to give it another try, but this was the second time now. absolutely terrible service. The same guy asked for our personal information (i was out with my friends for my birthday). Very unprofessional.

Yelp
This is a copy/paste of my review for Dong Hae2 As a person that regularly visits both this location and the first, I'm sad to say that today will be my last time to either of the locations. My husband and I started going to the main location and have become friendly with the waiters/waitresses there. We frequented the business so much that when we visit, they know us. However, as time passed and the more we visited the arden hills location, the service declined and today, we were told that they will not give us an order sheet for the all you can eat until we finished all the food in front of us. It was more of an insult. Being told that put an end to my attempts to come and go back to either locations. Thank you for the time we've come and I'm sorry you will not be on my list of restaurants to visit anymore. Please.... fix Dong Hae 2 for future customers.

Yelp
We came for the all you can eat, and I definitely recommend. For $35/person, it is such a great deal and the food is delicious. The sushi was amazing, and the fish was so fresh. My personal favorite non-sushi item was the pork gyoza, but there was nothing I didn't like. If you're looking for a great dinner to share with friends, I definitely recommend checking out Dong Hae! I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I went new location DongHae yesterday. Food tax is more than 11%?? And also if you pay with creditcard, then they will give you the bill with credit card processing fee. First time ever saw charge on Creditcard fee. Not going back to this restaurant. They just moved the location and trying to ripping off customers' money lol... And the food is just cheap material.. Also if you do Korean BBQ or all you can eat or more than 5 people then they automatically charge you 18% on the bill and say nothing. I guess they just want the double tip?

Yelp
What happened? The sushi is now made so lazy. All the rolls are filled with imitation crab and they're sprinkled with a bunch of salt. The sushi was so salty this past weekend and so were other items like the fried rice. Sprinkled in so much salt. Servers are great as always but the food quality has gone down drastically.

Yelp

Yelp
Love this place for my KBBQ!! The store is perfect for large group events. The food quality is amazing and the staff/service is even better.

Yelp
I had a very unfortunate experience here. The service was the primary issue but the food also was questionable. Mold on some of the vegetables.

Yelp
So glad I didn't take the Yelp reviews to heart on this one. Despite the low ratings, my boyfriend and I have Dong Hae a try anyway. It was oddly empty on a late Saturday night, when I'd expect people to be eating Korean bbq and sushi downtown. The banchan (side dishes) brought out were plentiful and all were nicely seasoned and flavorful. Good sign from the start. My boyfriend's seafood jampong was huge and tasted great! I ordered a chicken yakisoba which was a bit on the salty side but tasted nicely of the wok. Large portions. Prices were fair and as expected when it comes to Korean food.

Yelp
Meats are okay.. But other foods, Cold Noodles and Spicy Bibim noodle were no tasted.. Nothing even we added vinegar and korean wasabi. We left more than half of foods.. They charged $15 per each noodles. Also we ordered Raw Beef, but they added apple instead of pear and too salty. I am not sure if they changed or have new cooks. But we wasted our money for foods except Beef meats. Also they charge 18% tips because we ordered korean BBQ, but they just brought food at the first and never came back to check our table. They do mot care our table because they automatically added tips.. Even they charge 18% after adding 4% credit card fee.. Even I am not sure if they could charge it too..

Yelp
We gave this place two tries and have been disappointed both times. Food is underwhelming and overpriced, and their service sucks. The food is meh: bossam is terrible and dry, and sushi tastes like grocery store sushi. The only redeeming quality is that the KBBQ meat is good quality. They also charge for refill on the side dishes by per side. This is the only Korean restaurant I've ever seen that charges for side dishes like that. We didn't even get much side dishes to begin with (broccoli was 3 tiny pieces). Meanwhile, the other tables around us got different side dishes that actually looked full. It's also difficult to get service from the waitresses to order or ask for anything. It takes forever even to pay the bill Speaking of the bill, they automatically charge 18% gratuity. No wonder the service and food here is so terrible. They get the gratuity regardless of how much effort they put in or not.

Yelp
Make sure you check their price on their menu (online and dine in) and your receipt. We ordered combo marinate meat $85.00 plus one side of scallop. The side of scallop dine in menu and online are $30.00 but when we got the bill it said $36.00. We asked the server and she said " our price has increase and we didn't change the price on the menu" 4 percent surge charge if paid with credit card. 18 percent gratuity is automatically. Surge charge no issue but didn't inform the customer prices has increased then charge after is not ethical. How many people walked out of there that didn't catch extra amount they added it on. They took a lot of stuff out of the combo ( such as salad, side dishes extra at no charge as long as you don't waste it) they charge everything and will not tell you until you received your bill. Be careful and asked.

Yelp
The bibimbap, fried dumplings and heart attack are all of the same quality I've tasted in other Korean restaurants. The restaurant is set up so that other tables' conversations don't interfere with the conversations at your own table. The staff are friendly, but there are a few areas in which they can be more organized. Overall, my friends and I enjoyed the night out.

Yelp
The KBBQ here is quite good, as is the service, but the price point and the other dishes keep Dong Hae at the 3-star "A-OK" mark. Starting with the good: There is free parking after 5pm next door! And the service is very friendly and prompt here. I also appreciate the variety of banchan (small side dishes) that they offer--so many! Though their kimchi isn't some of my fave in the cities. The marinated meats were delicious and our server cooked all of it for us on the tabletop grill. It definitely helps free up time to chat without being the person who constantly has to rotate the meat. However, the soondubu jjigae (Korean soft tofu stew) wasn't very flavorful and was kinda watery, and the happy hour seafood pancake was slightly undercooked, but had a good chew to it. Our meal of 2 al la carte meats + one soup + a HH pancake (smaller and cheaper than the dinner portion) cost over $100, with 18% gratuity already included. That's a little pricey as far as Korean food goes, and considering we didn't order any drinks.

Yelp
Service are bad and food are expensive. Employees are just standing. What a waste of business.

Yelp
I appreciate they gave us side dishes even tho it was a to-go order due to the pandemic. Overall I think the restaurant can use this to improve their food quality. It's overpriced for the effort they cook out.... King king sushi- great! Beef Bibimbap - 8/10 need to make it more flavorful Kimchi pancakes- 8/10 need to make it more flavorful Short ribs soup- 1/10 was very watery and not flavorful. It tasted like they boiled water with the short ribs and added in some red color. It was very diluted. I added a spoonful of salt and that didn't help. Their glass noodle isn't chewy as I expected. This only happens when I put leftover noodles in the fridge and microwave it the next day so not sure if the noodle was fresh..... their meat also didn't taste flavorful- didn't seem like they marinated with salt or anything! Tasted so plain- I was very disappointed...
