Dorf Haus Supper Club

The food here is always delicious, and the service is incredibly warm and welcoming from the moment you walk in. You truly feel like a guest, not just a customer. We took some time to walk around the restaurant and discovered a back area filled with unique and charming photos, which added so much character and made the experience even more special. By pure chance, we also met the owner and ended up having such a lovely conversation with him. He is genuinely kind, friendly, and passionate. This is a wonderful place to come with friends or family and truly enjoy your meal. Being here honestly feels like a little vacation to Germany or at least what I imagine Germany feels like, since I’ve never been. 🇩🇪✨

We went on a Saturday. The special was Prime Rib. As an appetizer we ordered the chicken livers wrapped in bacon. Absolutely fantastic. For our main course we had the Prime Rib ordered medium rare. Again absolutely fantastic. Nancy was our waitress and she was amazing. We can't wait to return.

We had an incredible experience at Dorf Haus! We had an hour and 20 minute wait for a table but that didn’t bother us at all. There were plenty of seats at the bar and we enjoyed a drink while waiting. We enjoyed chatting with the bartenders a bit. It also gave us plenty of time to decide what we wanted to eat! Once we were seated, we ordered right away and the food was perfectly paced. You must order the cheese plate - best cheese spread we’ve ever had! The entries were incredible, especially the fried chicken. Everything was perfect from the food and service to the atmosphere. You must visit if you’re in the area and do not let the wait times scare you off - it’s well worth the wait!!

Food was excellent. Waitress was very attentive. Drinks were refilled promptly. Only issue we had was when we got there we were told an hour and a half wait. Got there at 5:30. At 7:15 we asked how much longer and were told we were "over looked" and they would have a table soon. Finally seated at 7:35. We were visiting from 3 hours away and looking forward to trying this place otherwise we would not have waited. No real apology or anything offered as compensation (such as a sliced of pie) for our extremely long wait. That was disappointing. Not certain if we will be back next visit. Definitely recommend allowing extra time in your schedule if you plan to eat here but overall I'd still recommend them. The food was that good.

Lovely location and delicious food with great service! I came in on a Sunday night while on a trip and we had a 15 minute wait for a table, which was faster than I'd anticipated seeing so many cars in the parking lot. After we got our table, I realized we would need to leave faster than I'd anticipated due to an 8pm check-in time at our hotel in Baraboo (~30 minutes away) and let them know. The servers were so helpful making sure we got all our food and the check right away so we could enjoy our dinner without stressing about the time. We forgot to take any photos of the food but enjoyed all of it, even if the meal was faster than we'd planned.

We started in the bar, my BOFS was just right. After about 15 minutes our table was ready. We had waitress who was clearly experienced and friendly. There was soft German music playing which matched the restaurants decor. Our salads were a little small but fresh. The water glasses remained full as the helpers were very responsive. My tenderloin was prepared nicely and spiced well. The garlic potatoes were hot and flavorful. Small town charm and great attitudes can make a dinner so enjoyable.

If you're looking for a true gem of a place- this is one of them... Yes, there might be close to a 2 hour wait on a Friday or Saturday night, but trust me, it's absolutely worth it. From the unique bars to chose from to lively polka bands in the back hall, the whole atmosphere is just fun and full of energy. Whether you're out for a casual dinner, a fun date night, or celebrating with a wedding party, this is a great spot. It's the kind of place that turns a night out into a full on German celebration and experience!

Good experience overall with nice decorations both outside and inside. We arrived about 20 minutes before closing and there were two doors and one is the main door where the staff will seat you. Great food and service. Giant soft pretzels were my favorite 😍🥨 The potatoes and sauerkraut (sour and crunchy style) were really good too. Everything else was solid too

This might be my new favorite Friday Fish Fry! I'd come here a few times a few years ago close to closing time for a beer after some bike rides, but it has been quite a few years. We decided to check out their fish fry, and it was incredible. We arrived around 5:30p on a winter Friday, and were estimated an hour and twenty minute wait (and pretty darn accurate). They have more than one place to wait for your table, including a giant bar toward the back (the place is enormous). There was a cute little room off behind that bar with a few tables. The room looked like it came straight out of my grandma's living room (and yes, I mean that in the best possible way) complete with holiday decorations. It was such a lovely wait in this cozy spot, I barely even noticed it was a wait... it truly felt like we were just sitting at each other's house sharing a drink. Their old fashioneds are STRONG and absolutely delicious, I hope that never changes. We also ordered the cheese spread with crackers while we waited... obviously delicious, it was a cheese spread... good size for the three of us. Bartenders were great and quick to notice you approaching the bar for another round. Once we were seated, we continued to get great service. I upgraded my Friday fish fry special to a side salad, and it was also great with quality mixed greens. The fish fry was also an absolute delight -- I dug in so quickly that I forgot to take a photo. The fish was lightly breaded so that it wasn't so thick/heavy, but gave a lovely crunch to a flaky white fish. Yum. The french fries were also great, I love the softer french fries and these certainly delivered. None left. At this point, I was more than satiated, but then our server mentioned dessert. I'm always hunting down a good brandy alexander that I can eat with a spoon. And while I'm frequently promised a thick brandy alexander I'm rarely delivered such. The Dorf Haus makes an incredible brandy alexander that is thick like soft serve ice cream and you can absolutely eat it with a spoon (and I sure did). My dining mates got a grasshopper which also was completely engulfed. I will definitely plan to be back, and will start brining visiting family here for a true Wisconsin fish fry.

I was there on a Sunday evening for dinner. I didn't have reservation. The place was packed. There was a wait period. Finally I went for a took out. Jager Schnitzel was my favorite item. Spaetzle was really good and buttery. Fried Haddock was my other item. It was good as well. Potato Cake was the best side I had. Chicken soup dumpling was the soup of the day. It was flavorful. Fritters seems to be the German version of complimentary bread. I liked it.

Dorf Haus has been on my list of places to visit, but for whatever reason we have never gone. We clearly have been missing out!! The restaurant does not look large from the road, but you quickly realize it's gigantic. There are two bars which were fun to sit at with an old fashioned while you wait for your table. The best part was the polka band playing while we waited! They were excellent, and watching families dance made it extra endearing and fun. This is most definitely a family-friendly restaurant. We're big fans of a Friday Fish fry and have added this to our list of favorites. I had the baked fish - it was perfectly cooked, and not rubbery like baked fish can sometimes be. The fritters they serve with your meal are and extra treat. I could have made fritters my meal. My husband tried their potato pancakes and absolutely loved it. We also tried their soft pretzel -- gigantic and delicious!! We couldn't recommend Dorf Haus more highly!

This place was worth the drive. I have included an updated menu, and they close at 8pm by the way. The drinks are flowing here. It's a good time. Great food and very friendly servers! Fried muenster cheese nuggets of goodness. Forgot the picture! French onion soup was delicious, and he liked the chicken dumpling as well. The steak Bavaria was very very good. Loved the purple cabbage and homemade bread. He had the haddock with German potato salad. Quite filling so we took dessert with us. Blueberry cobbler cheesecake and of course German chocolate cake was not going to be left behind. Check out the old world, quaint supper club decor. It was a great experience!!

Food was great, people were nice, beer was ever flowing. This place is the cats meow. The ONLY draw back is the wait. This place is basically Ishnala on Fridays. We got to the restaurant promptly at 445pm but apparently that was too late as the wait was 2 hours long. We had a party of 6 originally, but due to the wait, 4 folks decided to go elsewhere. My partner and I stuck it out (which was still a 2 hour way) and boy was it worth it. During the wait we had 2 drinks served by excellent bartenders and played darts at the 'arcade' area around the corner. Time went by fast and we were called to our table. We were sat in a wooden booth that has definitely been around for a while given it's size and wear. The server came over promptly and we ordered the munster cheese curds, a friday fish fry, and the Rahmschnitzel. The curds were delivered shortly along with fresh popovers which were DIVINE. Could be because were so hungry, but honestly, I think they were just amazing. Piping hot, melty, and delicious. Our Entrees were equally good. I judge my fish fry on fish, coleslaw, and tartar sauce and each of these pieces were fantastic. Fish was not fishy, breading was crisp with moist fish on the inside. Coleslaw was creamy with a hint of vinegar/acid, and the tar tar sauce was classic. The Rahmschnitzel was also crispy, the spatzle was perfectly chewy, and overall just was a dang good meal. Once more, the only thing about this place that is a tough sell is the wait and the fact that they do NOT take reservations on Friday. Otherwise, the cute ambiance (very german), service, and food is definitely worth it. Happy Friday Fish Frys.

7 friends were going to have dinner and no one thought to make reservations but our server got us a table which was tight if we were gone by 7pm to honor someone who actually made reservations. The place is definitely small town Wi old school super club with a bar, pool room, various dining rooms and outdoor space. The place is woody with lots of charm from all the old antiques and trinkets. We ended up stopping by at 4:45 in hopes of a table for our group and in about 20 minutes the huge building and bar was completely full and why dinner took almost 2 hours from rolls to desserts. Our server was fine and no complaints because it was packed for Saturday prime rib night and I could see why because the prices were reasonable with 12oz = $31 and 16oz = $34 for soup or salad and one side. I ordered the 12oz rare with chicken dumpling soup and mashed potatoes. The chicken dumpling soup looked like a stew and homemade with shreds of dark meat with the cartilage left on and diced white meat also which was tasty but everyone who ordered it had the same complaint of little or no dumplings. The prime rib looked absolutely amazing with little fat compared to some places cooked perfect melt in your mouth seasoned nicely. My jaw hit the ground when I tasted the mashed potato because they were not real and tasted like boxed we all agreed. I'm floored as to why the soup and prime rib is cooked with love/homemade and the mashed potatoes were fake/watery/loose , at least top it with a rich gravy to mask it a little. One more fail was the table next to us had a potato option of potato pancakes which I love but I was not given that option as my potato and a person in my group was that I didn't hear. 3rd fail was the dessert offerings which all looked like store bought Sara Lee cheese cake to be sarcastic but a little better when homemade bread pudding was available that was not offered as an option until my buddy specifically about it . My final thought was how this place gets some things so right and some things so wrong like polar opposites on the food spectrum like someone is sleeping at the wheel. I'm not going to let it affect my star rating because 4 is the highest I hand out unless I'm completely blown away which is not given out lightly by me. I'm going to definitely go back now that I know the lay of the land and I know what order and what not to because the potato pancake looked home made topped with cheese and the bread pudding looked equally delicious

Was looking for a place with a supper club atmosphere and decided on the Dorf Haus. We got there early and bellied up to the bar for old fashioneds and great conversation with the bartender, everybody was friendly! The Prime rib was larger than expected and hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside . Will definitely come here again very nice waitress and hostess.

We just had our daughters wedding here, the food & service was great. The price was really good. The grooms family is from a little ways away so they didn't know of the Dorf Haus. We had many compliments on how nice of a place it is, how good the food was and how good the service was. Jill

Since it was my birthday, I decided to make the short drive out to Roxbury for a German dinner at the Dorf Haus. The experience far exceeded my expectations. When I arrived around 6:45PM, the parking lot was nearly full. That was a very good sign. The ambiance was very authentic, welcoming, and relaxing. Rebecca, the hostess and co-owner, took my name and told me it would be about a 30-minute wait. I took my buzzer and went to the bar for a soda. Baxter was the young bartender. He was very personable and very efficient. He managed the drink orders with aplomb. I was having such a nice time chatting and relaxing at the bar that I almost wasn't ready for the buzzer to go off. Rebecca seated me at a very comfortable booth. I had previewed the menu on the Dorf Haus website, so I already knew what I was going to have. One can never go wrong with sauerbraten at a German restaurant. Jade was my server. She was so cheerful, friendly, and attentive. I could not have asked for better service. I instantly felt as though I had made a new friend. When my dinner arrived, it was beautifully presented with the sauerbraten and gravy on a bed of spätzle with a side of red cabbage sauerkraut. Everything was served perfectly hot and very flavorful. It was an absolutely perfect German dinner. Jade checked on me periodically, refilled my water glass, and took time to chat with me, since I was dining alone. After my dinner, Jade persuaded me to try the homemade German chocolate cake. The moment she said "homemade," I was sold. To my surprise, she brought the slice of cake with a birthday candle in it and was joined by all the other servers and Rebecca. They all sang "Happy Birthday" to me. The thoughtfulness really made my evening special. My evening at the Dorf Haus made me feel not only that I was among friends, but that I was among family. I cannot offer enough praise for the entire staff. They all made my birthday one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had.

Went to Dorf Haus to celebrate our anniversary and both of our birthdays. We were treated like royalty by staff, especially bartender Monte who gave us a tour of the place and its history. We both ordered the prime rib and it was delicious! Thank you!

Everything you want in an old style supper club, wonderful servers and crazy good prices! Absolutely love coming out here, especially with out of state guests

The German food at the Dorf Haus it is excellent. The shrimp cocktail was a little disappointing. The bacon wrapped chicken livers were excellent and the fish fry was a classic Wisconsin fish fry. I like the option of German potato salad with my fish fry. I will be going back again.

Not being able to handle simple reservations on FF Friday's is unbelievable. Have to skip this one, too bad.

As always, a fantastic Thanksgiving meal. Tastes like homemade--like grandma would have made.

Guten Tag! This is an all round amazing place to vist with family and friends, dine and eat great German staples, socialize, and get a few great photos inside and out. Its just a really cool WI destination spot. A supper club to set the standard from I would say. My folks and I dined here for the very first time on a Sunday night at 615pm. None of us has been here before and it kills me to not have come up sooner after my early Jan return to the US/Madison. From parking lot through the front door, this is a short teleportation into all things pure old school German heritage and culture. I wont event describe all the things you have to see here, the images will do better then words can. I will be doing a full blog review on my site as well. I got the 12oz ribeye topped with mushroom and onions, with house chicken-dumpling soup and a baked potato. Every bite was decadent! Mom got the pork shnitzel topped with savory lemon puree and spatzel, plus soup. She seemed very pleased with her meal indeed. Dad went pure German style and got the Sunday special shienhaxen (slow roasted smoked pork shank) covered with saurkraut, a side of house applesauce and a side salad. This pork shank is huge by the way and I was more than happy to help pops out with it. We all got indulge in the famous basket of house bread fritters (fried slightly sweet fluffy doughballs) and not one was left behind! Rebecca, is the co-owner since 92' with her brother Montey since 76' where they took over the business from their parents who started it in 1959 for what it is today, The Dorf Hause whos name means "little village" in German. Rebecca came out and say with us to chat for a while and wow is their story amazing! You absolutely must ask to say hello to her and even ask to hear about the family business and her parents legacy within the walls of the building. Oh and the painting all over the walls, done by local artist around Dane County! The smorgasbord and salad bar this place is famous for have been put on hiatus since covid lockdowns went into effect and won't come back until further notice. I hope its sooner than later as I want to experience that as well. Spectacular bar area, dorned with all things Germany, large German beer list, large wine list of American, German and other white and red wines and many cocktails to pick from as well. If you get the chance to scour the ground outside, do it! Its gorgeous out there. And if you can, ask for Stacey as your server, she is awesome in every way. Auf Wiedersehen!

Great food, ambiance, and service! Everything was delicious and our waitress was very friendly. Worth the wait. Love the very classic interior too, hope it never changes.

The food was not authentic German. The Schnitzel was two small breaded patties that were bland and the breading was falling off. The German potato salad appeared to be a tablespoon and not an authentic taste. The wait was ridiculous. We will not be back.

I love this place and want to go back ASAP! Great German food. We started in the bar with old fashioneds, then once sat had the cheese spread, the cheese spread deserves its own paragraph of how delicious it was but to sum it up highly recommend! My friend had the pretzel and I had pork schnitzel! The salad was delicious, there is not a salad bar anymore but it was good and the ranch was phenomenal! We didn't have room for dessert but will be back!

We were in search of an old school supper club and knew this place had been highly rated in the Best of Madison poll for its fish fry. We decided to give it a try even though it was not Friday and we would not get to test out their ff. We booked a five pm reservation since we had been out and about and this worked with our schedule of returning to the Madison area. If you are looking for a young crowd this isn't the place but then again I wasn't expecting that in a supper club setting. I did love all of the German "decor" in the bar. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful. He kept us supplied with drinks and bread. Our old fashions were solid. Two of us ordered the Jagerschnitzel and it was good and a big serving. Not the best I have had but tasty as was the side of German potato salad. The spaetzle side my wife had was reportedly excellent. I do want to return to give their fish fry a try.

Some friends took us here and we had a wonderful time. Great food and excellent service. Had one (or maybe two) of the best Old Fashions I have ever had. Plan to go back again (and maybe again).

The hostess was extremely rude to our party of 6. Said it would be a little over an hour wait on a Friday night. It was busy, but not packed. Got drinks and appetizers while we waited. Very friendly servers. After an hour and a half, people that came in after us were seated. There were plenty of open tables for 6. After 2 hours, we go up to the host, all the names above and below ours are crossed off. She rudely stated that she can't seat a party of 6 at a table for 2. We said,"we both know there are plenty of empty tables, she said follow me and seated us. We hit there at 6pm, if was 10pm when we finished dinner. We were just about the last people there. Ridiculous! Food was ok. Never going back.

We called ahead and made a reservation for this one because we were coming from an hour away. It was such an enjoyable experience and very worth the drive! You walk in and check in at the host stand, then head to the bar until it's time for your reservation. It was very spaced out for seating in the bar area, but getting a drink was crowded with everyone at the bar, not the worst thing though. When we were heading to our table, we got a sneak peak at the dessert tray and already pre-planned to try a little of everything! We mainly decided to come here because our cousin saw a photo of their fritters and wanted to try them. Well, plan ahead, the photo didn't tell us that they only serve those on Friday and Sunday (we came on Saturday). The rest of the week, you do get delicious bread though! Their cheesy potato and ham soup was one of the BEST soups I have ever tried at a restaurant. Absolutely amazing. We each tried a few different things for our main course, including sea food and steaks. Everything was super yummy, but I'd thought the garlic mashed were just Okay. Then on to the desserts! We loved everything! The peanut butter option was the winner though! Our service was amazing, even though they were super busy and had delays; she always stopped the say she'd be right back or just checked in. We will be returning to get those fritters!

Came for dinner and we were excited about the menu offerings. When we arrived we sat in the bar area with a possible hour wait but we're seated before our expectations. It was Peter in the evening so they were out of the bacon wrapped chicken livers. Instead we ordered the spin on their cheese dip which was disappointing but thankfully the only disappointment of the evening. We had the two soups offered and both were good, one of which was chicken with rice and the other chucked dumpling. This was followed by spinach salads with the bacon dressing. These were spot on and enjoyable. Next we're the dinners. The table had sauerbraten, a half chicken, German sausage platter, and mine was the schweinshaxe. The dinners were all excellent! It was late and we had a long drive back to our place of residence for the evening so we closed out and left but it was an exceptional experience and one to look forward to for another visit

Old Fashioned, Old Fashionds There are 3 things that stand out at this classic German supper club just outside of Madison, WI. 1. Cocktails--they make the 2nd best Old Fashioned available in our area. (1st place goes to Rosatis) 2. Service--the bartenders and support staff at this restaurant are authentic, and it is clear that they want to give you the best service possible. They all behave like they are owners--where every sale counts. 3. Décor--Cool German paintings, architecture, and other odds and ends. The food was good, but not crazy good. I tried the Rahm Schnitzel. Pork Cutlets with a creamy caper sauce on them. They were good, but not better than what I can make at home. What I hoped for, was a large platter of German goodies and perhaps German breads etc to accompany. They could have served a basket of warm pretzels, for example. We will be back--not for the food necessarily, but to shoot some pool, throw some darts, and get ripped on those lovely Old Fashionds.

Jake Buckles is the greatest worker and deserves a raise. He has the best mentality out of any worker there. The food was exquisite and absolutely zesty vibes.

Just like down home cookin'! Our family Had the Famous Fish fry and fried chicken, just the best. This place is busy so be ready to wait if you're not in before 5pm. The service was very excellent and accommodated our needs for our little ones. Yummy foods and good drink with large steins of beer. come and enjoy German foods that you crave.

Doff Haus is definitely one of my new favorites. I've been back twice in the last month and it is worth the commute from McFarland. The bread fritters served when you sit down are incredible, almost like a warm doughnut and the honey butter served with it is perfect!! I have gotten the pork cutlet with the caper dill sauce twice and it is delicious the sauce is lemony/dilly and capery haha and is so good on the pork. The pork on its own is amazing it's the perfect breading with just the right amount of seasoning. The place itself is an experience on its own, it feels like a German pub and has fun decor to look at and the servers dress in traditional German outfits which is fun. The staff is always friendly and welcoming just make sure you make a reservation for Friday or Saturday night as they do get really busy!!

Phenomenal super club experience. Both German and the typical supper club fare are available. Perhaps the best fish fry to be found in proximity to Madison.

I very rarely give bad reviews, both because I'm an optimist and because I love food, all kinds of food. The one star is for the sauerkraut, which was good. I really have nothing positive to say about everything else. I ordered the schweinshaxen, an impressively massive ham hock, and for $18 in a dimly lit clammy tavern, I expected it to be pretty dang good. It was flavorless and simultaneously greasy and dry. The flavor was just...lard. If you want to try the schweinshaxen from Dorf Haus, save yourself $15 and buy yourself a bucket of sewit at Woodman's. The side (mashed potatoes) was a mistake. The potatoes were clearly made from dehydrated mix with only water added and had a very bitter garlic flavor. The meal included a salad bar which they also managed to ruin by adding containers of unlabeled bone-in, cold -possibly pickled- chunks of meat floating in water. There were a lot of things about the meal that disgusted me. If offered the chance, save yourself the trouble and pass it up.

Food is delicious, you have to try the pretzel and all the different German entrees. They have a German band on Fridays during lent that makes for a really cool dining experience.

Soooo freaking good. We had the Jaeger Schnitzel with house salad and soup of the day. Cozy bar and nice dining area. Bar tender was stellar. Staff is great. Food is awesome! I will be back!

My family has been coming to this place for decades. It has the best German food and beer selection. I highly recommend it!

The first time I came to Dorf Haus I told myself I wanted to become one the 'the regulars.' The cozy corners of the dining rooms yield to the large banquet hall and on a Friday night you will take what you can get. This place serves as a hangout on Wednesday and a birthday treat on Saturday. The fish fry is heaven. When you come, Rebecca will almost assuredly be there to greet you with a warm welcome and will make sure your old fashioned or beer stein arrives promptly (thanks, Rebecca. I was thirsty!) I have yet to be disappointed by any dish, but the homemade soups and German specialties are a standout. Do yourself a favor and get yourself and your special people down here. It's as good old-fashioned Wisconsin as you'll find.

Went for lobster tails. I know that sounds crazy but this is the second time we've gone for lobster tails. Why go to a German restaurant for lobster? Because it is fantastic. We did the usual; drinks, salad bar and tails. Salad bar is quaint and has a few unique items. The tails were cooked to perfection and the presentation was superb. Multiple options are available for sides. When the four of us finished eating we looked at each other and said, "mission accomplished." Service was excellent and the place was busy for a Wednesday night. Tip - make a reservation even if it is mid week and let them know you are coming for lobster before you get there or when you walk in the door.

We went here to celebrate a birthday recently and had reservations on a Sunday afternoon (though we wouldn't have needed one before 5:30). We ordered drinks at the bar-nothing fancy but the bar area is quaint. My little nephew found the piano immediately and was "playing" the keys for a bit. One of the staff even helped him up onto the bench-which surprised all of us. The other patrons tolerated him playing but my niece did take him away after a few minutes. The bartender was friendly. The atmosphere was quaint-old world German supper club vibe. Most of us ordered German specialty dishes. All of us really enjoyed our food. Everything looked appetizing. Like other supper clubs of the past there is a salad bar well stocked. And oh those fritter rolls! Yum, yum!! Prices are reasonable. If you crave restaurants of the past with the supper club feel and some German heritage give this place a try. It's a gem nestled in a small town not too far from Sauk City.

Talk about the Land O'Big Food! In hindsight, my husband and I should have split a plate, because neither of us finished. Very traditional and well-prepared German fare - complete with red cabbage! - with a nice salad bar and strong beverages. It's easy to see how this place becomes crowded, so either get here early (we did) or don't show up already hungry. Our server was very attentive; impressive, given the size of the crowd.

Excellent, famous home style food for buffets and the menu has something for everyone. I especially like their Friday fish fry's and smorgasbord! The best German food around!!!

This restaurant is a true Diamond in the rough! Just passing through Wisconsin coming back from Devil's Lake and found this "Dorf Haus" in the little village of Sauk. Kathy is an amazing server so be sure to give her a nice tip when you visit. I ate two baskets of the sweet rolls since they are so darn good! Then got the Octoberfest to keep to the German theme with my Reuben, coleslaw and mashed potatoes with a pinch of salt and pepper. The food was amazing and I do recommend the coleslaw! I also recommend you do a tour because they have a golf course, arcade, antique room and amazing ballroom in the back for weddings and banquets. The original owners passed just recently and the restaurant has been handed down to their children. May this restaurant withstand the test if time!!!!

Fish Fry - Simple deep fry, great breading, perfect seasoning (salt/pepper), not oily, firm + flaky, 2 pieces at a time, but all you can eat! PERFECT basic fish fry 5/5 Fried Chicken - bone-in, 1/2 chicken, light crunch, bland. 3/5 Spatzle - served cool, kinda squishy, had much better, no flavor, no gravy. 2/5 Coleslaw - vinegar heavy (too tart for me), but wet. I added honey and salt. 2/5 Fritters - HEAVEN. This is small Indian Fry Bread: soft, light, fluffy, hot. Worth a lactaid! 5/5 German Potato Salad - warm, heavy meat flavor, didn't combine great for me. 2/5 Jalapeno Pretzel - seemed like store-bought-microwaved, cheese = can't, other said "YUM" Supper Club atmosphere - "Exemplary" = dark wood panel, cheesey bar, average lighting, basement feel, TVs, piano, ADDITION: German themed knick knacks. 5/5 Beer - OMG! Very different (German!) but yummy! I couldn't say the names, so they said "2 oktoberfests, 1 lager, 1 pilsner, 1 dark" I love it this SIMPLE. It's winter so of course a BIG dark beer was in order. We ended up sampling all of them, but we ordered another (small) dark. 5/5 Old Fashioned - It's not a real Wisco supper club unless they do Old Fashioneds, so ordering one is part of our "club rating system." First, they "sorta" muddle. They add 2-3 scoops of sugar, splash with soda (sweet vs sour), add 2.5 shots of liquor, then swirl it all so much to whip into a froth. Overall, not a great OF. 2/5 CONS - Holy Wait Batman! We arrived at 6:20pm and were told 1 1/2 hrs, but got sat 2 HOURS LATER! We were pissed, even for a Fish Fry on Friday at a highly rated place (we've waited at many places for 1 - 1 1/2hr; this is the longest). Then my partner ordered 1 spatzle, but we were charged for 2! I ordered Chicken to check consistency of the menu - the order was forgotten and came 10 min after the other entree. No apology + full charge = pissy customers. 1/5 Overall, Fish fry, beer, fritters, and the supper club "feel" are PERFECT, but we will have to think LONG and hard about a 40 min drive to HORRIBLE wait times. Too bad you can't order fish in the bar area. Too bad the back of the building is a "show room." Too bad the main dining area sits as many people as the bar area. 3-4 stars.

We met my grandparents here on Friday around 4:30p. Knowing full-well that their wait gets to be quite lengthy, my grandparents got our name in at 4:30p and we sat at 5p. This place is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside and there seems to be plenty of parking - you just need to be careful when crossing the street. The décor is pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a traditional supper club - dark, lots of wood and neat knick-knacks. The bar area is pretty small but they seemed to do a good job keeping up with drinks. I was excited to try their Old Fashion as I'd heard they make good ones. I thought they were ok. There wasn't any evidence of fruit muddled at the bottom and it was quite strong. The dining room is also pretty small and when it filled up it felt cramped, but thankfully not too loud. Our waitress was fantastic - super quick to greet us, inform us of the specials, etc. Our plates were cleared almost immediately and drinks never ran low. My Grandma mentioned the coffee being REALLY good. Their fritters were delicious, as most people mention. I was unimpressed with the prices - the only option for Fish Fry was an all-you-can-eat ($13.95) which didn't include a salad bar, that was an additional $4. No side salad option. My fiancé got the baked fish which came with a wimpy side salad. Both the fried and baked fish was good; the fried had a nice, light batter. The German potato salad was delicious but Grandpa said other places typically aren't as heavy on the vinegar. I thought the coleslaw was gross - had WAY too much mayo and not enough seasoning. Overall it was a nice experience but I'm not sure we'll go back. By the time we left at 6p there was a two hour wait. I can't imagine waiting that long for food. They also had a large wedding reception happening in the back room which made getting out of the restaurant tricky. The bathrooms are TINY (two stalls in the women's room) and the hallway to get there hosts the coat rack as well.

We went here for my birthday today and it was great. The staff were very friendly and the owners are great people. The food was so delicious and with very good portions. A wonderful experience from start to finish. Such great German food and original dining experience.

This was my families first time visiting this town and restuarant.... We heard about this amazing Buffett spread that the Dorf Hause puts on the 1st Monday of every month. We gathered up some friends and away we went to experience for ourselves. It was a bit of a drive for us, through the countryside, with deer everywhere, on some windy roads in the dark, but we didn't let that stop us. I think every person that lived in this town must have been at the restuarant this night and then some. The place was packed wall to wall. Thank gosh we had reservations so we only waited 10-15 minutes before being seated. Everyone was happy and smilings, engaged in conversation and laughter. The sounds of German beer steins clanking together filled the room. Clearly this is a Wisconsin family oriented place. This was a huge old German restaurant with several rooms, several bars, a game room, and and space for a ton of people. There were kids running around, kids dancing to live music, a live polish polka band playing up on a stage in front of all the diners. They even had a really awesome Santa Clause going around the place shaking hands, taking photos with children and handing out gifts to all the kids. Classy act and a good looking representation of Santa at that...... As far as the food goes they had everything... It was very clean and constantly checked by the staff. Every few minutes the kitchen was bringing out fresh food to rotate. It was a sight to see, a well oiled machine the amount of people they were serving. They had a salad bar to start with that had all the fixings. They must have had 10 different meats including schnitzel and German sausages. All the different side dishes you could think of from potatos, casseroles, noodles, coleslaws and more. Lastly they had trays and trays of various desserts. It was a sight to see.... We would love to come visit again! Next time we will bring some more newbies with us to share in on the fun. Prices were very reasonable... Stop in and check this place out. You will not regret it!
