Donkey Sanctuary Bonaire

What these people are doing is well above and beyond. These donkeys are well loved and incredibly well cared for. I believe we interacted with the owner/ founder and she is something ! What a strong woman and amazing story of taking care of animals that have taken care of us. Touching, amazing, sweet. We supported thru donation and buying gifts at the shop. I encourage everyone to visit and support these sweet creatures and hard working volunteers

We just returned from our vacation, and Bonaire was a highlight for us. I took the time to read reviews about the Donkey Sanctuary beforehand, and while it’s true that you can see wild donkeys around the island, we really appreciated learning the history of the donkeys and the important work the sanctuary is doing to care for them and help manage overpopulation. It’s important to understand that this isn’t an attraction or amusement park — it’s a place to learn, support the cause, and respectfully interact with the donkeys. We felt the entrance fee was fair and spent a good amount of time petting and enjoying their company. A meaningful and worthwhile stop while visiting Bonaire.

The highlight of my trip. What else could I say? People are fantastic, I had such a nice interaction with Karen. Donkeys are fantastic. Beautiful beautiful place, full of love and respect.

A lovely place to visit on the island. Plan an hour or more. It takes a while to drive through because many of the donkeys want some scratches. You can purchase hay to take with you but be prepared for the attention you'll get.

We came here twice during our week on Bonaire! The donkeys are so funny and gentle when you feed them. The team does incredible work caring for so many donkeys. This is such a special place♥️

A truly awesome experience! The sanctuary is run by a wonderful, dedicated couple who have devoted their lives to helping the Bonaire donkeys with the help of their team of volunteers. Can’t recommend a visit enough!

A must do when on the island. Pay for a ticket, drive through and then walk at the end to see the moms and babies. You can also buy carrots for the residents.

This is such an enjoyable way to spend an hour in Bonaire! It cost $9/person and you can drive through the huge park and see the 800+ donkeys! It takes about 1 hour to slowly drive through the sanctuary, but you could easily spend more time here if you brought or bought food for the donkeys. You can get out of the car to pet and feed the donkeys too. The more energetic/ornery donkeys are in a separate area, so we felt very comfortable driving with our windows down and even getting out of the car with our 6-month old daughter. The donkeys were very calm - we loved every moment of this experience!
