Great Dosa place in Roncesvalles. Very rare to find South Indian food in this area. The $12.99 meal deal is the best priced option. You get a dosa , 2 pakoras and masala chai, Mon-Thurs only. South Indian food tends to be spicier than most Indian food. Even if you ask for the lowest spiced option, it will still be a little spicy, but with great flavour. There are many dosa filling options like cheese which is good for kids, as well as spinach,onion and the classic with potatoes. Worth checking out, try something different.

I recently visited Dosa Mahal because I was craving some authentic South Indian food, and I have to say, it exceeded my expectations! The restaurant has a warm and cozy interior, perfect for hanging out with friends or enjoying a relaxed meal. I started with their appetizers – the samosa, idli, and vada – all served with three different types of chutneys and sambar. Each dip had its own unique flavor, which really elevated the experience. Of course, the star of the meal was the special masala dosa – thin, crispy, and generously filled with flavorful potato masala. It was absolutely delicious! I also tried their onion uttapam, which was soft, fluffy, and topped with fresh onions that gave it a nice crunch. To finish off, I couldn’t resist their desserts. The gulab jamun was perfectly soft and syrupy, and the payasam was creamy and comforting – a lovely way to end the meal. What I loved most is that they have such a wide variety of dosas and South Indian specialties to choose from, making it a place I’ll definitely come back to. this place has amazing, filling food for very cheap prices. i was unaware the dosa was going to be that large, and i was pleasantly surprised. our server was very kind, and patient. the coffee was a bit plain, and burnt tasting. there was one area of the restaurant smelt a bit strange, but we moved, and it was fine. still, i really liked my meal, and i'll be returning here.

The highlight was the Mahal Special Supreme Thali — a generous spread with two classic dosas, idlis, vada, chutneys, hot sambar, ghee, and podi chutney powder. Incredible value for just $19.99! It's my second time here and I wanted to try the week day special which is 2 pakoras, masala chai & choice of dosa (plain or potato) or 3 veggie curries with rice or paratha. I got the 3 curries with rice and my friend got the dosa. I had a dosa on my previous visit The dosa is very good and the coconut chutney is excellent along with the sambar the third sauce I don't recall its name was ok too but my favourites were the others I wouldn't get the 3 veggie curry and rice again though. I had tomatoe curry which was like tomatoe soup, channa curry and a soy protein curry. None of them impressed me at all actually. So this was 2 stars But the dosa is 4 stars Service was good. The place is clean

I've been wanting to try some authentic dosa, and SIDM recently opened in roncy. My partner and I both shared the pakora and samosas, and we each got the dosa platter. With the dosa platter, you can choose your dosa type; for example there's spinach, onion, cheese etc. I ordered the plain dosa and my partner ordered the fried onion dosa. I enjoyed all the vegetables, curry and chutney that came with the platter, my fav was the potatoes and chick pea dal paired with the plain dosa. Super filling meal, cheap and delicious, and not super heavy post meal! Def recommend the dosa platter.

A great place for dosas - lots of different options. Loved the crispness of the dosa. Wished there was coconut chutney. The mint chutney was just about ok. The sambhar was awesome.

Fantastic food! I love this place and eat here often. If you aren't familiar with South Indian cuisine, this is a place to try. It's always delicious, and the staff / owner are friendly and welcoming.

Paid $16 for my food and I had to throw it out because it tasted like absolutely nothing. No flavour whatsoever. Could've poured water on my rice and it would've been the same experience.

Delicious dosas in West Queen West! You don't even need to go to Mississauga or Scarborough. Come on down to where Queen meets King at Roncesvale and you'll be delighted by the delicious South Indian food.

Back in a new location and thank goodness because this has been a long time favourite restaurant of mine. The food hasn't changed one bit and is as good and flavourful as you remembered. If you are in the neighbourhood and looking for something that tastes great and won't break the bank this place fills the bill.

So happy SIDM is back, and in my neighbourhood at the foot of Roncesvalles! For anyone who isn't in the know, this is the much-loved family restaurant that was forced to close their location in Bloordale more than two years ago due to a neighboring restaurant fire, and their landlord completely screwed them over. I am thrilled they're back in the 416. They opened a location in a Mississauga mall recently, but I'm sure it is too far for most of their loyal Toronto patrons. Well, we had their heavenly takeout tonight - dosas, samosas and pakoras, and what a wonderful reunion for our taste buds. Same delicious flavours, filling portions and the prices are basically the same as the old location (read: value for money). I will sum up this review in two words: eat here!

One of the only Dosa places around this area. In my opinion - the food was overpriced for the taste and quantity. Ordered - Fried Onion Dosa platter (thaali) and Idly sambhar. Won't be going back.

Great Food! Decent pricing. Beats having to go across town to Little India's Udupi Palace for Dosa and vegetarian thali. HOWEVER. Be warned...Stick to takeout during winter weather. We have been there twice since it opened...Once mid-December and again early February. It was uncomfortably cold both times in the eating area of this little restaurant... like eating in an unheated garage! On the latest visit we mentioned it to our server who mumbled something about the furnace but when we looked around there were zero vents visible in the entire room and it was so cold we sat on the metal chairs and froze although I had deliberately gone as close to the kitchen when choosing our table after the first experience. No kidding it was maximum 10 C in the place! I had on my parka with a down liner underneath, kept my toque on and my feet were cold despite 2 pairs of thick socks in my boots! We ate and ran. Many folks came in to collect their takeout orders, and maybe we should have done that too second time around but in my opinion a dosa is best eaten fresh and hot and I wanted to give the place another chance. Although I LOVE dosa I won't be back to this place until SUMMER. Disappointed.

Cute little authentic spot just by Queen and Roncy! Their medhu vadas were delicious! The only reason for 4/5 stars is the dosa came out a bit cold the first time so I had to request them to bring me a new one. Everything is reasonably priced. Great place in the West end for South Indian cravings!

Highly recommended . The food is spiced in a way that is balanced but exciting . Alway surprising . The Vegan Box special is our favourite. The Samosas are sublime...flaky pastry, never oily . The portions are generous and an excellent value. We buy for the whole family and always have leftovers.
