Dove Myer Robinson Park (Parnell Rose Garden)

Walking around here felt really good. Water on one side, open space everywhere, and the city sitting quietly in the background. The port cranes in the distance actually add something instead of ruining the view, very Auckland in a weird way. It’s calm without feeling empty. You can just walk, stop for a bit, sit down and stare at the water, then keep moving. The light on the water looks nice when the weather decides to cooperate. Didn’t feel like one of those destination parks, more like a place you end up enjoying without trying. Easy to imagine coming back here again, just to walk around and clear your head.

Came middle of February. Many roses were still in beautiful bloom. Well maintained. Closer to 4 stars, quite a few had no tags or hard to find tags, which is for a rose lover hard (I mean.. How can we buy a shrub if we don't know it)

The Dove Myer Robinson Rose Garden is a true hidden gem in the heart of Auckland. It’s peaceful, beautifully maintained, and full of vibrant roses that bloom almost year-round. The scent in spring and summer is incredible — perfect for a quiet stroll, photography, or just sitting under the trees to relax. The view over Judges Bay and the harbour adds a special touch, especially at sunset. There’s plenty of open space for picnics, and it’s only a short walk from Parnell Village and the Parnell Baths. A great spot for nature lovers, couples, and anyone looking for a little calm in the city.

Nice place to visit! Most varieties of roses can be seen here. On November 9th, they celebrate the Parnell Rose Festival in this park. Various kinds of roses are in full bloom, and the place becomes very crowded and full of joyful activities that day.

I had a wonderful visit to Parnell Rose Garden with a close friend from Singapore. The garden is absolutely beautiful — the roses in full bloom were stunning, and walking along the paths felt so peaceful. We spent time taking photos, enjoying the colours, and just relaxing together aw. It’s definitely a perfect spot to share with friends and make memories.

Such a good place to visit nearby if you staying in CBD,nice cool breeze and beautiful flowers free parking etc

This the west end of the foreshore heritage walk, a 5km pleasant trail. I started from the middle of the trail, point 13 to the east, then back to the west. It took me 3-4 hours in total. It’s an amazing way to learn Auckland

Missed seeing lots of the roses in bloom as still a little early. Lots of aphids on the buds so they may be a little scratchy. Very difficult to keep them at bay I'm sure. Lovely flowers and special area with a fountain. Good views. I enjoyed it

The Dove-Myer Robinson gardens are located near the bottom of Gladstone Road in the prestigious Parnell. The gardens are peaceful and exquisite, with an alluring smell as soon as you set foot through the stone gates. There are rows and rows of roses that are absolutely stunning. With a large variety of colours and scents, there will be a rose suited for everyone's taste. This is a perfect place to come for a walk, or a picnic. Looking into the horizon between native trees, you can see Rangitoto and Hauraki Gulf. This area is absolutely stunning! Due to the large variety of roses, there are a few that flourish in the winter seasons, however if you want to utilise the area when in full bloom, summer periods are a better time of year to enjoy the flowers.

Need to set aside some time to sit back and smell the roses? Then I would suggest a visit to Dove- Meyer Robinson Gardens. I love to jog through these gardens regularly, you just cant beat the sweet fresh smell of flowers and prettyful things. A visit here always manages to put a smile on my dial. From the lookout at the base of the park you can find some spectacular scenery of Auckland and its surrounds. If you want to really make a day of your trip to these gardens you could take a quick stroll over to nearby Judges Bay. The bay has now been cut off the water by the road, which has created a saltwater "lake" which is popular for swimming in the summertime, or you could make your way to another popular Parnell attraction, the Parnell Baths. I will leave it up to you!

This is a wonderful place to enjoy the Parnell Festival of Roses each year - a carnival of arts, crafts, food and well, roses! It's a lovely large garden of colour, beauty and sweet smelling fumes filling your nostrils. Dove Myer sits on a small hill, where you can overlook the city and some of the harbour. It sort of reminds me of a scene from the film 500 Days of Summer, where Tom tells Summer about the inspiring architecture of the city - you can do that here too! I love walking through and smelling the flowers. It's also a great place to take a picnic if you live centrally. If you aren't the picnic type, it's a short walk to Parnell's illustrious cafes.

This is a wonderful place to come if you are interested in plants and flowers! Named after Auckland's longest serving mayor it really is an impressive memorial with over 5000 rose bushes! In terms of the rose varieties, I couldn't tell you how many different colours and scents fill the park, many of the plants have been bred by internationally acclaimed rose breeders! I came here with some food from the La Cigale markets and sat and ate enjoying the wonderful sights and smells. The best time to come and look at the flowers is during the warmer months, between October and April. You can also view Auckland's largest Pohutukawa tree here as well as our oldest Manuka!
