Dorothy Browns cinema, bar and bookstore

A different quieter experience then the traditional adrenaline filled activities. Located up a little alley in Arrowtown is this little boutique theater. Nice to relax in comfy seats and have some chill time. Traditional movie fare on offer along with cheese boards and wine and other alcoholic bevvies to take into the theater. The Den was a lovely small theater with only around 20 seats. Lots of dining options nearby as well to utilize before and after the movies.

They provided invaluable insights into what to see and do in Arrowtown, making the visit even more enjoyable.

So lovely here. Packed with anything you’d want for relaxing holiday. Variety selections of books. Well curated movie list. Also snacks and good drinks! The staff also really welcoming.

Iconic little place! Didn’t have time to stay for a movie sadly but the cinema rooms are adorable, gorgeous balcony Gin Bar and quite an amazing selection of books + nibbles.

Wonderful way to enjoy a movie in a boutique cinema. More like being in a nice lounge with some friends you don’t know yet! This place provides an experience that is the way movies should be watched. In the main Theater you always have intermission and plenty of drinks and nibbles to enjoy! You should try and see at least one movie in the den which is the smaller more intimate lounge style environment.

What a cutesy patutsey place just loved the homey sitting room feel and the staff were very friendly and keen on chit chatting about various movies and snacks 10/10 !1

We saw The Friend - the cinema was totally adorable and really unique. Such a cool experience to have on a rainy day in Arrowtown. Highly recommend.

A well stocked bookshop, pleasant Gin Bar, and comfortably delightful cinema. Great service from friendly staff.
