Double Eye Café is one of those rare places where the moment you step inside, you feel the character of the shop as much as the aroma of the coffee. The interior is cozy and quirky, filled with eclectic décor—from vintage coffee equipment to playful gnome figurines—that gives the space a warm, lived-in charm. It’s the kind of café where every shelf seems to have a story. The coffee itself is the star. Their selection of beans, all clearly presented on the wall with detailed tasting notes, shows how seriously they take their craft. Whether you’re into fruity Ethiopian espressos, rich Guatemalan filters, or decaf that still tastes like real coffee, there’s something for every palate. Each cup feels expertly dialed in—balanced, aromatic, and memorable. Despite how busy it can get, the atmosphere stays friendly. The staff work quickly but never make the place feel rushed, and there’s an easy flow at the “Pay & Pick Up” station. Even with a crowd, the shop maintains that small local café soul that Berliners love. If you appreciate high-quality specialty coffee served without pretension in a unique setting, Double Eye is absolutely worth a visit. A true Kreuzberg gem.

The best flat white I’ve ever had in my life! And the pistachio croissant? Oh my goodness — the most delicious one I’ve ever tasted. I’m still craving it until now 😭🤍 So so good! We also bought Ethiopian coffee beans from them and they were really good. Highly recommended! Even after leaving Berlin, I still can’t stop thinking about your pistachio croissant 😭😍🤍 It was THAT good!

Damn, what a hidden gem in Schöneberg! This cafe really made a sophisticated commitment to master the art of coffee: The baristas know what they‘re doing and they provide an excellent service. One of the best coffees I’ve had in Berlin.

Google
Oh. What a lovely place. The coffee is brought to perfection. The Barista was professional and lovely.

Google
Definitely one of the best coffees in town. And all of the baristas here know how to make a perfect flat white. If it gets crowded, the espresso might lose its crema but they’ll make you a fresh one if you ask.

Google
The best coffee i had in Berlin so far, I'm always searching for deep coffe tastes that is rare to find in this city. such a cute lovely place!!

Google
The style is very unique. They also have pastry. I ordere ice latte which is kind of good. Coffee itself is not so outstanding. Milk flavor is quite think which makes the coffee smell good. The staff doesn’t smile so much but very helpful. The service is fast. I accidentally spilled a cup of coffee. They helped me clean and offered a new one.

Yelp
This is a very good coffee place with delicious creations and pastries. They accept cash only so please be advised.

Yelp
Those who are guilty of regularly hunkering down in a coffee shop with a laptop and leeching off the wifi for hours on end should stop reading this Yelp review now. Double Eye is about the size of a bathroom in an overpriced Brooklyn apartment. In other words, this coffee shop is the size of a shoebox. It's standing room only, with a small circular table in the middle of the shop for about three or four customers to crowd around and two wall ledges, one of which overlooks the street from the window. There are also some outdoor benches, but those are a moot point in the winter. While some of the Yelp reviews accuse Double Eye of being a bit hipstery, I didn't find any of the baristas to be aloof at all. Nor was the coffee overpriced. I even got a complimentary biscuit with my espresso, which was a nice touch. I'm not really an espresso person (is that heresy to admit while living in Europe?) but I thought it was pretty smooth. This place is definitely more of a takeaway coffee spot -- I think I'll be back to get an Americano to-go (which Double Eye offers as a cafe creme, as one of the beanie-clad baristas explained to me the last time I was there).

Yelp
Its really small coffee place. I am not a coffee fan but according to people with me, it is a great coffee they are serving. If you love coffee, stop by here.

Yelp
Nice coffee place, friendly service and super cheap! The coffee was great but this place is really really small. Much smaller than i thought and there are no seats inside! All standing tables
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent fruity and full espresso. I heard this was the best in Berlin, and while I haven't been here long, I can agree that it's exceptional at least by California standards.. This place is regularly packed--there is only standing room with a few tiny tables inside, and people end up standing outside holding their cups and saucers. It's worth sacrificing a little comfort for a taste! + very cheap and easy to access via U-Bahn.

Yelp
Checking Yelp means finding espresso highlights! I'm so happy, that I know about Yelp! On Thursday morning I talked to a colleague about having an espresso. We checked our close environment (nothing beside of a Nespresso machine). We checked the street w/ a hotel (nothing beside of a WMF machine). So we decided to check "Yelp" and "Car2Go" and went to Double Eye (which was like 5 km away). And ...??? Double Eye was great!!! A little, small coffee shop w/ one espresso machine and a few small table, but a very good and rich coffee. We got two double espressi for each 1.50 Euro. Good quality and nice service! Beside of coffee they offer some croissants and sweets. Outside where a few chairs and tables, which were busy like the shop. Due doppio per favore!!!

Yelp
The best Latte I've had in Berlin so far!! I've made the drive on a couple occasions already and plan to go again soon. Friendly staff and quite often a line out the door, which is a good sign. Even with the line the service is fast and friendly. Stay away from the overrated Einstein's or the far too many Starbucks!!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a take-away coffee place as there are only a few spots to stand inside. I tried a coffee there today and it was really really nice. I think it was "Coffee Crema". They asked loads of questions, how strong did I want the coffee, with or without milk, sugar, etc... The prices are quite nice as well! I would definitely go back when in the area again. Their Pastel de Nata is an authentic Portuguese sweet and excellent! This review was written in 2009.

Yelp
It would be apt that my 700th review is for a coffee spot not in NYC. Not timed, I promise. Of the coffee shops I went to in Berlin, I loved this place most. Latte was delicious and there were nice treats. The area was also great for wandering which is probably why I liked it most.

Yelp
A perfect place for vegging. The coffee they make is an art. Perfect taste. The staff is extremely friendly. Gives you suggestions if you are too bored to choose a drink. The brewer having won so many awards, this place is always packed. Seating arrangements are only outside. Drop in if you want to have the perfect coffee to begin your day with.

Yelp
Arno is still the godfather of coffee in Berlin. No bearded staff with cool tattoos, only the best coffee
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
This is a great place, and has been so for many years. I know the shop from way back when the owner Arne was the main barista, and the quality was exceptional for every coffee based drink. IMHO it still is best when he is in but you nearly always get a great drink from his knowledgeable staff. The selection is great! If you happen to drop by in summer you definitely have to taste the espresso-granita-mix, that is like a dessert. Enjoy the latte art on the capuccino and and mingle with the crowd that frequents the hip place. The bearded guy with glasses you often encounter is the owner of a nearby shop that specialized in textiles from the 60s. I wonder when he is in his own store ;-) The philosophy is: serve the best coffee drinks with a smile, and don't charge more than you did when Germany had the D-mark. An espresso that used to cost 1,50 DM is not 0.76 EUR - they even rounded it off. You won't find that anyplace else

Yelp
2009: Points for quality:price ratio, points for "they're experts in what they're doing" but minus point for that one service person who is oh so cool and full of himself, another minus point for it having turned into a yuppie-mother toddler treff (I'm outta here)... Update 2010: I went back, the arrogant service person was nowhere to be seen, and the yuppie mothers are still there but this time did not distract. shrug. This one has my recommendation.

Yelp
By far the best coffee place in Berlin.and trust me, i tried a lot! The prices are good and i just love their little cookie that comes along with the coffee.

Yelp
Offered flat white and Pastel de Nata. A very relaxing place.

Yelp
Almost certainly the best espresso based coffee in Berlin. Reasonably priced at around 2.20 for a latte. Well worth a visit, the only negative is that it doesnt open on Sunday.
google avatar

Julius F.

Yelp
Great coffee, extremely friendly staff, good pastels de nata - perfect place for a quick coffee boost on a Saturday afternoon!
google avatar

Hannah V.

Yelp
Absolutely the best place for a milchcafe in Berlin. I recommend it with kein Zucker. I went here nearly every other day while studying abroad for a year in Berlin. They also carry a few random products that you wouldn't expect in a tiny coffee shop - especially Guarana Antarctica, a Brazilian soda that I'm in LOVE with.
google avatar

Tom H.

Yelp
Not impressed. Having been to 'the barn' 'five elephants' and 'no fire no glory' this place is much worse. I really don't think our barista had ever made a cappuccino or cortado before. The cortado was an espresso shot (without any milk) and the cappuccino 'art' looked like vomit and didn't taste like anything special either

Yelp
This cafe is pretty close to where we stay while in Berlin. We love everything about it and the staff is super friendly. If you're in the area give it a try!
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic coffee. Very inexpensive. Always polite and warm staff. Quick service. Nice pastel de nata and great roasts on offer, too. The best thing is the lively atmosphere generated by the Brazilian inspired coffee, design and the truly dynamic young xrows. Another plus: DoubleEye has free daily newspapers. The only thing to improve would be at least one or two international newspapers like El Pais or Le Monde or the ny times. And of course: (contactless) card payment couldn't hurt now, could it?
google avatar

Yelp
The best coffee I've encountered in Berlin, and cool too, but expect the line to stretch outside if it isn't freezing out. The thing I can't quite figure out is how I lived in Schöneberg for months before finding this place.
google avatar

Gemma S.

Yelp
Reading all the reviews about this place gave me high expectations and when I arrived to see ONLY coffee available and NO seating I was extremely sad. Wish this place was larger. People were sitting on the group drinking their coffee and it would have been great for them to at least have a couple of tables and chairs outside besides the benches they have. Headed over to Bilderbuch instead but wish I could have sat and had a drink here.

Yelp
Great coffee and super willing to meet our American needs or tastes. We got two large cafe lattes. One mild espresso blend and one dark espresso blend. Since we are also used to vanilla lattes we asked for two scoops of sugar which was perfect. My husband liked the mild espresso which was smooth and sweet. I had the dark espresso which was more tangy but still very good. We walked over two miles to have their coffee but it was delicious. Keep in mind there isn't any room to sit and chill. This is a get your coffee and move along sort of place.

Yelp
best cappucino i ever drunk!!! very very cheap

Felizitas L.

Yelp

Clara D.

Yelp
Wow. I've lived in Berlin for four years totally. The first time I passed by this place was when I lived in wilmersdorf but I never went in. Then my dad came to visit and we wanted some really delicious morning coffee. We swedes drink loads of coffee and are very quality sensitive. We ordered a cappuccino and a little tart. We very both hugely impressed by the quality. If you love coffee and are in Berlin it's worth visiting Schöneberg for this cute and awesome place.

Yelp
The coffee in this bar is so good that it shames 90% of bars in italy. As an italian émigré, double eye is one of my favourite spots to get the'real stuff'. The barmen won multiple world and European championships and offers a variety of italian and spanish coffee specialties. You can also get wonderful pastel de nata.
