DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Metropolitan - New York City

This is our second time here and I wish I had remembered we were here before. This hotel is really tired. The room decor is dated, there are cracks in the walls, the bathroom fixtures are stained and worn. The bathroom is so small that the toilet paper roll is two feet higher that it should be. The buffet breakfast is mediocre. The oatmeal was watery and tasteless. The cut fruit was okay. The muffin I had was also okay. We arrived before check in time and had to pay $1 per bag to store and $1 per bag to retrieve it. Nothing about this hotel is warm or inviting.

Had a great time in NYC, but the hotel was a massive let down. Upon arrival the room wasn't ready so we had to pay to store our luggage at $1 per item (and the same price to get it back).They also charge you $200 at the desk for incidentals - why they don't take a swipe of a credit card is anyone's guess. The rooms are really shabby and tired - nothing like the pictures! Disappointing after a long journey! They need a revamp. The furniture is worn and marked, our bathroom door was falling apart at the bottom with damp from the shower, the bed was like a marshmallow and it was generally dusty and unclean - i could write my name in the dust on the bedside table! No shaver ports either which was bizarre! I'd strongly advise staying elsewhere. The bellboy staff are friendly and helpful, but I feel the hotel is very poor. Disappointed!

Front desk staff was extremely friendly as were the Bell staff and doorman. Hospitality staff did great keeping our room clean. We didn’t even mind the bathroom size or our view. Our room seemed almost sound proof. The bed was perfect and my wife and I slept very well each night. The downsides; there is no coffee maker, fridge, microwave or room service. It seems Hilton is getting out of the hotel business and trying to become a timeshare. So if you stay expect to go down to the restaurant on the first floor each morning and pay $3 a cup for coffee. And the $$$ breakfast buffet at their restaurant? Skip it.

hotel is at good location and staff are generally very polite and friendly. room is clean and comfortable bed. was offered a warm chocolate cookie as a warm welcome. Was given a card to "collect a complimentary gift", turned out to be a trick to sell 90min time share presentation. There is no complimentary wifi except in Lobby, and rooms are dated. did not appreciate absence of in-room mini fridge and coffee machine/tea.

Great location to Grand Central and within walking distance of all the top attractions. Stayed here for my anniversary and was upgraded to a junior suite which was a lovely treat. The room we had did have a very noisy air con you couldn't turn off or down unfortunately. Also being a silver honours member the hotel should offer free luggage storage as I think being charged for 2 small day backpacks is a bit rude. The staff were friendly but did have to ask for our cookies when checking in.

Stayed here for four nights over Christmas. The check in was a breeze, staff were personable and helpful, bar was cozy. Rooms were fine. Perfect for price point. Great tv channel selection. Elevators were fast. Lobby was very festive for the holiday. Cute! We had a king bed and the teens had two doubles. They put us on the same floor which was considerate. I’d stay here again in a minute. Perfect location, friendly people. It’s not a five star but I didn’t expect five star for the price. I don’t go to NYC to sit in the hotel, so this one was perfect given the clean and adequate accommodations, pleasant staff, and awesome location.

Great location and the staff were nice and accommodating. Traveled to this hotel via Uber from Newark after a cancelled flight and countless hours waiting at the airport. Got to the hotel at 3 AM and the staff were nice and offered us the chocolate chip cookies (which are amazing) even at such a late hour. The staff also gave my aunt and I two double beds without us requesting them even though we had to settle for one Queen bed upon booking. This little detail was a great convenience for us. The 5 night stay as a whole was very enjoyable. The only criticism I would give is that the heat was on the whole time and you could not adjust the system to put on the AC. My aunt and I are very hot natured so thank goodness for the open window. The only thing we were able to adjust was the fan speed. Otherwise though, great hotel and would recommend to anyone. I will definitely be back! Also, housekeeping was on point!

Check in was flawless and location was amazing. I called the night before check in as I saw all of the bad reviews but was assured by the late night desk staff that room 1551 was a good corner room. Room 1551 stands in need of major upgrades and surely to the bathroom and closet. During the shower condensation formed on the ceiling and the water was dripping back down on you. Also the paint was peeling off the door. Visible defects that I know maintenance could handle. Mattresses were a bit hard as well. As a Hilton Honors friends and family member I wouldn’t stay here again. I wish I would have cancelled and booked somewhere else as me nor my friends felt totally comfy per usual. The good thing is that for our short overnight stay we didn’t find it necessary to complain.
