Dormy Inn Matsumoto

Would have given 10/5 if that was possible. I made a ridiculous mistake of booking Dormy Inn Matsuyama instead and showed up at Matsumoto which gave the receptionist some trouble at first cos they couldn’t find my ‘booking’. After he pointed out to me, he quickly helped me with booking and check in at Matsumoto and even helped to cancel the wrong booking without cancellation charge! The room was very spacious and it was just awesome having onsen in the hotel so I can go anytime I want to. And the ice creams and yakult provided were great especially after onsen. The staff were all very helpful n friendly, and the hotel is so well located that I could just walk everywhere to sightsee. Oh and the washing machine provided is especially needed after my 3 day trek in kamikochi. And best part is that it’s free and even comes with detergent! Dryer isn’t free but it’s only 100yen for 20 mins which was enough to dry my clothes 80%. Hung them in the room and they were dry the next day.

Pretty nice hotel at a convenient location (only 6 minutes walking from Matsumoto station). Amenities are aplenty, with ample washing machines/dryers and hot springs, sauna and cold pools. Free ice cream during the afternoon/night and yakult in the morning are plus points. Complimentary hot ramen at night is great as well. Many places to eat after hours nearby. Also comes with free mango pudding upon arrival in the fridge, which is nice.Nice place to stay if you are planning to go to Kamikochi or just go around Matsumoto yourself or with loved ones.

Stayed overnight in Matsumoto before taking a bus to Kamikochi. This hotel is not far from the train station |Exit the station, use the East exit, you will see the ‘ Joy Joy ‘ building, follow this street and you will find Dormy Inn|Its a small 9 storey hotel and my one night’s accomodation was ¥18,705|Friendly polite English speaking staff|Before going up the lift, there is a cabinet where you can collect your toothbrushes, comb, shaver and other toiletries if you have forgotten to bring. Very generous!|The room is 23m sq but adequate size with a good size firm bed an a small firm pillow, my fav type! ( not stone hard la!)|I love they have extra basin in the corner with a mini fridge, kettle and hairdryer, on top of the usual basin in the compact bathroom, so use can wash your fruits, cups without disturbing your partner in the bathroom.|The hotel has a dual sex onsen, reasonable size with 3 pools, cold, warm and an outdoor even warmer pool. Good during winter, I reckon, fun when snowing!|The breakfast is adequate with a mix of Japanese and Continental dishes and fruits. Delicious and importantly clean and tidy.|To top it all, they provide free ramen at night to those who are suddenly ravenous!|And probiotic drinks and ice cream after your onsen dip|Oh they also provide free laundry ( theres 2 machines with detergen provided free too) but if you use their dryer its only ¥100|This is a lovely hotel and I am delighted to stay here. Will come again.

I was stranded in Matsumoto because I overestimated the travel time I had remaining to make the JR schedule. The Dormy at Matsumoto was perfect - the outdoor rooftop hot spring in the snow was one of my favorite experiences. Breakfast ended at 9:30 so I missed it - usually I think breakfasts end at 10:30. But they had free Hersheys ice cream, Yakult, coffee, and more throughout the small Disneyland-hotel-Ryokan.

Really good hotel in Matsumoto, very close to the train station. Has access to convenience stores and restaurants close by. The Matsumoto castle is close by too. Hotel has good amenities - especially the hot bath and sauna.

Conveniently located close to the station and about 1km easy walk to the castle. Our queen-bedded room felt cramped with two adults and a young child. The bathroom was tiny with a shower and no tub but there is an onsen on the 9th floor for those looking to immerse themselves. Free ramen and ice-cream is available after bathing. The hotel restaurant serves an adequate if pricey breakfast but there are few alternatives nearby for early risers as most local coffee shops and eateries don’t seem to open much before 9am. On the other hand, there are many lunch and dinner options available within easy walking distance.

Like the good hot springs, both indoor and outdoor, with sauna available in the centre of city. Also enjoy the breakfast buffet with variety of Japanese local food and tasty fruit. Free noodles for supper in night time as well. It is high value for money in the downtown.

Comfortable room with all the standard dormy inn provisions such as onsen, night time soba, free coffee and only for this hotel free nagano apple juice in the afternoon. Rooms are small and show signs of age and our room was very dark and closely facing an outside wall.
