My friend and I came to Downbeat Music Center for guitar and drum lessons, as they seemed to have the best prices around. I definitely do not regret it. Josh and John (I’m not sure who is who-- I’m sorry.) are incredible instructors who manage to fit a lot of information into relatively short 30 minute lessons all while giving us time to learn at our own pace. The owner, Andy, is accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. We missed a month of paid lessons due to scheduling issues on our part and he gave us a discount on the next month’s :). He’s great to talk to before and after lessons and clearly knows a lot about what he’s selling. The store itself is small, or at least it feels small with all the instruments, but not overcrowded. It’s very cozy. The walls are covered in instruments or equipment for them, and there are two rooms full of guitars. Ask Andy about them, he could tell you more about them than you thought was possible. There are a few rooms for private lessons, all of which have enough space for you to play, and a bathroom. The atmosphere is great, casual and non-judgemental with great staff. We’ll be purchasing an amp from y’all soon :). See you next week!

Great music store in Pooler. We wanted to stay all day listening to the amazing artists that popped in and out to try and buy instruments. Andy took the time to give my 11yr old an excellent guitar stringing lesson. You'll find genuine music lovers and good humans here.

Andy has been my go to guy for any guitar and amp work I've needed over the past several years. Great guy who runs a stand up business and is very reasonably priced. Can't recommend Downbeat enough

I stopped in to Downbeat Music Center while hunting for an overdrive pedal. They had good selection of pedals, amps, and guitars. I'm still pretty new at guitar and nervous about trying out instruments and equipment in shops because it can feel like the employees are judging me while I try to play. The owner, Andy, was in the shop and made me feel very comfortable and has a great way of explaining things and will demo the instruments and equipment to let me know what it could sound like (if I didn't suck). I highly recommend checking these guys out.

Andy is a very knowledgable dude. He also has a very cool selection of gear for sale. Bought a wonderful P bass here. There's a few great music merchants in the area, and Downbeat certainly is one of them.

Went in with a friend to look and buy some guitar strings. Definitely my favorite music store in the area now! Very high quality instruments, amps and pedals. The owner Andy was very nice and extremely knowledgeable. 10/10 would recommend for any music needs.

Went by today to get new strings and tuning for my mandolin. I was prepared to leave the instrument and come back another day, but since I had driven 45 minutes to the store Andy went ahead and completed the service on the spot to save me another trip. As I’ve never played an instrument my life, Andy went out of his way to explain a few things to me. Small shop with personalized customer service. Happy to know I could take lessons there if needed.

Andy's shop has a nice selection of equipment and supplies for players of guitar, bass, or drums. You can buy, sell, trade equipment, Andy specializes in set-up of Gibson and Fender guitars, repairs of most types of electric guitars, or even special order you something he might not have on hand. A friend turned me on to Downbeat Music Center earlier this year and now it's my new Go-To for gear and repairs.

This is the best guitar shop that I have been too! The owner, Andrew, is usually behind the counter. He is super friendly, super knowledgeable, and super passionate about guitars! He paid attention to what my daughter needed and explained everything in detail, providing suggestions for her. He picked up her guitar and played some superb fast finger work! As testimony to his passion, before we left, he was excited to show us an 80s Les Paul Deluxe that he just bought for himself. It was sharp! It was less of a shopping experience and more just "hanging out" with Andrew. This is called a music center, but they are a guitar shop. I didn't see any other instruments inside. They are a cozy shop located on Hwy80 on the "old" side of Pooler. Downbeat Music Center is an orange amp dealer. Andrew is really excited about them, and proud to be be a dealer. They have instructors that offer guitar lessons. He said he has honed into a set of high quality instructors. We came in for a new set of strings on my daughter's acoustic guitar. Andrew strung them, cleaned the guitar and straightened the neck for us...all while we waited. I am not a guitar person so this level of service was perfect to help keep my daughter's guitar in tip-top shape. The work-while-you-wait strategy is dangerous as we walked out with a new (used) electric guitar. My daughter just fell in love with it! They have a good selection of both new and used guitars. The main room you enter is filled with electric guitars. The back room is filled with their acoustic guitars. I'd highly recommend this place if you are looking for a a guitar shop. They provide friendly, expert service. This isn't just a job, they are serving you because of their passion for guitars.
