Warm, soulful, and absolutely delicious — just like home should feel. I came into Don’s Café needing comfort and left completely satisfied, heart and belly full. The breakfast was absolutely amazing — I ordered a vegetarian omelet and French toast, and every bite was clearly made with care. Their homemade bread is something special — soft, fresh, and full of flavor. You can taste the love in it. Even after a tough month recovering from foot surgery, this meal and the cozy atmosphere gave me a little piece of joy and healing. You don’t find that everywhere. Thank you, Don’s Café — your food is more than food. It’s nourishment in every sense of the word.

The picture doesn’t do it justice. Food was fantastic. Breakfast potatoes were the bomb. Service was impeccable and friendly. But then again everything in Morris is friendly. Place was very clean. Their homemade bread was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Will definitely be our go to spot there for breakfast

Google
Excellent cafe for breakfast. It gets busy on weekends. Really good food with great portions. Just looking back at my photos made me hungry for Don’s again. If I’m ever in Morris again, I’ll certainly be eating at Don’s. Thanks for the great meal.

Ì had the shrimp, it came with a small salad a thick slice of "homemade bread" I had fries instead of mashed potatoes with gravy (big mistake). My husband had the full order of hot beef sandwich with the homemade mashed potatoes and beef gravy, my mom had the half order of the same as my husband. It was the very best I have ever tried. I got way to many shrimp and fries. I wish I had gotten the hot beef. It was flavorful, tender and stayed hot and was steamy. The bread is to die for. You definitely get your money's worth.

Google
Super cozy and inviting cafe! The burgers here are the best in town 100%. The food is out quickly and the prices are good for what you get. My favourite place to go to.

Google
This is a small restaurant hidden away in Morris. We were there right before lunch and the place was packed, plus people were getting take out, so the place was BUSY! It took over 30 minutes to get our food and the burgers were good but not great. We also had cheese curds and those were fantastic! There isn't much room inside and it was a little run down, bit it was still a nice and friendly place to stop and eat.

As a Morris resident, this is a great place to treat your guest from out of town! My guest always have a great comments after coming here. Also, former residents (e.g. UMM students) love to "come back" here as they always ask about this place when you meet anyone that used to live here. I love the pancakes in the morning as it fills me up for 2 meals. I love the different options too! If you ever order one of the delicious milk shakes, make sure you share it with somebody It's tempting to eat it all yourself, but I warn you!!!!

Google
Don's is a standout in small town cafes. Kari is an amazing server. The atmosphere is very small town cafe. My lunch was amazing except for the inane woman complaining about the white gravy, that they apparently don't have (not on the menu that I could see.) she was very out of line with everyone. If I could I'd give this 10 stars very clean and comfortable

Yelp
Have known Greg forever. We went to school together. Ever since they bought it he has taken great pride in running the business. The food is to die for. The portions are super and very filling. Usually have some leftover. Prices are quite reasonable. Usually is a line at 8am for opening. Best place for breakfast in town.

Yelp
37 people crammed in this small place at noon. Barb said it was maybe the best breakfast sausage ever. I had hot beef, so common in small towns, but hard to find in the Cities. As are the low prices.

Yelp
Had breakfast on a Saturday morning and there was a wait. Coffee was great and gave a carafe. Hashbrowns are amazing- French toast is very bland eggs and omelettes good. Staff wonderful everything clean

Rudy B.

Yelp
Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious grilled cheese sandwich. A very enjoyable experience.

Shawna R.

Yelp
The best hot beef sandwiches in Minnesota!!!! And the Grilled cheese sandwiches are amazing too.

Yelp
Love the food! The caramel rolls and the ham &a cheese omelette are my favorite. I always recommend this place to visitors of Morris. Homemade bread is the best too!

Yelp
I had eggs (sunnyside up), bacon, and home-made toasted white bread. Coffee is served in an insulated carafe so you'll never run out. Staff was amazingly friendly. The interior is very clean and seems recently updated which can fool/ shortchange you if you judge by the exterior building.

Yelp
Breakfast servings are crazy big and delicious; so not visit, live in, or drive through Morris without stopping at Don's for a bite or two - and don't forget their malts!

Lindsey T.

Yelp
Friendly and fast service with excellent food. The only reason I give 4 stars is because they're barely open anymore.

Yelp
Burgers were pretty good. The curly fries are good if you get them not burnt. My wife's weren't burnt but our huge family size plate was, so that was a letdown. Also ordered shakes, which were fine, nothing spectacular and a bit overpriced. Definitely will go back for a burger but will probably skip the fries and shakes next time.

Yelp
Best food in Morris. Do not go here if you're dieting! Portions are sizable, though not particularly healthy. Their burgers are awesome, but Breakfast is their best fare. The dining room is a little small for large groups- but the staff is fairly accomodating. Prices are along the lines of chain restaurants of the same sort (IHOP, Denny's). It would be really great if they took Credit Cards.

Yelp
Perfect place if you're white and judgmental. Lived in Morris for 2 years for college and tried eating here twice throughout that time. Both times, walked in and was immediately stared at and not in a nice way. Got seated and a menu and everyone was STILL staring. Servers were very rude. Didn't smile or anything. Dropped a menu and said she'd come back, after what felt like forever we just walked out. It was like everyone forgot minorities existed! I felt super uncomfortable in there that both of the times we tried eating there we ended up just leaving. Definitely don't recommend. You'll never catch me stepping foot in that racist establishment EVER again.

Yelp
I think I survived college on milkshakes and toast (or grilled cheese when I wanted to get fancy). Go here. Eat. Revel in its glory.

Talance F.

Yelp
Nice place that had good reviews about the so called good food. I was excited to eat this food more importantly try it for the first time. I arrived at 11 and waited nearly until Noontime to find out that my order was lost. It was sickening. I waited nearly an hour and nobody had said a word or anything. I was lost for words and decided I didn't need to eat here if I'm gonna be pushed to the side like this. Do not recommend this place and Don needs to take in account for his staff's actions. Sickening.

Jesse K.

Yelp
Breakfast here was amazing. I had the two eggs, bacon and toast. Of all the food, which was all amazing, the toast was the best! We asked the person working what kind of bread it was and were told that it's their own homemade white bread. I would go back for the bread alone! Well done! Hope to return someday!

K S.

Yelp
So... you think you've had a great grilled cheese? The grilled cheese here is out of this world. Made to perfection every time. Gotta get it with tomato. Also, the hot beef commercial is mouth watering. I've never had bad service here.

Yelp
I heard about Don's on the news many months ago during a story about where to find the BEST grilled cheese in MN and had been waiting forever to make a trip up north to give it a try. This weekend we had the opportunity to make a stop. Surprisingly, today is National Grilled Cheese day. I didn't know this until we were almost there and was worried there would be a line of people waiting to get in. We arrived at the right time - and as soon as we sat, the place filled up fast. If I wasn't so far away I would make this my hot spot as often as possible. The grilled cheese lived up to it's name - it was FANTASTIC. My cowboy man ordered a 1/2 hot roast beef sandwich and the two of us together couldn't finish our plates - the portions were HUGE! The environment was a blast from the past. It was like walking in to the 70's ~ it felt soooo good to go back in time. On our way out the door we got an old fashioned chocolate shake to go.... I barely got two sips from the straw and my other half had drank it all. Keep up the great work -- your place is amazing. I hope to make it back that way someday and when I do, I will be getting my own shake -- no sharing.

Yelp
A classic small town diner. People love the grilled cheese but I go for the "commercial" Aka "hot beef". Some winter days it's better than a sweater for warming you up.

Betty O.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite lunch places. The BLT is amazing. Grandkids love the grilled cheese. However, we've never been disappointed no matter what we order. Service is prompt and cheerful.

Trudy K.

Yelp
We ate here yesterday. The food was good and the service really great. We'll be back.

Yelp
This is one of the places in Morris you HAVE to go to. Great milkshakes and home style food! Also, they have a very friendly staff.

Yelp
Now that I've had time to process and analyze the situation, I am still traumatized by the event. On May 4th, a colleague and I decided to venture to Don's Cafe for a brief lunch. What began as a simple lunch date actually turned into a nightmare that will haunt me for years to come. The place was somewhat busy, so we just sat at one of the booths located on the right side of the restaurant. The waiter rushes over to give us a glass of water, and I kindly asked for two straws---the manager huffed at my request. I simply ignored it and proceeded with my order. When the food was delivered to our table, the lady in the booth behind us had an accident. There were feces all over the booth and table. Due to the horrendous odor, we were unable to eat our meal. The problem is not with the lady who had an uncontrollable bowel movement (as we all know that accidents happen), however, it was with the manager who failed to handle the situation in a professional and respectable manner. My colleague and I tried to get the manager's attention, but was responded with several eye rolls. After ten or so minutes, the manager was confronted by one of the busboys that we needed attention. She screamed, "I told them that I would be there." When she finally approaches our table, we whisper to her what had happen and why we cannot stay to eat. She proceeded to scream at us and then violated our personal space by waving her hands in our faces. After I tried to deescalate the situation, she kicked us out of the restaurant and continued to scream while we exited the cafe. Later that evening, I was told by a fellow patron that the table was never cleaned and was used as normal. To wrap it all up, the manager disrespected both me and my friend multiple times by refusing to listen to our concerns, violating our personal space, and literally raising her voice. The owner should find another manager who likes people and/or consider providing courses regarding customer service. I refuse to eat at this establishment ever again and I pray that no one is disrespected again based on his or her identity. *This café is not even one-star worthy, but I'm unable to give zero stars.

Yelp
My previous check-in was for dinner, but breakfast is where Don't truly shines. Classic dtiner breakfast at its best. The toast is a thick sourdough already covered in melted butter when it arrives. And absolutely don't skip the hash browns, cooked in liberal amounts of butter. A perfect classic breakfast.

Yelp
Don's Café is the place. Not fancy just a local dinner. We had breakfast here one morning and then returned the next day to try their lunch. This is where the locals eat. Don's makes their own bread, and I'm going to tell you I believe their's is the best toast in the world. Who would have thought that simple white bread, toasted with butter could make you wax poetic. The big treat here is the hand dipped milk shakes. They come in some really funky flavors like the ones we tried, Irish Cream and Blueberry. The shakes are really thick and served in the metal mixing glass. I believe I could live on toast and milk shakes from Don's Café. This is going to become favorite eating place.

Yelp
Quintessential small-town cafe, with out of this world cheese sandwiches and a plate of fries that can feed a small Army. I'm not kidding. This was the go-to place during college, and I'm so happy that Don's is still open after all these years. The prices have always been affordable. The food has always been bad for you, but good. I believe WCCO hailed their cheese sandwiches as the best in the state, and I would agree. Whatever kind of diner food you're looking for, whether it's a greasy-spoon breakfast, a cheese sandwich for lunch, or a burger, shake and fries for supper, Don's has it. Don't expect much in the way of decor, but do expect to leave full and satisfied, with a happy little grin on your face because you received so much food for so little money. This is where the college students went when they got sick of food service food.

Yelp
I ate at Don's just because of the YELP! Reviews... It's ALL true! Huge American diner food!

Yelp
I could eat the homemade bread all day. The rest of the food is typical greasy spoon fare-no muss, no fuss. They do have a pretty good cup of chili. Good for breakfast and lunch.

Yelp
Great food, large portions, timely service even though they were very busy! The shakes were amazing!

Yelp
I love eating breakfast at Don's. Their homemade bread is singular, I have never tasted anything like it. As French toast it melts in your mouth. If you are in the mood for comfort food give Don's a try.

Yelp
This place is definitely one of the worst establishments I've been to in my entire life. I came to visit a close friend for the week and he suggested that we go to this restaurant for lunch. I have heard that the place is usually great, but today it was a tragedy. The manager was our server and she was absolutely rude and disrespectful. There was an incident today where someone behind my booth took a bowel movement in her seat. We tried to notify the server/manager and she was rude and dismissive. Also, she put her hands in my friend's face and invading his personal space. She eventually kicked us out of the restaurant and did not clean up the feces. My friend's colleague notified him after the incidence that the manager sat someone at the table with the feces still remaining on the seat. Do not waste your time or money at this restaurant. We believe the motives behind the managers behavior was racially and religiously based. To be honest, this restaurant does not even deserve one star.

Yelp
Amazing shakes, big enough to split between two and still have leftover. Always craving some of their home made bread. Service is always prompt, even when every table is full.

Neil T.

Yelp
I can not express how great the food is in this place. I have eaten here for over 25 years and have NEVER been dissatisfied!

Lisa K.

Yelp
On March 16th a friend of mine stopped here on our way to visit family/friends in MN. I can't say we received bad service because we received NO SERVICE AT ALL! We walked in and had what must have been 4 locals behind us. All three of the people working were chit chatting. When one finally got done chatting, he passed our table (even though we sat down first) and went directly to the locals. Took their orders and went back behind the counter. He never stopped at our table to see if we wanted water or menus (even though he had the menus in his hand.) My friend and I waited a little bit more and got up and left. We then went to the competitors down the road (De Toys) and had the best food AND SERVICE ever!!!!! (At De Toys we were greeted as soon as we entered the door.) Thank you De Toys! Next time I head in that direction, I'll be sure to stop at De Toys and NOT DON'S!

Alex R.

Yelp
Don's has that small town charm about them. It's a cozy little cafe. The atmosphere is a little sloppy but the small space and together seating does leave one with the feeling like everyone there is hanging out together. My biggest complaint from my most recent visits has been the wait. Last time I waited over forty minutes for a pancake and the time before it was about the same length for a burger. The food is cute and comfortable. Nothing that blows me out of the water. I do wish they would have more frosted rolls as it is really hit or miss when you go in. The staff is very friendly and tries hard to make sure everything is good. Overall, a nice underwhelming place with small town charm.
