A good room in an ideal location with superb service.
We spent a mini weekend staycation here for 2 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff at the front desk were extremely inviting, warm, and helpful. Check in was very fast and we had no issues.
Our room, which delightfully turned out to be a corner unit, had everything we needed and I would describe it as cozy. It was not the most spacious, but at the price point and location, I think it met our expectations. It was clean and did not have any funky odours. The heater worked very well, the TV had a good number of channels as well as streaming apps, and the bathtub was a godsend and it was usable. We also had quite a good view. The noise suppression impressed me, both from the outside and from the hallway. There was virtuously no outside noise and it made sleeping incredibly easy.
There were of course a few minor eyesores, such as some questionable caulking in the shower/tub, scrape marks around the vanity/furniture, etc., and the TV was precariously hanging at an almost comedic angle, but nothing that I’d consider unreasonable. The mattress was not as firm as I’d find utmost comfortable, but I think for most guests it would suffice. The choice of soft and firm pillows was adequate, however I will say the bath towels were very rough and not at all soothing.
What made this place stand out to us, and what was a big deciding factor in our pursuit to find somewhere to stay, was the pool. We were slightly unprepared for the [public pool-esque] changing rooms at first, and the fitness room overlooks the pool which we are never big fans of, however the water was incredibly refreshing. I cannot say for certain, but it almost felt like a very mild saltwater. The pool area has limited seating/loungers, and given the relatively small size of the pool I could see it getting crowded fairly easily, however thankfully it was not busy when we went. We had a great time swimming all things considered, and just the availability of a pool in this location was super enticing.
The location of the hotel is great - close by to nearly everything. There are good restaurant options in the surrounding blocks for every meal, shoutout to the 24/7 Denny’s and Duke of Cornwall, and of course close to the eaton centre, hospital, university, queens park, etc. Lakeshore/the entertainment district may be a little bit of a hike and would be doable in the warmer Summer months, but it’s a short and relatively affordable cab when it is too cold.
Overall we had an enjoyable and satisfying stay, we left with a good impression and would definitely recommend and return if/when the need arises.
