LOCATION: On Lafayette near 1st street. There aren't really any restaurants or stores close by. There's a small gas station across the street and a dive bar around the corner. There's a nice deli (open for lunch) a couple of blocks away. The Fort/Cass people mover is about a block away. There are a lot more food options on Woodward, which is about a 10 minute walk. It's a little creepy at night when there's no one else around on the way there except maybe a bum.
INSIDE THE HOTEL:
-BearClaw coffee shop in the lobby that is opened until 4pm. Besides beverages, they sell oatmeal, granola bars, prepackaged sandwiches, salads, parfait, bagels, and pastries. There's also a tiny section of medicine and toiletries, which is nice since the hotel doesn't have a gift shop. I was hoping they might carry contact lens solution, but they don't.
-Round Bar - The food here is pretty good and "happy hour" is excellent. Happy hour is M-F 5p-7p, $3 draft, $4 house wine, $5 cocktails and appetizers (chicken wings, potato skins, sliders, zucchini sticks, and chicken quesadilla). There's also a sushi menu, but the stuff I've tried weren't good at all.
-Fin and Porter Restaurant - This is where breakfast is served and is right across from the Round Bar. I tried having dinner here once, but they said they don't do dinner every day, so I never ate here.
ROOMS: Most are suites (separated living room area), but some are regular non-suites rooms. Some rooms have a fridge and a microwave while others don't.
PARKING: There is no self-parking, only valet for $23/day. There's a parking right next door that charges $10 for parking.
If you have gold status or above at Hilton, then they will give you a breakfast voucher good for breakfast in their restaurant. I asked for mine to go and they gave me a container to put stuff in. The staff here are very nice and friendly. The selection is decent - oatmeal, fruit, bagel, pastries, cereal, yogurt, sausage/bacon, and eggs.
