"Before our short stint in Lafayette, everyone told us that we had to eat at Don’s Seafood. It’s a classic with everything from fried alligator to oysters. “This is where I take anyone who is new to Cajun Country so they can get a nice sampler of our delicacies," says Broussard. "I love their blueberry cheesecake...I wish it could be my wedding cake.”" - Anne Roderique-Jones

The food was delicious, for the record. However, the dessert menu is sorely limited to only 5 items but if you're interested in drinking spirits, there are a plethora of options. Food portions are adequate. Salmon was unexpectedly drier than I would have hoped. Compared with other restaurants in the area there are a few better alternatives. The atmosphere was lively and mildly diverse. I'm certain there are other dishes served that will amaze your palate but the salmon, not so much. It's good but there's plenty of competition out there... Service was friendly, Lia, my waitress, was attentive, pleasant and well informed of the menu options. If you have the money to burn and want the experience then you will not be utterly disappointed. Definitely not my first choice if you're on a budget. When I have more expendable income available I'll definitely give Don's another go but I'll try something other than the salmon. Happy eating!

Currently still stuffed from last night’s dinner! I ordered the 1/2 catfish with red beans and rice with a lemon drop martini. The lemon drop was strong but sweet enough to my personal liking. The catfish came in very thin 1/2 cut pieces which didn’t necessarily take away from the taste but it wasn’t my favorite as far as texture/presentation. The red beans was the star of the show HOWEVER, the rice was not cooked all the way through and some bites were crunchy. I’d definitely come again as there were other options I’m dying to try.

One of the very best meals I've ever ate in my life! Legitimately! Alex was my server and the guy was nothing short of awesome! This place deserves a 6th star! Order the crawfish platter, trust me! OMG!!!

Food was good. This is what people brag about when they have been to Lafayette. Waiter was enjoyable and fun. Loved the blackened alligator. Huge oysters! Enjoyed gumbo, crab, étouffée. Decent prices. Lots of different places to sit and enjoy dinner, a drink, the game. Highly recommended. This is where the locals go. IYKYK

So my experience at the restaurant was amazing! I started off with some oysters which were delicious. I also had the seafood spinach dip which was also delicious. My friend ordered boudin balls, and hush puppies so by time my food came I was STUFFED! I took two bites of my red beans and fish then asked for a to go plate. I finished playing in the stores, and I was ready to watch tv and eat the rest of my meal. When I pulled my fork up I had a long piece of hair, I started gagging. My hair is blonde right now, and my friend hair is really short. This was long black hair. I called the restaurant and told them maybe the cooks should wear hair nets or something the person who answered the phone said she would let the kitchen know but my stomach is still upset. I literally just finish telling people how amazing this place was. I’m so upset I couldn’t finish my beans they were so creamy too!

The food was delicious! Waitress was very kind and sweet. She kept checking on us to make sure we didn't need anything else. The restaurant was very clean. Place was recommended to us by my cousin who lives in Greta. We are from San Antonio, Texas visiting Sulphur. We didn't mind the drive. It was worth the drive.

We chose to eat at Don's as we were passing through Lafayette on our way home. I do not regret it at all. I had a seafood platter and my wife had a 1/2 fried shrimp/etouffee. Neither of us were disappointed. Both meals were absolutely GREAT. My only regret is that I didn't call for reservation in advance from our hotel room, but I won't make that mistake again. Great atmosphere.
