DONKIN RESERVE, PYRAMID AND LIGHTHOUSE

Well I’ve been here twice now, once on a date and another time my mom and I went there. Honestly I enjoyed every time. There is parking right there, and the view from up at the top of the lighthouse is pretty cool. The stairs leading up are quite narrow so be prepared. It’s clean but you can tell it’s old but still cool. You can go right up to the top and even out. I hav eno complaints.

This is a historic landmark and is has been sorely neglected. It is such an important place in terms of tourism, and at one point around 2010 it was immaculate. It is being neglected by whoever is supposed to be taking care of it. Visit it anyway before it fades away completely. Something drastic needs to be done, the tourism department that is running it needs to do more here.

Could be amazing with a bit more care. The grass was really overgrown, the pathways were broken, and the place was quite dirty. The lighthouse exterior could definitely use a fresh coat of paint, and the windows at the top were pretty grimy. That said, climbing the narrow steep stairs was actually kind of fun and gave the visit a little adventure

Had so much fun listening to stories of how the town was developed, the back story of the pyramid, stunning views around from the lighthouse and the meaningful drawings and statues outside. Definitely worth checking out when in PE. Local artists also sell some art, traditional accessories etc.

Tourism guides/managers are very knowledgeable about the monument and the area. Sad that a few of the plaques have been removed. Would be nice if the vegetation around the Garden of Remembrance was a little more taken care of. View from the top of the lighthouse is good; a good workout for the legs as well. There is parking right next to the buildings and lighthouse, entrance to parking can be missed. Felt quite safe, though you always need to be mindful no matter where you are.

Definitely a must visit when in Gqeberha. The view from the top was good but the view from the tower was even better. There is ample parking at the place itself. The streets around the place did not seem very safe to me and this was also confirmed by the person working there at the time. The climb to the top is not easy and requires some effort but the view asses this effort.

Wow! What a beautiful sight and must see tourists attraction in Gqeberha. Just look out for the big flag post hoisting the flag of South Africa🇿🇦 visible from the N2 passing through Gqeberha.
