Douglas House Bed & Breakfast

Douglas House is a lovely B&B run by the equally lovely Kate and her sidekick Bart (a most gorgeous pussycat!). Our room was very clean, large, nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed and two cosy chairs. The en-suite was a good size with a great shower and nice toiletries. Kate leaves a fine selection of drinks in the room including tea, coffee, fruit teas, herbal teas and hot chocolate plus caramel wafers. The breakfast Kate provides is top notch using local ingredients and one of the best we have had anywhere. It would be impossible to rate our stay at Douglas House as anything less than 10/10 and we highly recommend.

Spent 3 nights here in Room 1 (Superior king size) and we were highly delighted with everything. The bed was certainly very large and extremely comfortable. The bedroom was a generous size and the bathroom was also very large. The rooms are all very stylish and clean.|Great selection of complimentary teas and coffees. Breakfast had a great selection of quality items to choose from and catered for gluten free without any problems.|Douglas House is centrally located and everything is within walking distance in Castle Douglas. It is also a great base to explore the surrounding areas of south west Scotland .|Car parking is always available.|The host, Kate, is very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for her.|We will return in future and highly recommend this fantastic guest house.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at Douglas House. Kate is a welcoming and helpful hostess in every way. The room was pristine and very comfortable and the bathroom was wonderful! Highly recommend if you are lucky enough to find yourself in this part of Scotland.

Had a fantastic stay here at The Douglas House. I needed quite a long stay and the owner managed to fit me in at late notice in different rooms around her other bookings. I got to stay in three out of the four rooms and all were immaculately clean with very comfy beds, high spec linen, toiletries, towels etc. The rooms were great sizes and just the right temperature with good storage space for your belongings. The host provides a very good breakfast service in the nicely decorated dining lounge. Always a friendly face from Kate whenever I was coming or going, would definitely book here again.

I can't recommend this bed and breakfast highly enough. Absolutely everything is perfect. The bedrooms have ensuite bathroom and both were spacious and spotlessly clean, including comfortable beds, with a good selection of tea and coffee making facilities with chocolate biscuits. The breakfast was the best Scottish breakfast we have ever had with very good quality produce cooked perfectly. |Kate The host and owner is keen to check that you are happy and clearly goes over and above to make sure you are. Thanks Kate we look forward to visiting again in the future.|Castle Douglas has lots of amenities and indoor and outdoor facilities in and close by, so if the weather changed we would still have had lots to do; even though we had fantastic sunshine we would still prefer to stay here rather than the coast for these reasons.

Spent two nights bed and breakfast at Douglas House. A lovely house that is light, airy, spacious, and full of character! Our room on the first floor was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Spacious en-suite shower room. Breakfast was very tasty. We chose the full Scottish breakfast from the menu that offered plenty of choice. Everything was cooked fresh by Kate, our hostess, who made us feel very welcome. Thank you, Kate, for a lovely stay.
