The only thing that let down our stay was the size of the bathroom. My husband and I couldn't both be in there at one time, it was extremely small. The bed was super comfy, the room was very clean and fresh. The view was great. We used the gym a couple of times. There wasn't always fresh towels and there was never any hand soap but the gym itself is great! The location is amazing. Overall we loved this hotel. We parked up and walked everywhere, even to the Pier Bar for our family event. The digital key is a bonus too. The cookies and chocolates on arrival was a great touch - and so delicious!

I had a wonderful first-time experience visiting Cairns, and staying at DoubleTree by Hilton made it even more special. From the moment I arrived, Manami at the front desk made me feel truly welcome. Her warm smile and friendly conversation created such a positive first impression, and it set the tone for the rest of my stay. The room was a good size, very clean, and comfortable—just what I needed after a long day exploring. There are many hotels around this area, but after this experience, I’ll definitely be choosing DoubleTree by Hilton again for my next visit. The service, the atmosphere, and especially the thoughtful staff like Manami made all the difference. Highly recommended!

Absolutely incredible! The hotel offers a fantastic breakfast with a great selection. Its location on The Esplanade is very convenient. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the room we had was large and spacious with a decent bathroom. The entire hotel is new and modern, looking pleasant both inside and out compared to other hotels. Although the pool was under renovation, it wasn’t a concern since the Esplanade Lagoon was nearby. We had a memorable stay and highly recommend this hotel.

A bit outdated rooms and foyer areas..is in need for a good renovation. The beds were too soft for my tastes , but the pillows compensated for it. Other than that , everything was perfect. The best part of double tree are the warm cookies they offer on arrival. I had requested the recipe for the same, which the team happily obliged. A very friendly staff and really helpful.Rooms were clear and well sized. Keep up the good work.

We stayed during school holiday, and the hotel is on renovation. Everything in the room is good. The location is very handy, only short walk to the night market and to the Rusty Market.Check in service was a bit slow, but she gave me warm cookies fresh from the oven. Paid parking on the basement, otherwise free off streets parking in front of the hotel.

We recently stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Cairns, booking 2 rooms for 4 nights, and had a truly wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff made us feel incredibly welcome, with their warm smiles, thoughtful service, and of course, the signature chocolate chip cookies which were absolutely delicious! A special thank you to the front desk staff who went above and beyond to try and upgrade our room, we appreciated the effort and genuine hospitality. This time, we stayed in a lovely room with a balcony, which offered a relaxing space to unwind. Next time, we’d love to stay in one of the rooms with a Mountain View, which we heard are even more stunning. Everything from the location to the comfort of the rooms contributed to a great stay. The only suggestion we would make is for housekeeping to be a bit more detail-focused when it comes to cleaning, especially in the corners and less obvious areas. Overall, we had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning. Thank you, DoubleTree Cairns team, for making our visit so enjoyable!

They welcomed us with a cookie, which was a nice touch. The staff were very kind. We were also looking to plan a trip to some islands, and one of the staff helped us gave a great travel recommendations. The room was quiet, clean, and had a beautiful view. It’s very close to the beach and surrounded by many restaurant😚

The hotel is undergoing reservations so there isn’t any available outdoor space or pool. The rooms are nice, big comfortable. Housekeeping is above average. Gym is very hot and we found it not well maintained. Coffee is available in the room but it is not good and if you are an early riser they refuse to get you coffee before 6:30. I went for some at 6:15 and they said come back at 6:30. Otherwise it is a nice hotel in a good location

Yelp
My girlfriend and I had a great time at the Double Tree. The service was fantastic and the employees were really kind. The breakfast was like nothing I had seen before back in the sates, So many options. It was really good. I would recommend it for anyone wanting to stay. Morgan at the front desk was really nice as well.

Yelp
Do not book and stay far away from here. We had booked two double with balcony and we arrived they didn't have any rooms close in proximity although that is what I requested. So they sent us to our rooms and they were horrible, the stench was unbearable, they smelled stuffy and moldy. When I looked up in the ceiling I could see the mold in the ceiling in different places. I went straight to the front desk and asked for new rooms, he gave me keys and had me walk around and look at a few rooms to pick some that I liked. After 3 different rooms of the same mold and stench we finally found two bearable rooms that had clean ceilings. This is a very old hotel I would never stay here again nor would I recommend to anyone looking for a good, clean hotel. I usually love double tree hotels by Hilton but this one was horrible. I felt disgusted to sleep in the bed or walk around on the filthy carpet. Stay far away from this place. It's nothing like what we have in the states. Someone needs to have the health department inspecting these rooms and facilities. Bad management. Worst part is, the young fellow at the desk told his manager someone had complained about rooms smelling, and they still tried to pass these rooms onto us. Rubbish hotel and Rubbish service.

Yelp
The hotel is big, looks a little dated but the rooms are comfortable. Ocean view rooms are nice if you can get it. With HHonors status you get free wifi and breakfast. The wifi was pretty bad in the rooms. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, plenty of options. You are also eligible for late check-out, but don't count on it if the hotel is full. The location is about 5 minute walk from the center of downtown and all the small restaurants. If I'm ever back in Cairns, I would def. stay at this hotel, decent price and location.

Yelp
The staff of the hotel are very helpful and friendly. I have not met a more cheerful and helpful bunch. The hotel itself was OK for a doubletree. After our first night here, I found small ants crawling on the counter and around and in the hotpot. They were everywhere and I had my partner ask the front desk if they could move us to another room. Thank goodness that they were able too. The hotel could use a bit of revamp on the outside in my opinion. It looked drab as compared to our other choice, the Hilton. Location wise, it was fine, as everything in the city is walkable. As long as you like the bats. But if you are planning to take a boat to the great barrier reef, it would be better to stay in a hotel closer to the harbor. It was an enjoyable stay, but the ant issue seemed to leave me with a nervousness throughout my stay. As I was on the lookout for ants the entire time.

Yelp
My rooms view was amazing, watching the bats and parrots at night was unbelievable. Most things were great here, could do better would be more staff at breakfast, the staff that was working was being run ragged trying to keep the buffet stocked. Also no happy hour or executive lounge for diamond members was not as advertised. Pool and food were both solid. Room was good, AC took quite some time to cool room after door was opened.

Yelp
Got a pretty good deal here. Only paid AU$345 for a 3 night stay. That being said, as others have mentioned here, the property is a little dated. However the rooms are clean and modern. Well sort of. First night stay was fine until we woke up the next morning and discovered a trail of ants in the room. We asked to switch rooms, which they did. The 2nd room was fine. We also tried the breakfast buffet in the hotel on day 2. A little pricey for breakfast but it was convenient and offered a continental style or hot breakfast. The hotel is conveniently located and everything is within a 20-minute walking distance. The staff here is also very friendly and helpful. We walked by the Cairns Hilton which is near the boardwalk. That is a nice hotel. I figured that the Double Tree was more centrally located as opposed to the Hilton Cairns which was on one side of town, plus the Double Tree was more reasonably priced. In hindsight, I should've splurged the extra AU$30 a night for the Hilton.

Yelp
I decided to stay at the Doubletree because I didn't feel like paying for the Hilton in Cairns and I had previously stayed at a Doubletree in the US and found it perfectly good in quality and service. The thing that stood out for me in positives was that the staff were friendly and very helpful when I stayed there. The location of the Doubletree in Cairns is also exceptionally good, with it being across the road from the Esplanade. It's also a short walk to the restaurant strip. As a few other reviews have pointed out, the building itself feels tired. Upon reflecting on this, I think the building is suffering from very specific issues. Firstly, the exterior looks a bit tired and drab because it seems it hasn't been cleaned and/or repainted for a few years. This is a common thing I've noticed with a lot of buildings in general (not just hotels). There was also an expected amount of wear and tear on the exterior. I found the interior of the rooms to be of good quality. Carpets and other fittings appeared reasonably new. If anything really stood out in the room that suggested refitting was needed, it was the air conditioner control being analog with no digital temperature setting. That being said, the air conditioner was very good at combating the heat and humidity in Cairns. I also found the bed to be one of the more comfortable ones I've slept in, with the height being closer to the ground (seems like I'm having to jump up into my bed in some hotels) and not too soft a mattress (again, feels like I'm going to be swallowed by the mattress in other places). In summary, the facilities were functional and no frills, but the location and staff definitely added to the experience.

Yelp
This hotel is really good for my trip in cairns. The service can cover my need mostly and the staff are patient.

Yelp
Sure it's a little dated, but Cairns is a little dated. The room, however, was very comfortable, and I'm glad we splurged for an ocean view room because THAT VIEW!!!!!!!! I would gladly wake up in a hovel each morning if it afforded me that splendid view... The DoubleTree, thankfully, is nowhere near hovel status at this point. Staff was friendly. Wifi was terrible. As a Hilton Honors member we got free wifi, but it was seriously a joke. (Pro tip: sign up in advance of your trip for Hilton Honors rewards program. It's free and there are perks, even if that perk is shitty wifi). Their onsite travel agent, Sue, was an absolute pleasure and a wealth of information. Definitely take advantage of her local knowledge. We were thankful the hotel is situated on the outer edge of downtown Cairns allowing us a fairly quiet place to retreat to when the throngs of tourists became too much to bear. That being said, you are still only a couple minutes walk into the chaos. I'd stay here again if for some reason I found myself back in Cairns.

Yelp
You get what you pay for. Rooms are small, but clean. Front desk service is alright, every time I talk to the person at the front desk, he or she has to call someone else to answer my questions (what is the wifi password? where is the nearest grocery store? can we borrow a couple of outlet adapters? where can we find these travel adapters?) The only reason why I gave this place three stars is because they have a really good breakfast buffet that had Australian, Japanese and American dishes. Although it was pricey, it was worth it.

Yelp
The wifi is awful. First you still have pay extra for having wifi in your room, very 2000s. More importantly, it simply doesn't work. Take forever to go to the register page and it doesn't register. I called the receptionist for help and he had no idea how to fix it and no intention to help. He Just gave me a number for the IT department. Yes, I'd love to spend my vacation time to talk to IT department so they can tell me to restart my phone and and reboot my laptop. The second day we were promised by the hotel manager to have a wifi signal booster, then we were told later there were no booster available anymore. Never knew wifi "technology" were so complicated. So we ended up have no internet in hotel room the whole time, and we had a wonderful 90s style vacation.

Yelp
This was a great location and friendly staff. Beautiful views from the room with balcony. Highly recommend this spot. Great value and right there in the action. everything you could possibly need is a short walk away. This is by far the best spot we stayed while on vacation in Australia

Yelp
Overall our stay was an enjoyable one. The staff struggled to deal with the volume of patrons and it was a wait to get a room and check out. The breakfast service was very reasonable and incorporated a beautiful vista overlooking the river. The interior of the hotel was also a picturesque setting with interior gardens and open spaces.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here when we wanted to spend a few days exploring the rainforest and the reef. It was the perfect homebase for us, very hospitable staff, lovely, clean accommodations and easy to walk anywhere in Cairns. If you want to stay somewhere nice and don't want to break the bank this place is perfect!

Yelp
The hotel building is a little dated and shabby. Our room was clean but I wish the bathroom had a vent to help with drying things - the towels never dried out completely so we just asked for fresh towels every day. The wifi was pretty bad in the room, and we were only on the 2nd floor. I doubt it would be better on the higher floors. We had breakfast every day at the hotel and the buffet was fine. The breads and pastries were always covered with flies though which was gross. I had an omelet from the kitchen that was good. As Hilton Diamond members we were given two passes - one for a drink and one for a nonalcoholic drink and small appetizer. They weren't kidding with small. My husband chose the buffalo wings and what showed up were three charred overfried lumps. Inedible. The service was great in the morning but incredibly slow in the early evening in the bar. We waited 25 minutes for the wings. The location is excellent though - 5 minutes to the main esplanade and about 15 min walk to the central train station.

Yelp
A little dated, but it is a pretty good value for the location. The unlimited warm chocolate chip cookies at the front desk is a huge plus. Just keep in mind there's like 31 g of fat per cookie. The hotel is within walking distance of the Esplanade and a couple of miles from the airport ($22 AUD cab ride). The Marina is also within walking distance for all the reef tours. I think the hotel is a pretty good base camp, for $110-$120 per night it hits the sweet spot of not being too ghetto, but not breaking the bank.
