Dosa hut is a small simple place with basic furniture, nothing fancy. Food and service were good, especially chat papdi I enjoyed it alot. Free parking nearby was easy to find and convenient. The place is recommend for its food and quality, though the cleanliness can be improved.

The food was super tasty! We had Chicken 65 Biryani and Paneer Set Dosa and loved every bite. Their special Masala Tea was a perfect finishing after the lunch. Trisha, the staff, was so friendly and professional. I wish I could give them all the stars! 🌟

Curious if anyone who ate there on 23/09 found a shard of glass in their food ? I had a very concerning experience with my recent order. While eating, I felt something gritty, like sand, between my teeth. When I checked, I discovered a piece of glass in my food. Shocked, I spat everything out and found another small shard of glass. This is a serious food safety issue. Consuming glass can cause injury, and I was lucky to notice it in time. While the restaurant later offered me a complimentary dish, I don’t believe that addresses the seriousness of what happened. At minimum, a proper apology and assurance that food safety processes are being reviewed should be provided. I hope management takes this seriously, as no customer should ever have to worry about glass in their meal.

In paneer biryani, we found a piece of meat in it. I’m a vegetarian, and this is completely unacceptable. It’s very disappointing that the restaurant was so negligent with the food. Additionally, the dosa we received was burnt, and the noodles were not cooked properly.

The food is so delicious and such great value for money. Such great flavour combinations and filling meals, it’s so nice to be able to go out for a delicious meal and spend under $30 per person. Staff are also always really lovely!

I had a very unpleasant and disappointing experience at this restaurant, as I ordered a Chicken Dum Biryani and what I get is Colourful, Tasteless rice with 2 pieces of dry chicken that was totally gross and wouldn’t recommend anyone, didn’t want to spend a penny but still paid for this food, very disappointed.

Absolutely terrible experience. I went to this restaurant hoping for a nice meal, but ended up walking out without even eating. The waiting time was ridiculous—I waited for over 45 minutes, after taking order. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed and disorganized. No one acknowledged us, and an explanation was given for the delay is kitchen is busy. It honestly felt like we were invisible. If this is how they treat their customers, I don’t even want to imagine how bad the food might be. I didn’t stick around to find out. I finally had enough and walked out hungry and frustrated. Terrible service, poor management, and zero respect for customers' time. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The ambience was really good. The food was really amazing. Trisha was amazing! She was so friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience stress-free. She really went out of her way to help me and I left feeling super happy with the service. Thank you, Trisha!”

Yelp
This place is by far the best place I've ever ever been to for South Indian food. It is cheap and cheerful. You can expect a wait (even on Anzac day in the evening when most people are probably watching the footy) but not for too long. Food is served quickly. The menu is massive with over 50 kinds of dosa, more than 10 kinds of biryani, a range of indo-chinese options (like chicken 65 and gobi manchurian), a select number of North Indian street food (like papdi chaat and samosa chaat), even dessert dosa (like lindt chocolate cashew dosa) and lassi (avocado, plain and mango). My friends and I wanted to eat everything on the menu and with dishes ranging from 10.95 to 13.95, it was hard not to order EVERYTHING! We settled for kara lamb dosa, the chicken hyderabadi biryani and the gobi manchurian. Portions are decent sized. Food arrived within 10-15 minutes. The gobi manchurian was garlicky and battered and slightly spicy. The hyderabadi biryani was by far the best biryani I've ever had. It was spicy (the way Indians like it - so not overpowering enough to mask the flavour but just at the right level), came with a nice spicey chutney and yoghurt (or dhai). The kara lamb dosa was dosa stuffed with deliciously flavoured lamb mince served with the most delicious chutney I've ever tasted and sambar. The sambar was quite sweet and not what I'm used to but with everything else being spicy - the sweet sambar was a relief! Can't wait to make more frequent visits to Dosa Hut! Even my friend who lived in South India for four years said that the food was amazing and equal to the food he's had in the South of India. p.s. Don't go here if you want butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh and naan.

Yelp
Went here with friends who are regulars to try dosa. I normally can only find naan in The States and S.Korea. I had seen it in Singapore but didn't get to try it there. It was pretty airy and crispy. I think I got it with tandoori chicken inside which seems a bit different. The samosa I ate later on earned thus place another star (we took 3 to go) Not dry at all...best samosa I've ever had.

Yelp
Just had it yesterday. As a south indian its rare to find a good dosa. These guys have some serious game. I had the 70mm masala dosa and the hyderabad goat biryani. The sambar was a little tangy for my taste (almost like they had pickle mixed with sambar) but an excellent coconut chutney and raita. The mango lassi was a bit sweet but very great flavour. The place was packed. A testament about how good the food is.

Yelp
A consistently good place. The dosa are usually well cooked but recently I've been finding it impossible to not order the goat biryani. I also love the pani puri. I need to explore the menu more as the food is very good. Negatives? Sometimes they play rap music which has lyrics that just don't go with a family lunch! Also, they need to attend to the toilet. Smelly and dirty is not OK and reflects poorly on the managers and owners.

Yelp
We are really great fan of food specially Dosa, hence we visit every week once there just to have delicious Dosa! My comcern is regarding carless attitide of staff and the food service we got on Tuesday. There was a big thick hair in between masla dosa and i pointed out to one of the girl on floor and mentioned her to let whoever manger to know or the chef's as well. The worst part was she just throw that on floor and continue to do her duties rather informing them at first instance! Upon asking, she replied i will tell them they are busy...... That was shocking to hear!!!!!!!!!! I definetely want to take this matter to food safety victoria or in council because little mistake can cause serious trouble for anyone! I didn't ask them to replace new one or during checkout even i paid full price as my intentions not to take discount or argue with their staff rather be catious next time! Perhaps this is our and other friend's last visit there!

Yelp
One of the best south Indian restaurants I have tried in Melbourne. The biryani and dosas are very good. I recommend the hyperdad biryani rice and not the chicken 65 biryani, it's just saffron rice with chicken 65. You better ordering the normal chicken biryani rice and chicken 65. The lassi are also nice. The decor could be improved, but for value for money biryani rice and dosa try this place.

Yelp
Dosa! I first had dosa for breakfast one morning in India; it's pretty great that there's a place in Melbourne. They do a pretty authentic dosa with traditional varities and some "Western" adaptations too.

Yelp
Dosa hut tarneit...aweful...yukkie food...changed cook..to run bussiness in roxy....pathetic food...uncooked chicken....no salt or flavour in veggie food..dont waste money

Yelp
The bread in the pav bhaji is as hard as steel. And be prepared to expect your food doused in oil. Idly is dried up and has a crust over it. Manchurian is veg balls in a bowl of oil. Very disappointing, will not return. Esp with alternates like aangan right down the street.

Yelp
Amazing food we are regulars. Must try the chicken biryani and the dosas of course. Service can vary depending on the staff and how busy they are.
