Dormy Inn Nagano

Rooms and hotel amenities have everything you need - toiletries are just in front of the main lobby lift. Laundry room is within the onsen area at the 11th floor. Staff was very friendly and accommodated our request for extra pillows (highly recommended over the hard ones in the rooms). Free nightly ramen snacks, post-onsen desserts, free massage chair service were very nice gestures. Location was great, next to a 7-11 and near the train station. Great base for travel to surrounding areas such as the Tateyama Kurobe Murodo Alpine route and Kamikochi. Many locals stay here too.

This would be a good choice for anyone arriving on the Shinkansen - just walk round to the right on leaving the station and you will soon see the Dormy Inn name on the side of a building. The reception desk was helpful in dealing with our additional booking and luggage transfer requests.||The room was pretty cramped (as is usual for such chains). Note that the bed with its rather thin mattress is pushed against the window to make the room seem a little more spacious but, along with the single bedside table, can be moved so that the person sleeping on the window side has just enough room to access without clambering over from the base. There's no bath but the shower is powerful.||The onsen on the top floor is pretty good with both indoor and rotenburo outdoor pools (neither particularly hot), plus jacuzzi and sauna. There are also a couple of massage chairs that pummel the body in an initially bizarre and ultimately satisfying way.||The best feature of this hotel is the absolutely outstanding breakfasts in a spacious room that are well worth getting up in time to be seated by the cut-off time of 9am. There's an excellent selection of freshly prepared, largely Japanese dishes worthy of a much more expensive establishment.

It was a pleasant stay as all of us enjoyed the onsen after a long day after exploring Nagano. Location is great as it’s near to the station where you can easily get onto the train and local buses. Room is a bit small for a family of 3, recommend to get a bigger room with additional bed if you have a kid.

The hotel is located in a very convenient way near the train station. There's a convenience store next door. In the room, you will find a classic Dormy Inn arrangement, a sink when you enter, fridge and tea/coffee set under it. Then I had two single beds, a little table, 2 arm chairs, a big TV, humidifier and A/C. You will also find a safe (small) below the TV. In the bathroom, toilets and a shower cabin (no bath). The hotel provides a public bath on the last floor, with massaging chairs and coin laundry (NB: the laundry is located inside the bath) Good points: - location - public bath (indoor + outdoor) - good showering products - popsicles in the public bath area

Pros: located close to the station and near to bus stop or main road to Zenkoji.|Could move the double bed so that we could both get in and out at night.|Lovely onsen. |Free laundry service for washing and 100yen per 20mins for drying.|Cons: room was small but was workable and no smaller than expected in Japan

Room was a bit small by Western standards but perfectly comfortable with a little squeezing. The staff was kind and helpful with baggage forwarding. Location excellent.

Super near the Nagano station, has a superb range for breakfast; there's a decent hot spring with free popsicles at night and yakult in the morning; the same level has 2 massage chairs which are perfect after the hot spring; free ramen every night; freeflow of coffee and tea at lobby. It's a complete experience with good value for money
