Double Arch Viewpoint and Trail

Recommend doing this alongside with the Windows hike as it’s almost the same parking lot. Short, easy trail to the really cool namesake double arch. Go stand underneath it for a cool perspective!

This park offers access to and views of multiple natural arches in the mountains. Great hikes, most of them are easily accessible by any visitor with no experience.

I had a perfect visit to double arch in mid November and we had the arch pretty much to ourselves ❤️ it is vast and so beautiful! The trail is 0.6 mile round trip with mild elevation gain.

This is an easy out-and-back trail starting from the parking lot. The trail is only 0.6-miles in length with an elevation gain of less than 100 feet and takes approximately 16 minutes to complete with no stopping. There are several interpretive displays at the trailhead with important information about the location. If you wish to avoid the crowds, you will need to start off early to avoid the late morning through late afternoon hordes of visitors. Finally, you will need to leave the babies at home since no dogs are allowed.

One of the best arches in the park and it’s a short walk from the parking lot. You can climb as far into the arch as you’re comfortable with. There are a lot of parking spaces, but this is a very congested/popular area so it may be difficult to find an open spot.

Double Arch is an incredible formation of arches within the Windows area of Arches National Park. Double Arch takes its name because of it consists of two arches that share the same stone as a foundation for both of their outer legs. Double Arch was formed by downward water erosion from atop the sandstone, rather than from side-to-side water erosion. To get there, drive 9.2 miles up the Arches Entrance Road, and then take the first right after Balanced Rock into the Windows section of the park. You will follow this road 2.7 miles to its end at a circle for the Windows Trail. The Double Arch Trailhead is located at the north end of the circle at the far north of the parking lot.While here, visitors might as well enjoy the surrounding sites; the trail to Double Arch is so short, and there are so many attractions packed into such a small area as the Windows. The Parade of Elephants, Turret Arch, the Windows, Cove Arch, Ribbon Arch, Elephant Butte, and the Cove of Caves are all within half a mile of each other. The hike length is only 0.5 mile round trip.

The Double Arch Trailhead is located at the Lower parking lot in the Windows Section. This .6 mile out and back trail is an easy hike with relatively little elevation gain. Apply named this trail leads to one of my favorite arches in Arches National Park, Double Arch. Be sure to take in some of the other adjacent rock formations along the way. One rock formation eerily resembles a face / bust...

Really unique arch! Feels like you’re in a circle or cube when you get close or inside of it! Really short walk to it. There’s the window arch with three arches at the top of the parking lot and this one at the bottom, if you do the top hike with the arches there’s a trail that cuts through the parking lot and will lead to this one or you can drive the very short time down to this one, it’s not far at all. Worth doing this one and the north arches though. Couple stops on the way to this one too. There were some arches behind this one but couldn’t see them, I think you had to go around or down from this arch to see it. Also very minor climb to get to the “top” of this arch to see the very end or be at the top, little tricky getting down though so be careful!
