Dornoch Castle Hotel - Whisky Bar & Dining - Takeaway Pizza

A pleasant experience in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Family-run with a family feel. The hotel is ideally positioned opposite the Cathedral, and the walk to the beach was a nice stroll after dinner. The dinner menu was simple, and we had very good pizzas. Our room was fine, clean and comfortable. In retrospect, we would have eaten in the bar for a more convivial atmosphere. Overall, we enjoyed our one-night stay.

I booked 2 nights here for my elderly parents and wanted them to have the best couple of days away. The staff at Dornoch castle hotel really looked after them and they had a brilliant time. The food was amazing and they thoroughly enjoyed it all with Mum even commented that her cappuccino was the best she's ever had! Their room was spacious and comfortable and everything felt so special. But the biggest thank you is to all the staff who were so warm and friendly to them. They thoroughly loved chatting and laughing with the staff and it lifted their spirits so much, we all appreciate it so much. Thank you.

We had a wonderful two-night stay at Dornoch Castle Hotel with our family of seven. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome—especially kind and accommodating with our 2.5-year-old (special thanks to Gail!). The private dining experience in the Vault was a highlight: fantastic food, lovely ambience, and attentive service—perfect for a special occasion. When the bathroom light in one room didn’t work, the staff promptly provided lamps and a discount, which we greatly appreciated. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic property, breakfast had plenty of good options, and the location couldn’t be better—close to the charming village and beach. Warm, welcoming, and full of character, this is a place we’d gladly return to.

Second time visiting, and much like the first everything was perfect. The setting is magnificent, the room faultless, and staff were beyond helpful. The food was almost as fabulous as the whisky selection. Bonus points to Jamie for spending the time to suggest drams to suit our tastes. A great experience.

My husband and I stayed in The Tower Room for two nights for our Mini Moon and it was perfect. Scotland is a very special place for us and Dornoch is a beautiful, classic Scottish town. We were very impressed with the castle style and original features. There is a world famous whisky bar of course and we did appreciate the complimentary dram of whisky (crisps, chocolate, coffee and biscuits) left in the room for our arrival. They also offer a free drinks token pp in exchange for not using the room clean services during short stays (and more drinks vouchers to celebrate our marriage). They are a ‘single use plastic free’ hotel which was great to see! There is a stunning beach (Scotland has the most beautiful beaches in the world) 7 minutes walk from the hotel and a Cocoa Mountain right next door (if you know you know!) we also ate at some local restaurants and there are some great options. We had breakfast at the hotel and the selection of fish, fruit, cheeses and pastries were locally sourced and very tasty. There is on site parking - but make sure you get back before the golf bros or it might be full as spaces are not reserved and you can’t guarantee how good other people are at parking…

Cozy sitting area in front, and there's another sitting area in the back. Very fine Scotch whiskey collection, and if you're not a whiskey drinker, there are cocktails available too. We went with the fish of the day and the pizza of the day, both very delicious.

Lovely room & comfy beds.|Attentive staff. Able to open sash windows which helped with the heat. Generally very pleasant though stairs were steep as to be expected. |Breakfast was streamlined by comparison with most country house hotels- cooked breakfast on offer was just poached eggs and bacon though the bacon was good quality.||We ate out - fish & chips which were very good.

A really beautiful building in a lovely town. The staff were extremely helpful and were informative and communicative before our stay. The restaurant staff were also very friendly. The room was smaller than I'd imagined and the breakfast was pricey. Overall though, great staff, great location.
