Douskos Guest House

We stayed at the double room with balcony Arriving at the guest house there was no one there to see us at our room. We called a number that was there and they said someone would come in 2’. It took them 15’ to send someone over. The toilet seat was jammed and moving The a/c was not working well and the days we stayed were cold days so there wasn’t a way to warm up the room. I would not recommend this guest house when you visit the island.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. There are several properties under the same management (you go to another one by the harbour for breakfast), and we felt this one suited us best. It's a convenient location, yet away from the majority of the noise, and the room was spacious and modern, yet in an older building. ||Breakfast, as mentioned, is in a different location, with an amazing view of the harbour, not to be missed. ||I don't really have any criticisms at all, when we had issues or questions, they were addressed, and sorted. This just felt like an all round good option, and we'd definitely stay here again.

This place was quite lovely for a 3 star hotel. The check in service was friendly and helpful|with navigating the island, and we had help with our luggage up the stairs (thank you!). Great location - very close to the port. We had a small balcony and the amenities were good - kettle and mini bar fridge to make a cup of tea in the morning. |The bed was probably what made this place 3 star, but in saying that, for the price, I would recommend this place to stay.

We visited Hydra for two nights/days in September 2024. We stayed at the Douskos Guest House in the “Big” room. The room was very spacious as the name implies, and Angeliki (the hostess for Douskos) was very welcoming and helpful. We never tried the included breakfast, so can’t comment on that. However, there were several issues with our room: |1. Most important—the shower head mount was broken, which meant you have to hold the sprayer the entire time you take a shower. Angeliki did try to have it fixed while we were there, but even with the repair, you still had to hold the sprayer because, when the sprayer was put on the new bracket, the shower spray was directed to the wall and couldn’t be adjusted.|2. We were very close to the harbor and the clock tower…which chimed every half hour starting at 6am and stopping at 10pm…so either you’re up at 6am or you can’t go to sleep before 10pm.|3. There is also a lot of street noise, particularly from the restaurant just below the windows in the room…even with all windows closed and curtains drawn, we could hear the loud music and exuberant guests of the restaurant until very late.|4. The room is on the second floor. There is no elevator, so you will be carrying your luggage up steep, curving stairs to the room

Location was perfect. No climb at all. Staff were so lovely, especially Angeliki who was helpful, funny and friendly. Her recommendations were spot on and were perfect for our visit. The room was great, we even had a balcony! The swimming towels were a great bonus! I will be back!!

Ioanna was a great host who provided great information and was a great host. |The beach house was very clean and had everything we needed. The location was wonderful. The roof top breakfast was outstanding. The views from the roof top was excellent. Great location and excellent staff.

Beautiful room with a balcony and sea view. Ideal location near the harbor. Spacious, simply decorated  with plates and glasses. Very clean. Great place to stay!
