On the Grid : Dough Boys Donuts

"Bruce may not know your name but you'll know his after only one visit to this local gem. "Hey Bruce," you'll hear from one of Dough Boys regulars; an LAX worker buying his daily scratcher or an Airport cop coming by for his 3rd cup of coffee. I come for the glazed buttermilks and the coffee Bruce lets me pour myself. I'm proud to know the guy, and though I'm not as much a regular as the other Joes, he knows me---maybe not by name but for sure, by face. What else can you expect from a guy with this many friends? Also, best donuts in town...and sandwiches, egg rolls, and ice cream!" - Eat.Sleep.Work.

Google
Donuts are make fresh every morning. Open 4Am-9PM. The best value for donuts and coffee. I found this place when my donut shop close around my corner. Now I have to walk 20 minutes for my morning coffee and donuts.

Chris R.

Google
After my local donut spot shut down (RIP The Donut), I gave Dough Boy a try, and I’m glad I did! The maple old fashioned donut was yummy and sweet, and all I want out of a normal donut shop donut. Staff was very friendly and attentive. At $1.50 per donut, you really can’t beat the value for a quick bite.

Nathaniel E.

Google
This place is amazing. The store owner/ worker was so so nice when we came in and fast (we were in hurry). He even threw in some donut holes for free. Prices are reasonable and donuts tasty. Will come back anytime I am remotely close. Please come here!

Randall B.

Google
I've been here a few times now between 5:30-6:30am, and the donuts are always freshly made that morning. The dough is light with that fresh-baked chewiness, not dry or greasy. I could say they're an above-average donut shop, nothing special. But, if you're in the area on any given day, you will probably skip all the other donuts shops around in order to get your donuts here. They definitely do not disappoint. Plus, the staff are always super friendly and welcoming.

Google
Best donuts and sandwiches! Services is great and the prices are fair.

Google
Just had a lovely breakfast donut and a coffee. Very good service here.

Google
Nice staff, delicious donuts & the best bacon/egg/cheese croissant I've had! They also have some outdoor seating for those with dogs. The restaurant is quite dirty...NOT like health code or anything, but they just need to do the daily stuff like dusting, cleaning counters/tables/chairs, floors, etc. We would eat here again & recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It was my first time actually coming here. The line was insane; non stop. However, the wait is not too long. The shop is pretty popular in the airport area. I first tried their mocha blend and their turkey samich on a croissant; one of my coworkers offered. And I hadnt made lunch so JACKPOT 😍 I LOVED my order. So each time my coworker offered, of course I ordered. A few days ago, I was early to work. So I had time to actually go to the shop. I ordered a french vanilla blend, a breakfast samich, my turkey samich, a mocha blend for my co worker, nd a choco donut for another co worker. There were about 3 people before me. I was there for 15 min nd in those 15 min another 8 people constantly walked in. Fresh made croissant samiches nd coffees 😍 And the price??? I spent about $20 just on the order. I had to tip them $5. The service, the quickness, the quality of the food, the freshness... A+

Yelp
The shop is small but cute! It could use a paint job I guess, but when you're dealing with fried food you kinda want a shop that's a little weathered, cause like, if a shop is spotless, it means they're not very busy. There's never really a line here, and when there is, theres never a long wait. The parking situation is kinda weird to be honest, but everyone who comes here is in and out within a few minutes. So how are the donuts? Oh buddy, simple the best glazed donut I've had in a few years. Big, fluffy, not doughy, not over cooked, simply just a mouth melter. I'm not sure who said donuts are empty calories but ignore that: you get a real solid satisfaction from every donut here. Something they advertise that isn't mentioned enough on Yelp or Google is the Giant Donut! You need to place the order one or two days in advance, but you get to choose your icing and toppings. It's really cheap for what it is (just $15.50 as of 2024), and it's just oh so delicious. I got one for my birthday yesterday and I've just about devoured it. It's not as poofy as a regular yeast risen donut, but it's every bit as delicious. Anyway if you're alone and need a snack: come in, get a half dozen glazed, go home, and go nuts.

Yelp
Came here on a recommendation from a friend. Really unassuming looks from the outside hide a DELICIOUS array of goodies on the inside. Here are my favs: Glazed doughnuts Cake doughnuts (melt in your mouth) Apple fritters Croissants Bookmarked in my doughnut shop list.

Yelp
Have been enjoying their donuts for years, today was no different until I found a piece of hair on my half eaten maple donut... ekkk. I was tempted to eat around the hair but I couldn't do it. Come on guys, please cover up, head, beard, arms when making donuts.

Mike A.

Yelp
Best damn donut shop on earth. Nowhere else in the world will you find Fryman, Slick Rick, Killer, and Scream Boy enjoying a warm donut and a refreshing ice cream donut shake on a Saturday night. This place not only has the most epic cast of characters that belong to its congregation but its original leader Bruce is an all time classic Donut master. If you thought Pulp Fiction had a cult following get your a** into the one and only Doughboys of El Segundo. FIGHT BIG DONUT and support your local shop. Lookout for the picture of the helicopter. It's a true gem of our fearless leader.

Andrea T.

Yelp
LOVE this little place. Affordable, donuts are delicious, staff is friendly. 10/10 would recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Best donuts I've ever had, especially the apple fritter, and the brownies are rich and fudge-y! Check them out on your next donut run :)

Step B.

Yelp
Amazing customer service, I definitely would recommend to others the donuts are FIRE!!!100/100

Yelp
4.5 stars upbumped for some fine traditional doughnuts. My wife and I stopped by on our bike ride and we were most impressed. The original glazed was massive and fluffy with the perfect amount of sweetness in the glaze...right on par with Randy's and differentiated just by a bit less chew. The Boston creme covered in powdered sugar was just as delectable with a softly sweet filling far more balanced than most competitors. At just $1 each, the value is immense as well.
google avatar

Chihiro O.

Yelp
Fluffy donuts with reasonable pricing. Service was so nice and friendly. I haven't eaten this kind of fluffy non greasy donuts for a while and I was very happy that I found this place!

Tommy J.

Yelp
I went to this donut shop recently, as I was on the way to Manhattan Beach. I went in and I thought it was a small clean shop. I realized there were some flies on the donuts so I didn't want any. I talk to the guy at the cash register he was a bit rude so the service was lacking and the food wasn't very well. I picked a strawberry and banana smoothie. When I got into the car and took a sip out of the smoothie there were chunks of ice and powder left in the drink, it wasn't fully blended. It was disappointing.
google avatar

Yelp
This family is lovely. They are always so happy to see you and remember everyone's name. Anna can me smile anytime I see her. Now that that's out of the way, have a donut or 2. Everything is extremely fresh and made with love. If your hungry for lunch, the tuna sub will fit the bill and you wont be disappointed I promise. You have the choice of a croissant or a sub roll, either is perfect! I Thank them for taking such good care of us :)
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
I grew up on the peninsula and I've been coming to this donut shop since I was a little kid! Love this place!!
google avatar

Ako M.

Yelp
My sister wanted a crumb donut and we looked up this place and it didn't disappoint! They didnt have many donuts left since we went around 7pm but the donuts we got were fresh and not that sweet! Will come here again.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I've lived in town my entire life. This is hands down the best donut shop!!! Not sure if many people know about the special order donut. You need to order them about a day or two in advance. But it is sure to bring joy to your favorite donut lover. Recently I got one for my nephew, to celebrate his last day of school.
google avatar

Stoopid S.

Yelp
I hadn't had a donut in about 3 years and came here to get some donuts for some family that was in town. HOLY MOLY these donuts are soooooo good. When I was younger I like Chocolate Frosted Glazed and Dough Boy's are awesome. I hated cake donuts as a kid...they were always too dry and had a kind of crust on them. Dough Boy's Cake Donuts are absolutely amazing.....so moist and fresh....always. I think we've tried just about every donut they offer and they were all quality. I was eating donuts a few times a decade and since this summer we go here once a week! Seriously. Bruce is awesome....consistently friendly and welcoming. There are also a couple other people that work there that are very sweet and helpful. We won $30 on a $5 Scratcher from there....Woooooo!!
google avatar

Franklin M.

Yelp
This is my go to place when I am in a rush to get some donuts for our office. The family that owns this place are always friendly and helpful. I also get our group Lottery tickets from this place once in awhile. My coworkers love the Blueberry donuts the sell here.
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
I don't know all the names of the people who work here, but they are super friendly. I come here super often on my neighborhood walks for either a donut or ice cream. There are tables to sit down at, but I think most of the regulars come here for lotto and scratchers. Very safe place with police stopping here sometimes as well. Has been here for as long as I can remember. NOTE: around 9pm is when they're usually working on a FRESH BATCH of donuts. Tastes soooo good!
google avatar

Lena A.

Yelp
Was at Dockweiler Beach and wanted something warm because it was cold. Stop by here and grabbed some delicious coffee! My boys got donuts and the gentleman there gave us a free donut. He was so nice. Too bad I live so far if not I would definitely come here for coffee every morning :)
google avatar

Melissa W.

Yelp
This is our local donut shop and my personal favorite. We come here at least once a week! Definitely recommend the apple fritters and buttermilk donuts
google avatar

Eliza J.

Yelp
Great lil mom and pop donut shop that serves ice cream too. Yum!!! It's where the locals go. That's a good thing. I become a local when traveling in the area :). Thank you Bruce for the yumminess and great service!!! :)))

Yelp
Went in the morning and got a dozen assorted - had the guy working at the time pick them out since we were in a hurry. Think people were mostly pleased with the results, but will have to see if I ever get fresh donuts from the place and rate them based on that. Has an oldschool liquor store vibe down to them selling Lotto tickets. Until then, 3 Stars, but I will say that I haven't tried the custard donut because we didn't end up with any in the box, and the quality of that will be the true test in the end.
google avatar

Sally B.

Yelp
I thought donuts were good here. I didn't think the store felt clean enough. Had a bit of a convenient store feel as well. More focused on selling lottery tickets. All good. Just a different feel.
google avatar

Maritess G.

Yelp
My husband and I are big fans of the french cruller and couldn't be happier to have found a place that sells some really good ones! On a random Sunday we drove around looking for crullers and tried several all on the same day. Of the ones we tried, Dough Boy's had the best! Friend customer service as well! We'll be back!
google avatar

Shelley S.

Yelp
Place is still consistently delicious! Just grabbed three more donuts - old fashioned, glazed, maple bar- and all were great! We regret not getting more but we are grateful to have this local shop
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Best Donuts in El Segundo! I work nearby - Dough Boys is the go-to when a coworker surprises the office with donuts! This shop offers all types of donuts - all the classic flavor of raised, cake, and filled donuts, plus apple fritters, blueberry muffin donuts, and other confections. The owner is super friendly. Once during a late night visit, they were sold out of all the raised donuts (my favorite) - BUT the owner said he was finishing a fresh batch. Several minutes later, he presented us with a piping hot chocolate glazed donut! The donuts always taste fresh, fluffy, and delicious!
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
DOUGH BOY DONUT? YES, DOUGH BOY DONUT! This is the best donut shop in town. Lucky's donuts is terrible and the people working there are extremely rude! I only go to dough boys. Bruce and John always greet me with a warm and friendly attitude! The donuts here are the best!
google avatar

Ry B.

Yelp
My favorite doughnuts in LA, and lotto ticket hot spot! I skip two other doughnut shops to go to Dough Boy's
google avatar

Ulysses M.

Yelp
Every now and then when I roll up to LAX to drop off a friend or relative, I always take them to this donut shop where they serve super tasty donuts. My friend told me about this place a few years back so I eventually tried it. I have been going here since. There's nothing like donuts that have that "fresh out of the oven" taste (especially when you go SUPER early). The service is really friendly and the people are down to earth. The few times I've gone, there was this really chill girl who basically described the donuts very carefully. I swear she was like a donut encylopedia! Oh and don't forget about the sandwiches!! mmMm. Might I also add they also take their time to answer any questions and not rush you like that other donut place down the street that rhymes with Duckies. We'll get to that another day. So when you think donuts, get your head out of the gutter and stop thinking about Krispy Kreme. Get some real donuts over here.
google avatar

Kristen S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite donut shops because it's uncomplicated, like a time capsule. There are no fancy donuts sprinkled with bacon or Captain Crunch. It's just classic donuts and sometimes they run out. The blueberry donut is surprisingly good and I'm not normally a fan of that kind (all about old-fashioneds, pink iced with sprinkles or maple bars). There are little airplanes everywhere, which adds to the charm. You and a friend can walk up the hill to the observation park and watch the planes at LAX take off, while drinking your milk and eating a chocolate old-fashioned. Lotto tickets are sold too, so you can consolidate a lot of your vices here.
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
Favorite donut shop in my area. Love their croissants and vanilla latte ice blend!! Also would recommend the ham and cheese croissant
google avatar

Eileen R.

Yelp
Love this place! I live in the area, and out of all the donut shops in town this is the spot. All of the donuts I've tried are fluffy and delightful without being too sugary or sticky. I also love their croissants, they're large, soft, and you can request that they be toasted and filled with ham, cheese, or both. The service is always friendly and quick. And, if you're feeling lucky, get a lotto ticket on the way out!
google avatar

Jesse F.

Yelp
I stopped by this place to pick up a dozen mixed for work. They looked good. But the two that I got weren't very good... kinda odd and not really very sweet. Gonna have to try the other doughnut shop practically next door a try. And then give this one another try before I can be more confident in my review.
google avatar

Nathan J.

Yelp
Best donuts around town ! It's so chill in there just to hangout while eating such a fluffy donut ! Groovy service !!! Only thing bad is they don't have WiFi
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
This is one of the best donut establishments in El Segundo. They have a good selection if you go early enough. The workers are quick and friendly. I like to order the ham and cheese croissants. They'll heat it up for you before you go. The parking lot is small but we go early so parking is not much of an issue.
google avatar

P M.

Yelp
Have been going here for years as post-beach or pre-planespotting pastime. The donuts stay amazing, the family running the place is beyond friendly, and prices fair of course. Don't change or go away!
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
The best donuts ever!! Service is good , nice place and people are very friendly !!! I love the blueberry cakes and Double chocolate cakes .

Tray T.

Yelp
New Year's Day breakfast. Easy walk from our friends place. This is a great neighborhood donut shop, had my favorite chocolate & peanut donut. Donut holes were good, but the old fashions were just ok.
google avatar

Aitziber M.

Yelp
Nice, fresh, delish, inexpensive, high-quality, friendly staff, family owned. What else do you need?
google avatar

Damien T.

Yelp
Cheap donuts . Pretty good however workers don't really have customer service skills.

Yelp
Funny story. And true. When my girlfriend's uncle proposed marriage to her aunt, he didn't buy her a ring. He bought her a blueberry doughnut from Dough Boy's. He slipped it on her delicate finger. And then took a bite. And then another. And then he Homer Simpson'ed it and polished off the whole thing. He claims it was the tastiest ring he's ever eaten. Scary that he has a frame of reference for that type of thing, but mildly entertaining nonetheless. So after drinks and dinner in El Segundo, we headed over to Dough Boy's so that I could sample the goods. We walked in, and voila! there was a table of policemen. That's a good sign. Since it was my first time there, I opted for a (small) selection of what was on offer. No, unfortunately I didn't go for a dozen... those days are for the most part over (but certainly not forgotten, he ponders as he massages his gut). First up, apple fritter. It was only ok. Not the worst I've had, but definitely not the best. Then I had the infamous blueberry doughnut. It was very good. Would have been better had it been warm, but it was greasy and blueberry-ey and delicious. Should've just stuck with that one. Overall, I have to go 3 stars because Dough Boy's is only okay, but the blueberry doughnut itself gets 4 stars.

Rudy A.

Yelp
Best apple fritter donut ever. I want to live inside one of those donuts. Crispy and pillowy soft.
google avatar

J I.

Yelp
Really good donuts, and for right now, better than higher rated donut shop in downtown El Segundo. The place usually runs out of popular ones especially on weekends.
google avatar

Kimmy R.

Yelp
Definitely the better of the two donut shops on this street. I don't often walk the extra block from my house to go here but I should. For some reason the two shops sell the same flavors but the ones here just taste fresher and less greasy and are cheaper as well. I will say that this strip mall is much seedier than the one with Lucky Donuts a block away. They also sell ice cream but don't bother... it's always frostbitten.
google avatar

Cobra K.

Yelp
Great donut shop with hot ham and cheese croissants. A little less expensive than the other donut shops within a few miles. They have several tables to sit at, tv's and also serve smoothies and ice cream.
google avatar

Johnny W.

Yelp
Better of the two donut shops on this street. One of my favorite places anywhere in LA for a regular glazed donut. These are not as greasy as most other donut options.
google avatar

Daniel R O.

Yelp
There not donuts, there crapnuts. could not hold back. A friend who I was visiting dragged me here saying they have awesome sandwiches. Sorry I dont or rarely do coldcut meat sandwiches( unless I make em myself and use quality brands and cuts). So instead I just get some donut holes. just taste like sugar coating. I already know my fav donut shop and its located in Downey. Also fyi cash only.
google avatar

Kandy G.

Yelp
OMG best donuts!!!! I took a 5 mile drive just to get 2 this place...totally worth da drive....excellent service, "donut lady" extremely nice...!!!!! Opens at 4am n closes at 12AM...for those who crave donuts late at night hahahah they r yummylicious!!! Highly recommended!!! mmmmmmmmm donutssssssssssss
google avatar

Nim N.

Yelp
There are quite a few donut shops in the area, probably because of the amount of police located in El Segundo :P but this shop is one of my favs. My roommate is the one who got me hooked on going since I really stopped eating donuts. But every now and again I get a craving. My favorites at this shop in particular are the Bavarian creme donuts, which are dusted in powdered sugar, and their crumb donuts. My 5 yr old loves what she calls 'baby donuts' the little donut holes, which they sell 8 for $1 Prices are reasonable as well. My roommate says they have good sandwiches, they also have bagels, and their croissants are really good, if you're not feeling something too sweet.
google avatar

S H.

Yelp
Between this place and the one on the corner of Main and Imperial, this is definitely the better doughnut shop! The owner and his family (who often help out behind the counter) are super-nice and the doughnuts are good. Glazed buttermilk is my favorite followed by the apple fritter in a close second. French crullers are good too! My colleagues love when I bring an assortment of these to work -- they vanish instantly!
google avatar

Darren B.

Yelp
What happened to this place? I remember coming here as a child and the donuts being amazing. Was that my 7 year old imagination taking flight, and anything with a pinch of sugar was going to suffice? I was recently eating in El Segundo and my friend and I wanted donuts afterwards. So I told her of this place and I started talking it up. I went on and on about how I always used to come here when I was little, and how it was that great donut shop right around the corner from that other evil donut shop (Luckys). We finally get there and she orders a classic: glazed twist. Pretty straight forward. There's no real way to mess up a glazed twist. I haven't really met a glazed twist in my life that's been terrible. So we get back in my car and she takes a bite. Then she slows down, and I could tell she wasn't enjoying it. I asked her if it wasn't that good, and she says "it's aighhttt." I thought this was just her normal shit talking (she tends to hate on everything I like, or talk of how she can distinguish better food). So I decide to take a bite, and she's correct. It tastes like a star fish (no, I don't know what a star fish tastes like, but I'm assuming this is it). Bland, texturally unappetizing, and worst of all, not sweet. What kind of donut isn't sweet?!?! I felt like the only way I'd eat this is if I were drunk (I'll eat anything when I'm drunk, even a star fish).
