Stayed here for a night, this was a rescheduled night due to the weather. There was no trouble changing the dates. The room was a good size, loved the little alcove bit with a chair at the window. Wee dram in the room is a nice wee touch. The tea/coffee tray is probably one of the best I've seen, in regards to selection and equipment, well apart from the tray itself. The bed was comfy and nearly had the pillows in my suitcase they were that good 😊. There was some thick dust in the room. Bathroom was nice, big towels with good complimentary products. Plus robes and slippers provided. The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, parking out the front. The decor is very fitting to the age of the building. The fire in the bar is lovely. Breakfast was good, sufficient selection. Will say the cereal bowls are enormous. Staff were efficient and friendly. Would definitely go back.

We had the nicest service while staying here and really enjoyed chatting at dinner! The food and drinks were very good and the gin and whiskey made there at Thompson Bros was top notch! The atmosphere was so nice and the rooms were very pretty!

The room was nice and so was the atmosphere. The staff was very friendly as well. The reason for 4 stars is due to the fact that the heaters didn't work at all. We got a space heater and it barely worked. For $142 we were expecting a much more comfortable stay, especially since it was below 0 outside and snowing.

Went for a meal in the private dining room. The food and the service were exemplary. The setting was fascinating and intriguing. Everything we were served was explained in detail and all tasted wonderful. The staff could not have been more accommodating. All our dietary requirements were not a problem.

We treated ourselves to 3 nights at Dornoch Castle Hotel as our one luxury stay on our 3 week NC500 trip. It didn't really live up to the luxury promised by the website or that we have experienced at other castle hotels in Scotland. Dornoch is beautiful, and the hotel is a lovely and impressive building at the heart of the village. Our room was very good and really big with a great view .|What stops the hotel from being special is the restaurant. Breakfasts are generic, a buffet that could be anywhere in the world - we wanted a Scottish breakfast fit for a castle ! The only hot food was bacon and fried eggs - where was the lorne sausage, haggis and black pudding ? Or scrambled egg ? The buffet breakfast was good - but it wasn't a Scottish castle breakfast. When I originally booked, the restaurant was a fine dining restaurant in the evening - the menu looked great . That's one of the reasons we booked. It was a big disappointment that the restaurant now does pizzas and burgers, it's not a Scottish castle restaurant. We ate elsewhere in the evenings. |Restaurant aside, we really enjoyed our stay - staff were lovely and the bar is great.

Wonderful experience for those Who love whisky and scottish Little villages! Spending a night in a Castle Is great! We felt very welcome, thanks to the kind staff, the Fireplace and the "medieval" atmosphere of the Village. The food Is excellent, the rooms are confortable. And last but not least, the breakfast Is One of the best I've ever had. For those who Say they don't have local food, we had: salmon, cheeses, bread, pastries and a kind of "pastrami", all local(and very tasty)! I surely raccomand It!

The Old & Rare Tasting at Dornoch Castle, led by Jamie, the Bar & Events Manager, was truly one of the most enjoyable and memorable whisky experiences I’ve ever had. Whether you’re a seasoned whisky enthusiast or a complete novice, Jamie’s ability to craft a bespoke tasting experience tailored to each guest is remarkable. His passion for whisky is evident in every aspect, from meticulously preparing each pour to ensuring you have the best possible experience. What sets this tasting apart is Jamie’s attention to detail. He goes above and beyond to make sure that not only do you get to try some truly rare and incredible whiskies, but you also enjoy every sip. If something doesn’t suit your palate, he makes it right. The vault setting in the castle adds an extra layer of magic, creating an atmosphere that’s as historic as it is special. Jamie’s engaging and personable nature makes the experience even more enjoyable. He’s incredibly humble and funny, always armed with a story for every situation. Whether you’re new to Dornoch Castle or a seasoned patron, his guidance throughout the tasting is exceptional. His deep knowledge of whisky and its history adds a richness to the experience. The bar at Dornoch Castle is a whisky lover's haven, boasting one of the finest selections of malts in the world. If you’re ever in Dornoch, the Old & Rare Tasting is a must—both for the exceptional whiskies and the passion, expertise, and personality that Jamie brings to every session.

One of the several hotels in Dornoch worth staying at if you are on the NC500 East. This place has an excellent Whisky Bar and is home to Dornoch Distillery. The beer garden is open in the Summer months so nice to get something to eat and a cool drink.
