Fantastic garden and picnic area but with limited parking. Check ahead for events and enjoy on sunny days. Walking distance from several bus stops. Overlooking Judges Bay. Consider footware, and several steep slopes down to sea level (Judges Bay). 16 November 2025- Roses in full bloom. Worth a visit. Restrooms on site.

The Dove Myer Robinson Rose Garden is a true hidden gem in the heart of Auckland. It’s peaceful, beautifully maintained, and full of vibrant roses that bloom almost year-round. The scent in spring and summer is incredible — perfect for a quiet stroll, photography, or just sitting under the trees to relax. The view over Judges Bay and the harbour adds a special touch, especially at sunset. There’s plenty of open space for picnics, and it’s only a short walk from Parnell Village and the Parnell Baths. A great spot for nature lovers, couples, and anyone looking for a little calm in the city.

Nice place to visit! Most varieties of roses can be seen here. On November 9th, they celebrate the Parnell Rose Festival in this park. Various kinds of roses are in full bloom, and the place becomes very crowded and full of joyful activities that day.

This the west end of the foreshore heritage walk, a 5km pleasant trail. I started from the middle of the trail, point 13 to the east, then back to the west. It took me 3-4 hours in total. It’s an amazing way to learn Auckland

An absolutely beautiful and amazing place in Auckland CBD, the "Parnell Rose Gardens" are a wonderful place to go to beauty, relaxation, nature, peace, serenity and a break away from the fas paced world around you.

"Stop and Sniff the Roses... 🌹 Then Keep Walking" 🚶‍♂️ Stopped by Dove Myer Robinson Park today also known as the Auckland Rose Garden, but let’s not get boujee about it. 🌹 Plenty of parking, and if the lot’s packed (which is rare unless roses are trending on TikTok), there’s always street parking just a few steps away. The rose section? Small but mighty. Different colours, big blooms, fresh, and actually fragrant not like those fake supermarket roses that smell like plastic sadness. 💐 Sniffed a few, got judged by a bee, moved on. There are a few benches for rose-gazing and deep life thoughts, but not much to see after you’ve done one or two loops. The real bonus? The park connects to Judges Bay with a peaceful walkway you can walk, jog, or cycle your way into a whole different vibe. And if you spot a road on the side? Yep, cars can sneak through too (if you find it). 🚗🛣️ Toilets? Gotta walk down to Judges Bay for that. Bit of a hike just to pee, but hey makes it feel like an adventure. Nice, calm, and perfect if you’re in the mood for sniffing roses and pretending you’re in a peaceful drama series. Just don’t expect a full botanical zoo. "Logan was here… sniffing roses and dodging bees." 🐝🌹

A nice small garden to walk around. The roses were in full bloom when I visited in October. It’s very quiet.

Beautiful park with a good variety of roses. The heady fragrance just lifts your mood. What can’t be solved with a bit of fresh air and beautiful roses?

Yelp
The Dove-Myer Robinson gardens are located near the bottom of Gladstone Road in the prestigious Parnell. The gardens are peaceful and exquisite, with an alluring smell as soon as you set foot through the stone gates. There are rows and rows of roses that are absolutely stunning. With a large variety of colours and scents, there will be a rose suited for everyone's taste. This is a perfect place to come for a walk, or a picnic. Looking into the horizon between native trees, you can see Rangitoto and Hauraki Gulf. This area is absolutely stunning! Due to the large variety of roses, there are a few that flourish in the winter seasons, however if you want to utilise the area when in full bloom, summer periods are a better time of year to enjoy the flowers.

Yelp
Need to set aside some time to sit back and smell the roses? Then I would suggest a visit to Dove- Meyer Robinson Gardens. I love to jog through these gardens regularly, you just cant beat the sweet fresh smell of flowers and prettyful things. A visit here always manages to put a smile on my dial. From the lookout at the base of the park you can find some spectacular scenery of Auckland and its surrounds. If you want to really make a day of your trip to these gardens you could take a quick stroll over to nearby Judges Bay. The bay has now been cut off the water by the road, which has created a saltwater "lake" which is popular for swimming in the summertime, or you could make your way to another popular Parnell attraction, the Parnell Baths. I will leave it up to you!

Yelp
This is a wonderful place to enjoy the Parnell Festival of Roses each year - a carnival of arts, crafts, food and well, roses! It's a lovely large garden of colour, beauty and sweet smelling fumes filling your nostrils. Dove Myer sits on a small hill, where you can overlook the city and some of the harbour. It sort of reminds me of a scene from the film 500 Days of Summer, where Tom tells Summer about the inspiring architecture of the city - you can do that here too! I love walking through and smelling the flowers. It's also a great place to take a picnic if you live centrally. If you aren't the picnic type, it's a short walk to Parnell's illustrious cafes.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place to come if you are interested in plants and flowers! Named after Auckland's longest serving mayor it really is an impressive memorial with over 5000 rose bushes! In terms of the rose varieties, I couldn't tell you how many different colours and scents fill the park, many of the plants have been bred by internationally acclaimed rose breeders! I came here with some food from the La Cigale markets and sat and ate enjoying the wonderful sights and smells. The best time to come and look at the flowers is during the warmer months, between October and April. You can also view Auckland's largest Pohutukawa tree here as well as our oldest Manuka!
