Don's Specialty Meats

We ate lunch here and it was great. The shrimp salad, chicken sandwich, pork chop sandwich and boudin rolls were awesome. The hamburger was a bit spicy for my kid but it was tasty if you like that.

We drove to Lafayette from Dallas for my niece's wedding. On our way back home, we stopped, and I bought 15 pounds of frozen boudin to bring home with us. I miss not having boudin whenever I want it. They have the best boudin you can buy.

We were visiting family in Sunset and wanted some filets. We got 4 filets and were very happy with the steaks and price. Definitely will be back to try other meats.

It's not as good as you to be service, just not friendly if you paying 10lb for cooked to eat boudain crackers should come with it. No smoked meat, just things to cook and sausage. Food was still taste.

Lunch plates are excellent, great selection of both fresh and frozen meats. Customer service is outstanding.

I'm from Louisiana but I live in Panola County Texas now I drive 3 hours one way to Don's to buy my sausage and Boudin and other meats and such I've never been disappointed Great service and great Products God Bless Y'all

The plate lunch was fantastic and perfectly seasoned. It was a good healthy portion. No complaints here.

If i pass by i have to pass thru the drive thru there is literally no getting around it! The plate lunches are delectable and i cant say neaux to rice and gravy being pass out at a drive thru window.

Always look forward to stopping here when passing through. Boudin balls and chicken cracklings are our favorites. All the people who work here are always friendly and upbeat. Sometimes we fill our cooler with food and some of their specialty products. All so good!

I am so glad I tried this place. Service is outstanding! That alone gets them 5 stars. The Boudin and Cracklin was a first for me. I loved it. The beef and pork smoked sausage was a huge burst of flavor every bite. I will definitely be back here and I hope y'all give this place a chance. Tons of different meats to take home as well.

Chicken cracklins - trust me..... get TWO scoops. We also love the stuffed chickens to cook later.

This is a lunch counter and little convenience store with clean restrooms. Had the grilled chicken salad. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and the lettuce was fresh, not from a bag. Was pleasantly surprised there was a salad option and it was made with fresh ingredients. Took about 10 minutes to come out and we ate at the outdoor tables which were also clean.

We picked up boudin balls and boudin using their drive-thru. Service was great. Happy smiling face, great attitude. Boudin balls need to be redesigned. The outer coating was terrible. Probably the worse I've ever had. Boudin was a bit better. Was not dry. Was a bit to much white pepper giving that lingering taste making you look for a drink to calm it down. Location is handy. I'll try again in about a year

If you are looking for boudin balls this is the spot. They are big and meaty and not full of rice like some places make them. The pepper jack version was ok and the cracklin was a little hard but if you get them freshly prepared they would have been better. This Is my first time at the new location off of highway in Carencro which is very convenient. There are plate lunch specials daily and a number of specialty meats to choose from.

Texas born - and my particular area has a lot Cajun influence in TX... I always stop here to pick up my boxes of boudin ( makes a great gift, snack or dish to serve at a backyard gathering) . I can prepare them better my way by throwing them on a grill!! If you're a pork grind fan don't forget to pick some warm pork grinds up!! I also get a bunch of their andouille sausage and freeze it for when I make gumbo. The also are a McWare dealer- McWare only supplies to local family owned businesses and not big box corporations to help give small businesses a competitive advantage. Check McWare out too!

This really should be a five star review. I went and had one of the plate lunches the beef tips over rice and it was stellar. Very very good food for a reasonable price. The Wi-Fi did not work. I asked three employees to give me the Wi-Fi password and they all said that they weren't authorized to give it out to anybody even though it was a guest Wi-FiOne girl flat out told me I'm not even trying to get you the password. It was rude. You lose two stores for poor customer service and no Wi-Fi

A legit boudin etc. Take it and go - indoor area kinda sparse. The meat market is strong

Ok so after being gone for a year I was so ready for some Billy's boudin but I was so disappointed after $60 of hot food and it not tasting the same ata lo I decided to try the new Don's. I'm not a fan of their I-10 location, never have been. The new Don's on I-49 and hector Conlley is amazing! First of all I was impressed driving up. I know it's new but it was just sooooo clean. Walked inside to their very large store and took a gander at everything. We ended up with boudin and cracklin. I wish I wasn't full I'd love to eat more. The boudin was perfect and cracklin seasoned just how I like it. As I was walking out I saw slush puppies! I haven't seen those in 15 years! I was so excited. Two thumbs up. As you are checking out do yourself a favor and buy a popcorn ball... or four. Huge but addicting. They are locally made and sold at very few stores. Worth the drive! Enjoy. I did.

This is a new location that just opened a few days ago. This is a great new dining and specialty meat market in Cajun country. They have separate ordering counters for boudin and cracklins. There is a different counter for ordering plate lunches and various other foods. Outside they have eating areas. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic Cajun meats and specialty items like boudin.

I bought cracklings. Quality control is poor. I received more pieces of hard meat than cracklings. 20 years ago there was better quality control. I don't know what is going on now. Don you used to have the best cracklings in all of south Louisiana. Not anymore

We ordered a large selection of various meats and had them shipped. They were packed well and arrived frozen solid. The Boudin was fantastic and had a little spicy kick. Order lots - probably my all time favorite Boudin. The Andouille was very good. The Tasso was spicy and very good. The Hot Pork Sausage was spicy and great. Shipping was expensive but that is not Don's fault - the markup is reasonable.

Barbecue on Sunday is good but NO barbecue sauce on meat. Asked for sauce and disappointment when told smoked barbecue. Cracklings pieces & specialty meats keeps me coming back. Boudin balls are too tiny. Such a clean spot and excellent services.

Had items shipped, Boudin and Cracklins. Both were awful, awful, awful. The Boudins were not authentic at all. Too much pot quality, tough meat, not enough rice. All I could taste was pepper. Worst Boudin I've ever had in my life. I am from that area of Louisiana. I grew up eating real genuine homemade Boudin that my grandmother made. I know Boudin and these Boudins I received from Don's, I threw away all of them after the first bite of one. Real sad and a waste of money, lots of money. Including the Cracklins that were hard, overcooked and had a burnt taste. I purchased 2-1.5 lbs jars that I had to throw away. I've been to Don's before, in person and it wasn't like this. But that was years ago. What happened? Maybe new management, I don't know. I even wrote them an email directly, to let them know how dissatisfied I was, they didn't respond.

Great service. We go every time we are in town. Food is delish. Hambugars on Saturday is a must try. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent selection! Clean, neat, new and well organized. We were sent here to pick up boudin balls for a friend and enjoyed the shopping experience.

My work buys their burgers for events and they are great every time! They also have some pretty good plate lunches too during the week.

Tourist trap. Post-Lockdown cracklins are now over $21 per pound - not much spice on them either. The plate lunch was ok. The shrimp poboy, which is NOT made on poboy bread... had 12 shrimps on it. Wanted ice water not soda...ice for water was 35 cents per cup...really? It's just ice! We just got drinks out of our car cooler and we sat outside to eat...and to top it off you are charged an extra 4 percent if you use a credit card... bet you didn't see that sign on the door!

Stopped by for the plate lunch special at about 1 pm. Out of the stuffed catfish so I got shrimp etoufee. Was asked if I wanted fried fish with it. Fish was cold, mostly just skin. Looked like and had the texture of cracklings. Horrible! Asked for tartar sauce and had to pay extra for that. Menu said it came with bread pudding but I got fruit salad on my plate. Carrots also cold. Etoufee was good. Might try it again but very disappointed.

What better way to end an all girls trip than to get some fresh fried crackling's! It melts in your mouth and has a bit of a bite to it! *drools*

I tried the boudin anxiously and was immediately disappointed. Bland. I should have given another dish a try but was only focused on the boudin. Plus after my Saints lost to the Cowboys i needed some consoling; with this food the loss was more painful. I've had plenty of boudin in my young life, this place has no merit. I would be stopping here again unless i need to potty.

It's been a while since I've had any but as I remember; the best boudin I've ever eaten came from this meat market. My parents used to ship it to me in Iraq while I was in the marines!

I always feel uncomfortable in there. I'm 37 and I feel like there's no adults working in this store. If your not a local (meaning they see you every day) they treat you like $hit. I've bought meat from them one time and was so unhappy with the service I only shopped there when I had to. The meat was nothing special. I could have gotten it anywhere. But really I don't like this place for there service, and I live a mile down the road. Yup I drive an extra couple miles to not shop at Don's...
