Cozy friendly place with fresh pizza and doughnuts. Reasonably priced. Recommend the chicken pizza it had great ingredient ratio with a yummmy sauce and well flavored toppings, I like that they were finely cut. Awesome service.

All the food tastes great and a super value. We got a dozen doughnut holes while waiting for a whole pizza and blueberry filled bars for dessert. The ice cream is something to go back for later. Very nice and friendly staff. Pleasant place to grab a variety of foods ... even banh mi!!!

Great donuts! The dough is super light and fluffy. The glazed twist was everything I want out of a glazed doughnut. The maple cinnamon roll was great as well. I wouldn't come here looking for or expecting anything crazy. Don's does exactly what you would expect for a regular doughnut shop and the prices are more than fair.

Donut lovers dream! Finally, fresh donuts for those of us who want them in the evening! Great selection! Chewy, flaky, danishes; pillowy raised glazed donuts and mammoth fritters. I’ll be dreaming of these for decades back in my home state.

Great Doughnuts and Pizza! They're always busy... these guys are the best in the business you couldn't support a better family. they hire several college students to assist with the busy shop it's amazing how many slices of pizza sandwiches ice cream Donuts egg rolls you name it they sell one of those bars close keep it up Don's you guys are amazing!!!

They make time for local students and morning walking groups and are unfailingly kind Would still like to try their Pizza. Donuts and pastries are the Bomb!

My first time trying this place was the other day. Visiting and my buddy brought me to the square and we got a donut in passing. Best donut I’ve had hands down. Came by this morning 6-8-23 and got a combo croissant sandwich! It was delicious, toasted and made perfect. Saw they had pizza so I spent the day at the beach and came back for a to try a pie! Very excited this place has it all! And it’s all fire!!!

Pretty ok donuts nothing crazy. Please do not get the eggrolls they are not the greatest. Overall not a bad experience.

Service was amazing fast I had the raspberry cream cheese danish along with the spicy chicken pizza spicy chicken pieces actually hot and spicy and good and the cream cheese sandwich is so moist and delicious. It's awesome. Definitely gotta try it out. It's a small little shop but perfect.

Best donuts ever. The blueberry jam filling was delicious and fresh. Super sketchy customer service. We went around 11:30AM on Saturday and the guy working the counter couldn't remember our super basic donut order because in his own words he was "super hungover". But he got the order right and that is mostly all we cared about.

I come here often when I'm craving donuts or want a cheap but yummy slice of pizza. The guy always working the front is really friendly and there's usually some kind of hip hop music playing. The donuts are usually good, they can be a little stale and dry towards later in the day but they have a decent selection to choose from. I like getting the donut holes to split with my kid (he usually doesn't like donuts). Their pizza slices get warmed up before being served to customers so they have the melted cheese and crispy crusts.

The spicy chicken pizza was delicious! Along with their raised glazed doughnut. They make fresh doughnut throughout the day which is a big win!

Went after the movies on a Friday night. Busy but well managed. I love donuts and have had them in lots of different places but these were so disappointing. Dough and fillings were just gross. On the other hand it was a busy place with lots of activity-the pizzas looked pretty good-just wish they'd up the quality of the donuts.

Love this place, it always open late too. I definitely recommend the donuts or pizza bagel.

"Hey, man. Arcata, man. It's like... Arcata, man." Ne'er have truer words been spoketh to me, from a sweet spirit in the central square of Arcata, just a half-block away from Don's Donuts. Arcata is one of those quintessential NorCal coast towns with an eclectic mix of charm, history, and quirkiness. The counterculture influence here is noteworthy, and sadly, there are quite a few folks just hanging out in the streets and public spaces with an aura of years of bad decisions and/or luck. They're as much a part of the landscape here as the colorful shops and small modest homes that line the streets of the town. Just off the main square is Don's Donuts and Pizza, a 24-hour deli/bakery with that special Arcata panache. On our last visit, there was a grungy looking fellow sitting on the ground outside the door, blasting clouds of blue sativa smoke into the narrow street. Didn't ask for a thing, and just met my smile and nod with a similar smile and nod. Not all who wander are lost. Man. As for Don's, it was the usual awesome donuts and awesome service. We ordered up a tall dozen-plus of our favorites, slipped the man a twenty, and headed for the door. No indoor seating with COVID rules, but no matter-- the park was brisk, cold, and lively with locals. When one started chasing a car yelling something about giant seagulls and threatening to kick everyone's... donkeys... in the next minute, we wrapped things up and headed back to the truck. Arcata, man. We don't miss the opportunity to hit Don's when we're traversing the north coast. We'll see you next time, friends.

The customer service is bad. The old lady is very rude and has no sense of kindness. Very rude service. The food is okay, if they can get your order correct. Just a place with an off putting ambiance.

We found this place on a hunt for some pizza after catching a Crabs game nearby. We ordered a blueberry pancake donut, a cream filled maple bar, and a curry chicken pizza. All were outstanding!

These are some of the best doughnuts in the country!!! Go get a custard filled chocolate long John and try and tell me different!! Long Live Don's Doughnuts!

Neutral review. Just came in for a simple croissant ($2). The guy asked if I wanted it warmed up so I said yes, it came out a little burnt and he kinda had forgotten it for a little while before I had to ask him if it was ready. The croissant was good.

Don's is a reliable, round-the-clock Arcata staple. The donuts and pizza are consistently delicious and the menu offers an incredible amount of variety. This is a true hole-in-the-wall establishment as you'll come across all walks of life while here - and it's part of what makes Don's such a fascinating place to visit. The seating area is very limited, especially as the twilight and late night/early morning hours approach. Don's isn't nearly as busy during the day as it is at night. I've always been impressed with how quickly the staff is able to get orders out even when it's incredibly packed. The food service here is a well-oiled machine. While it's possible that you'll have a drunken encounter with a patron or transient or be asked for money, if you're used to this area, that sort of thing is not atypical. You can always order your food to-go. Other than that, Don's is out here 24/7 doing this community a solid after almost every other Arcata eatery shutters its doors for the night.

The apple fritter was huge, crisp, good amount of apples mixed in. I didn't try the other donuts, but grabbed some for work and they went pretty quickly so that's a good sign. They are open late which is really nice, I grabbed them around 10PM

We got fried rice, donuts, and boba smoothies for National Donut Day! It was amazing! The apple fritters are as big as your head. The cream-filled donuts are kept cold in the back, and the cream is light, sweet, and luscious. Highly recommend. This is a take and go place with no seating.

Customer service is horrible. Guy behind the counter was extremely rude. Great food but the attitude from employees makes me not want to spend my money here.

This place is not good. Donuts still taste like sourdough, and most likely not by choice. Also the horrible loud music is not a good place for young people or folks who have hearing issues. The people who work there are very nice and pleasant. High ratings must be due to late night clientele. Although the reality is a donut is just fried sugar, but that fried sugar can be fried well.

Time to change that frying oil.......The donuts taste like other fried foods and are just old tasting

Dons is the best place in Arcata. Cheap prices, their donuts are incredible, and all I want to eat for every meal for the rest of my life is their pizza bagels

The guy behind the counter was incredibly rude to me. Earlier today, my friend and i went to Dons. I asked for apple juice. He put it on the counter, pushed it away from me and then flipped me off to my face. Then he pointed at me and said that I "wasn't any fun". I'm not normally one to complain about bad service but this is like a fireable offense

Literally the most ridiculous experience I have. Ever had! People running into customers and flipping us up behind the counter??? Standing and dancing on the counters ??!? What in the world ? Health code violations ? There was 20 people behind the counter. I used to love dons but that has left such a bad taste . This deserves negative stars.

I've been a fan of Don's since 40 years ago and make a point to grab a few donuts each time I visit Arcata. Being a small town the hours can be unpredictable especially around the holidays. The staff are equally unpredictable ranging between wonderful and intimidating. Honestly I just care about the donuts which are great, wonderfully old school, quite large and very reasonably priced. The apple fritter, when warm and fresh is as good as life gets but their cinnamon roll is equally comforting. The blueberry cake donut takes me back to the 1980s, before pizza and banh mi, and Don was out there making the donuts. There are a declining number of Arcata memories that can still be relived and Don's is in the top tier of such institutions.

Stopped briefly while driving through town. Had one of their bagel sandwiches and a few donuts. Loved how soft the bread was and the fresh ingredients. The donuts were also so soft and flavorful. Would definitely come back for more. Fast, easy, delicious food.

Made a stop at Don's just for the donuts and it was absolutely delicious!! Staff was friendly, the only bad thing was deciding on which donuts to get! Pizza by the slice was tempting, it looked delicious too!

I came into this establishment to grab a slice of pizza. When I entered they were listening to incredibly inappropriate music that referenced oral sex. All of the people working there were dancing and incredibly unprofessional. The person that was supposed to be heating up my pizza completely had his mask off. I felt incredibly unsafe and I left immediately without even getting my money refunded to me. This place is not Covid compliant and is putting our community at risk. There was only one person correctly wearing a mask that was working here. Absolutely ridiculous!

The sign says they open at 8am. I went at 9am twice, and they weren't open. Just adjust your sign with a later time. No one will be mad with you opening early. It is so frustrating when you expect a business to be open when they say they will be. Especially when you are buying for large a group of people.

We stoped here on the way to redwood national park... great place- cheap eating. The pizza by the slice was decent, the wings is not your typical wings-- these wings isn't cover in any sauce but it it's coated in a light batter (similar to a beer batter) different but delicious. They also offered sandwiches ver similar to Bánh Mi that you can customize what you want in your sandwich. I also tried their donut and the apple fritters was very good.

LOVE THIS PLACE! You absolutely have to try the Don's Delight Bagel...trust me! One of the best things I've ever eaten. Or if it's pizza you're craving...try their Chicken Masterpiece! Yummmm! Amazing food, great prices and very friendly staff...Don's is the best!

honestly dons is fire but the staff is just... theres this one guy who works there who will mess with you and hold up the line and refused service to my friends who decided to mess with him back. he's annoying and bad at his job.

This place is an absolute gem. We were in town for The Oyster Festival and we came across Don's for some donut's and a break from the crazy crowds at the fest. This place is deceiving because you come in for some donuts and soon realize they have a full menu from freshly baked pizza to Bahn Mi's and everything in between. So my wife swept up a few donuts for later as I chose a bear claw as they were called when I was a kid. We were kinda hungry on the fly not to mention so we ordered a couple slices of pepperoni pizza to put back. Are you friggin' kinding me. That pizza was as good a pie from a little town that you can get in New York. It was a perfect piece of pizza. The crust was amazing with perfect texture and the mozzarella was so fresh you'd think it was crafted in house. And the pepperoni had the perfect amount of sodium to tie everything together for the unforgettable toothy bite if pizza. Well played Don's! Arcata should be proud to claim you as their own. Oh BTW did I mention that bear claw was a good a bear claw as you can get. Compared to the Silicon Valley their prices were really good! I highly recommend Don's to anyone that's either in town or going to be in the area. A must visit for me!

Growing up dons has been a joy, but on Friday night (store was not too busy) I went with a group of friends and we ordered a pizza and they proceeded to say the pizza would take 45 minutes. So we ordered 1 sub and 2 bagels (with topping) and it took them 30 minutes to make it. The whole time they were talking behind the counter and blasting this odd SoundCloud style rap. Once we were getting our food another man that had been sitting inside before we got there got up to the counter to get his food and they man handed him a pizza, and the costumer said no I got the bagel, the clerk said that the bagel has been sitting behind the counter and just handed it to him. Just was disappointing! They were literally partying behind the counter there was a guy playing music on the speaker who did not move once while we were in the store. Also the tomato on my bagel was like all the outsides of it no middle ??? Made no sense. But their apple fritters are fire though I recommended and the herb and cheese bagels are good..don't ask them to make it for you though! I

Great hole in the wall donut shop in downtown just off the Plaza - an eclectic crowd that changes with the day, and an old school donut shop that also does huge pizza by the slice. Lots of killer donuts to choose from and they are made fresh twice daily. The aroma of fresh made donuts at the 5:30s is the best. Their plain old fashion buttermilk donuts are great! 00009

Best donuts on the west coast! Don can do donuts! Words cannot express how perfect their donuts are. I absolutely won't eat any others. Not to mention the cheese danishes, so flaky and buttery my mouth is watering just thinking of them. A chubby girls dream!

What a gem of a place. So very glad we decided to stop here on our way home to Chico. We wanted a quick bite now with a little treat to have for our 4 hour long drive home so Don's fit the bill. Donuts, sandwiches, pizza and more. We each got a sandwich for now and a donut for later and a cup of coffee to share. Our first mistake was only getting 1 cup of coffee. Wow is this delicious stuff. If I lived here, THIS would be my morning go to routine. AND they have Truvia, my preferred sugar alternative. Thanks for that! My sandwich was moan worthy. The croissant was fresh, flaky and just the right amount of crisp. My plan was to eat half now and half later. Ha! I devoured the whole thing. So good!! We will be sure to visit Don's each and every visit (we visit Arcata several times per year).
