This is my first time visiting Hood River and I have to say, it’s stunning! So many cute shops and Doug’s being one of them. The clothes are cute and the staff were super helpful on all floors. I got myself some new sandals and a cute top! It’s a pretty big shop, with 3 levels. Only complaint I have is overhearing a back employee sounding pretty short tempered and belittling with another employee. Maybe she was having a bad day but I think she should be more mindful of surroundings and level of voice. It’s just a little off putting from the rest of the lovely staff I encountered. But overall a great store!

Really enjoyed visiting this store for the first time today. Great selection of quality clothes, definitely fits the vibe of the town. The clearance sections had a nice variety as well. Will be making the trek here again soon!

I love Doug’s for so many reasons, but today I’ll pick the junior ski rental program. What a gift to the community! We had another fantastic season outfitting my 3rd and 5th graders with cross country and downhill skis and boots. The price is absolutely fantastic and the flexibility of swap outs during the season as feet grow — can’t be beat! Thank you for providing this service! We’re diehard loyal fans.

Doug’s is awesome! I’ve stopped in a few times when I’m in Hood River in the summer chasing wind. I also really like the selection of gear that they offer online too — great to have a Code dealer close by (I’m in WA) for easy/fast shipping. I called in asking questions about getting into DW sup foil and got some great info — really knowledgeable, it’s clear they are out on the water too and have tested a lot of gear.

Great people, amazing selection and bent over backwards to help me find hiking shorts that fit properly. This is the cleanliness and service I appreciate in a retailer but is so hard to find. Will be going back whenever I’m in town again.

Boot fitting, sales, customer service are off the charts! I've been coming to Doug's for 2 years, primarily for ski boot fitting but also to have all my skis tuned. I recently bought a new pair of boots from Dougs and the amount of care and attention I received was phenomenal. They truly want your feet to feel amazing in your boots and will go to great lengths to help you. Over the course of a week I interacted with all the boot fitters, and they were all amazing. I'll never go anywhere else for ski gear needs. Can't recommend highly enough!

Doug’s! If only I had more space in my closet. The buying team at Dougs really knows how to pull at your heart strings and emotions. The assortment of product and apparel for the body and home, or sport is off the charts. I never knew Pacific Outdoor clothing could be so fashionable and functional. I always thought REI old man zip clothing was the only direction. The best part was also the outdoor sporting sections, ski, hike and surf they offer. The looks are super hip, boho, sheik and fun. Cozy materials and smart patterns and prints. Shoes, coats, eyewear, hats, bags and more. I was super impressed and because of them, I have opened my eyes to new brands and styles. See you again this Winter Doug’s team.

If you need to rent skis, snow shoes, snow boards, surf gear, water boards, and even e-bikes, head to Doug's for fair prices and super attentive and helpful service. When friends visit and they want to participate in all this part of the PNW offers, this is where I bring them. Upstairs is the clothing department and I always love to check it out this area to see what's new. The selection is both functional and also attractive, prices better than in Portland.

I had a ski boot fitting at Dougs with Ian. I came in looking for X boot from the reviews and after trying on 3 boots we settled on Y. I have now been out on the mountain 2 days and they fit great and perform like no other boot I have owned! Kudo's to Ian and the staff at Dougs for taking the time to do a fantastic fitting. I was reluctant to buy some $50+ ski socks but I now know what i have been missing and they are worth it!!!!!

I was walking around looking for a bike to rent and came across Doug's and they offer ebikes. The set up was super easy. Walked over to a computer, put my info in, he showed me the 4 Modes ( Econ, Sport, Don't remember the other two ) and off I went. I have a calf strain and really shouldn't be biking but with the ebike it was very easy and no strain on my calf or body. Rode up a road with an 15 degree incline and problem. Place was great with suggestion. Highly recommeny

Wow! I really really really liked this shop! Great for outdoor gear and for the fashions. Customer service was top notch, and I left the whole experience with a smile on my face. I even bought a hat! I was visiting from Portland and heading south of Hood River to do the Fruit Loop. A quick coffee stop down the street turned into wandering the downtown strip and I discovered Doug's. So glad I did. It's a really large store that is packed full of trendy NW outdoorsman clothes that seemed quite reasonably priced. It's definitely not bargain brands, but it seemed to be at a lower price point than what I've found at similar shops in Portland. They have a lot of Banks clothes, which is one of my favorite brands. Brixton, Volcom, Patagonia, and the like. Plenty of accessories like sunglasses, watches, and hats. I really like the vibe of their aesthetic. Downstairs is the equipment area, and while I did a quick loop I didn't pay much attention. I just wasn't in the market for a snowboard, ya know? Seems like some people have beef with their rental operations, but from an apparel perspective, this shop is 5 stars. Love it.

First let me say... I do not frequent outdoor activities but this was the best snow shoe rental I have ever used! (I used their rental shop across the street) Allow me to explain. This shoe fit so well that I felt as if my foot was being swaddled by a large blanket. And if the fit was not enough... the spikes were high quality and powerful. As I would step on to the slippery ground I felt secure and safe. The kind worker was very patient and gave AMAZING advice for sizes. If I could give this 6 stars I would.

I went into Doug's set on a specific ski boot. Ian and Greg sat me down (literally) and we chatted about what I wanted my boot to do and how my old boots felt. Two hours later - Greg had meticulously formed the boots (not the brand I had come in for) to fit perfectly. I can't recommend them enough - their attention to detail, experience and product knowledge are exceptional - and appreciated even more so having them in our little town. Thanks, Doug's!

I used to love coming here and the staff always were helpful. I don't know what happened but post-COVID it's like they are completely disinterested and even annoyed to have you walk in the door. I was looking forward to going and shopping there again but this shop seems like it's just becoming a gear rental place run by the bitchy salesgirls on Pretty Woman.

My family rented 3 sets of skies. Two members were over the age of 60, and one had never skied before. Upon returning the skis they charged us a "tune up fee" on two. They said the skies had major scratches. The staff at Doug's barely looked at them. When we explain how that couldn't have been us because none of us were able to cause that kind of damage skiing, they replied "uh. Well it's in the air." tf Do yourself a favor and go down the street to Second Wind Sports. They even sell parking passes to Mt.Hood.

Cheap rentals. Go here rather than the lodge. Unfortunately they did not have my ski boot size and will have to pay at the resort. But everyone else in the fam got their snowboard gear on the cheap. Personable and willing to assist staff.

Wonderful Staff. 5 star service. Sam is the mf MAN. Very knowledgeable and helpful, to everyone. Beginners to Pro. HIGH quality rental gear. I've rented all over the place. Wish Doug's was everywhere. Definitely helped me choose the right gear to buy from renting and seeing my needs. Love this place.

I am from out of town and looking for a solution for an equipment issue. On two separate occasions stopped into Doug's seeking help. Both times I received excellent service and help resolving the issues.One time in particular the owner stopped what he was doing ,spent over 3 hours repairing equipment I didn't even purchase at his shop but they do represent to perfection . All the staff was kind , curious & patient. John went so far beyond what was needed to make sure my equipment worked properly and safely while in use on the water. I am so very great full for his extra effort in the service he provided. I also noticed how he interacted with all his staff. He did it with kindness, patience, and understanding. Always with a smile .. Thank you so much to John and all his staff at Doug's in hood river.

I wanted to give a shout out to Doug's and their great staff. I live in HR and have consistently received outstanding service from this shop. I am impressed with their buyer, who buys quality, current styles and excellent brands. The staff both upstairs and downstairs go out of their way to provide the best information and service they can. I suspect based on a number of bad reviews that they fall short on occasion, as we all do, however it has been my experience over the past 10 years that this shop cares about me, my experience, and my business. I appreciate that. I also appreciate that I don't need to chase to Portland for high quality gear and clothing. Thank you guys! Keep up the great work.

Felt like I had manageable expectations and wanted to support small and local, but Doug's fell short on nearly every thing. Snobby staff, and over priced. The owner Jon told me that he's been able to charge this much in this "rich area" for years. I'll drive to Evo in Portland with a smile from now on :)

For ANYTHING skiing related, ask for Greg! I purchased some booster straps for my ski boots but was hesitant to try and install them - drilling the rivets out of the boots myself seemed like a recipe for disaster. Greg had them installed as if they came straight from the factory in 15 minutes, and graciously told me it's on the house! He also clued me in to the fact that I could adjust the stiffness of my boots and that I would benefit from some additional arch support. I can only imagine how amazing and life changing a boot fitting from Greg would be when all this was complimentary. I cannot recommend Doug's and Greg highly enough! Don't hesitate to come in for any problem big or small!!!

Don't rent your skis or boards here! So disappointed. Was really excited to be supporting a small local business and made an effort to rent skis before heading up to Mt. Hood Meadows. There was one small little ding on the ski and the guy charged us $45 for a "basic tune." (I'm not a crazy off-piste skier and stuck to trails for the total of 8 runs I did.) So the whole cost ended up being more expensive and less convenient than renting at the mountain. As an out of towner with a husband from White Salmon, I have to say that I've always been so pleased with the service that I've gotten from stores in the Hood River. But I'll be avoiding Doug's from now on.

Idk much about the upstairs and clothing division of this joint, but the downstairs where the skiing majic happens Doug employes some avide product and sport knowledgable personel. I had a good shopping experince in all with a new pair of ski boots this Season(18-19). They tossed me a birthday discount and include the work if need to gets your boots nice and comfy for a full day of playing! Good price, Fair selection of cloths and gear (seasonal) Knowledgeable staff, Clean store, I will shop this place first in the Gorge and work from there. Like to give them a 3 1/2 stars, above averge service with a smile. Point down hill and go fast, turn when something gets in your way. Ski safe and prey for snow

Awesome store! Good vibes, great employees. If your looking for good customer service, great selections, and awesome deals, you can can't beat it. Everyone there is always friendly. The ski shop does carry a large selection, and usually has some good deals. Awesome selection of skate goods too! You could get lost in there! Watch out for Waldo.

Had an awesome experience with the staff at Doug's. They are so helpful and did everything they could to get me out on the water with kiting gear. The gear was awesome - super fresh, lightweight and easy to set up. Loved the Reedin kite they set me up on. Super fun, dynamic and easy to use. Thank you to the team at Doug's for making my experience in Hood River AWESOME!!!

Doug's is phenomenal. Every time I have gone in there with a problem, they have solved it with haste, friendliness, and knowledge. They never hesitated once to help me get the right fit in boots I bought elsewhere, perform surgery on bindings at no cost, or to share their knowledge about gear they knew I did not have the funds to buy at the moment. Couldnt ask for much more! Would highly recommend Doug's to anyone looking for outdoor gear in Hood River.

Excellent customer service! I wish I got their names but went in today to get skis waxed. A nice fella helped me carry my skis in and they were able to squeeze me in despite the busy workload they had. We are able to enjoy the fresh powder with fresh wax today because of their services. Thank you to the guys in the repair shop! Everyone was very helpful and nice around the store. Great merchandise selection. Always fun to be happily greeted by all the dogs there too! Will definitely utilize this shop again.

Pretty great store. Doug's has lots of great surf/swim apparel, sunglasses, shoes, backpacks, hats, watches, etc. The three times I've stopped in this store we've spent at least an hour looking through the densely packed clothing racks. My only complaint is that their prices are a little steep, even if you don't have to pay sales tax. In this economy I have a hard time paying $40 for a blouse.... So I spent my time sifting through the downstairs clearance rack. They had some cute shorts and tops that were all 60% off. So, 4 Stars for a great selection, and 2.5 stars for their prices. I'd say this is the best store for surf apparel in Hood River.

It's Thanksgiving weekend. Generally, I'm not a shopper, as clothing stores are often overwhelming. Especially this time of year. My husband and I came in looking for outdoor gear to try on. The staff were amazingly helpful. Dana in particular. She went out of her way to order a product and was over all helpful with everything we needed. It was an entirely pleasant human experience in this day of 'ordering everything online'. We both left with huge smiles on our faces for such a sweet local connection.

Just went in to get a pair of sunglasses with my husband and service animal, and was told they don't allow dogs. I explained to the girl that I have my service animal paperwork for DHS if there's an issue and tried to continue shopping, but she told me that their store policy still doesn't allow dogs. I told her that in no world does store policy override the law, and she continued to give me attitude, so we just left. I would never give someplace my business that disrespects me and others with "invisible disabilities" by being so bullheaded and uneducated. I will never shop here again, and will tell all my wedding guests to avoid it as well.

Even though I live in the Washugal Camas area I shop here every time I need clothing. Doug's has the best selection of casual and surf/skate clothing for miles and miles around. They also have a bit of dressier stuff too though cool Cali style casual is their forte. Nice staff, great selection, and a nice store to browse. Prices are not cheap but for this type of clothing they never are, as everything is name brand like Volcom, Billibong, Quiksilver, etc Basically a fun store to shop with a nice selection.

Doug's has good vibes all around, from staff energy to product energy. I came in to rent some snowboard boots for a few days. Pretty sure I came right as Peter upstairs was scheduled to head to lunch, but he smiled through it and took care of me despite it being lunch time on an incredibly beautiful sunny day in FEBRUARY. This shop is rad, highly recommend from the top tiered product to discounted gear.

For alpine skis, good selection but poor service. I bias my purchases to local vendors, but don't expect much service at Doug's. I rented some demo skis, but it's odd that their rental shop doesn't open until 9 AM. I liked the demo, so I bought new skis and bindings at peak-season prices. You'd think they'd be highly attentive for a high-margin $1000 sale, but nope. Just mounting bindings is like pleading with them, and they finished a day late. I'll go elsewhere next time.

40% on your birthday....Kama'aina cant be beat. Otherwise a mediocre selection of surf fashion, used gear, and ski rentals

I brought some backcountry skis into Doug's that had been mounted incorrectly by a ski shop in California. Charlie took one look at them and immediately diagnosed the issue and fixed them quickly as I was leaving for a backcountry ski trip the next day. Thank you Charlie for your great service! Another thing that amazed me was the friendly customer service at the front desk. When I walked in a gentleman grabbed my skis and carried them upstairs for me - I was pleasantly surprised by this act of service! Thanks Doug's!

Don't take your skis there for tuning! Told 48 hours turn around for :20 minutes of work. Two days later they still weren't ready!

One of the best athletic clothing stores we've ever stepped into. We spent a lot of $$$$ here, but they have all the good stuff. Decent service too.

I had a great experience at Doug's this morning. The folks working were welcoming and able to help me, even though they had just barely opened when I walked in. The woman helping me was patient and unlocked three different sunglasses cases for me so I could try on shades from Oakley, Smith, Von Zipper. I will definitely be back.

Stopped in here after trying a different shop where we couldn't even catch anyone's eye. At doug's everyone was helpful, always willingly checking for back stock on items, and cheerful and friendly. We were able to rent snowshoes quickly and efficiently and get on to our adventure.
