Dormy Inn (ドーミーイン) is a chain of business hotels in Japan. They are all very similar to each other, so I apologize for not having photos.
They are all in a prime location, and all have a reasonable, mid-range price. Usually they share space with a family mart on their bottom floor, which is extremely convenient. The patrons are primarily Japanese businessmen, which means that they tend to be quiet and pleasant.
The staff rarely has good English skills, but they are always very helpful. They have helped us before with a rental car problem, which I consider to be above and beyond the typical hotel staff service.
Free onsen (public bath) at every location, usually free ramen, and a reasonably priced breakfast. The free ramen is basically just so that you don't go to bed hungry, so low quality. There is also usually a low-cost walk-in massage parlor.
They always have on-site coin-operated laundry. The wash machine is free, while drying is paid. Usually there's a vending machine for the soap, and every other floor has a set of vending machines for pay TV cards, beer, coffee, snacks, etc. There are microwaves on alternate floors as well.
Nagasaki's Dormy Inn is next to the Chinatown. The breakfast even has some Chinese items. The parking uses a parking elevator. The onsen is a little bit better than other Dormy Inn locations; the lockers are PIN operated instead of keyed as in other Dormy Inns.
The room is typical for Japan, meaning small by Western standards, but completely livable. The room includes a TV, water boiler, hair dryer, and empty mini-fridge. There is free internet, but it is wired-only, so you will need a real laptop and software like Connectify to setup your own WiFi hotspot, or a mini router. They may also have a small, not very useful, room safe.
For international travelers, bring a power strip (and the appropriate converter; Americans need one that removes the grounding pin). There aren't enough plugs to charge all of your electronics. If you travel with two phones, a rented WiFi hotspot, a tablet, and a camera, like I do, a power strip will simplify your life. Using a power strip also simplifies packing (just pack the strip with everything connected) and prevents you from forgetting a charger.
They will do package receiving, even before your stay. We ordered more than a dozen packages, and brought them directly to our room. They also can ship your luggage to any other hotel using the Yamato shipping service, which is quite useful if you don't want to carry something around with you.
Be sure to have the business card of the hotel, since many cities have more than one Dormy Inn, and your taxi driver may take you to the wrong one at your expense.
