Surprised how decent the hotel is. It was clean, comfortable, and is the sister hotel to Firebrand across the street where you can leave luggage for day if skiing as well as use their shuttle. Excellent location especially if arriving by train, near to many restaurants. Recommend getting a room in the top floor (two queen beds) for view of the mountain. It's not the Ritz but $70 you could do far worse.

Google
Courteous staff, clean room, GREAT location, I'm enjoying the soak sized bathtub and the fact that the water stays warm for a long time. The beds are comfortable. The hotel will be beginning a renovation in the near future. It's dated and there are things that need work. It's not luxurious but it's adequate. I would prefer a dresser and a small table with 2 chairs for eating. There's a decent amount of space that could be used more efficiently.

This was a unique, neat place that was clean and comfortable. There is a hot tub there, which our kids enjoyed. There is no breakfast/coffee bar like there usually is (supposedly) due to the Covid crisis, but . . . not a huge deal. The guy at the front desk is super nice and gave me, like, six towels when I asked for two. It'd probably be a really neat place to stay in the winter for the nearby ski resort. Our goal was to be near the Amtrak station, which was handy for us.

Great location in downtown Whitefish. Stayed here for new years and a ski trip and all went well. Prices were steep for how simple the rooms are, but that was because of the date im sure. Hot water, clean towels, and a comfortable bed. The heater/ac unit was loud and right by the bed.. so be wary if you are a light sleeper. Staff was great.

Google
Pros-Cheap place to stay close to whitefish ski area and down town. Great view of the mountain. Basic bagel bar breakfast in the morning. Super basic room for cheap. Discounted lift tickets are available for purchase at desk. Cons- shower drain and sink drain were clogged. It Looked like rooms were just thrown together with mismatched Furniture. Very few outlets for charging your phone. Not a lot of parking.

Perfect location. Great staff but needs alot of renovation. I did hear they just bought it so I know they need time to upgrade. The beds were comfy and the baths were great. The price was cool and I wasn't there to hang in my room so not disappointed at all.

I hate to leave a bad review for any certain place, unless I feel it's necessary. I feel that it is, in this case. And this is an honest and true review. I am not just badmouthing them. My friends found hairs inside their bedding, so they changed rooms, which they also found hair in. So they were given the suite, which had clean bedding, but had dirty silverware and dishes and glasses in the cabinets. Gross. Their hairdryer was also broken. So, I checked the bedding in my room and found two hairs on my sheets. But hair doesn't bother me, unless it's in my food. So, I decided to leave it be. The room smelled like air freshener, but it wasn't too unpleasant. At least it didn't smell bad like my friend's room, which is why I decided to leave it alone. The thing that bothers me most, is that the front desk clerk was very rude to my friends when they were dissatisfied with the cleanliness of their room. If I pay $80 for a room, it better be nice. At least clean. And if it's not clean, the front desk clerk should be gracious and kind in resolving the problem, not rude and offended that you were unsatisfied with the accommodations. Its not our fault that the rooms kept having hairs in them, or that they didn't clean it properly. It's their fault. But the clerk was treating us like it was our fault. The clerk said they should have "lint rolled" the sheets and was surprised that there was hair on there. LINT ROLLED the sheets?! Are you kidding me?! You wouldn't have to lint roll the sheets if you put fresh sheets on the bed! Right? I'm kind of having a hard time wrapping my mind around that comment. This was a birthday event for both of us, and I'm less than happy about the rooms and what we had to go through. Anyway, the only good thing about staying there was the location. We were able to walk to everything downtown. And there was a micro-sized continental breakfast with tiny bagels and cream cheese, danishes, juice and coffee. But it was better than nothing. Overall, I probably wouldn't stay there again. It's sad that a town as upscale as Whitefish, has such bad motels. I'm surprised. We'll probably stay at a motel farther from the downtown and just take a shuttle.

We stayed the night before joining a bicycle tour of Glacier National Park because it was the only thing available. Our room was clean, but that is the only nice thing I can say. The building is very run down and the rooms are in need of repair and updating.

Yelp
This place feels like a prison or I might be murdered in the middle of the night. Absolutely zero pictures on the wall or even a desk. There is an exposed pipe is going through the room and the mini fridge is literally right next to the bathroom sink blocking the hair dryer. Absolutely not worth the $200/night price tag. I would give it a $30 price tag and call it a hostel. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else or bring a tent to Whitefish.

Yelp
Horrible. For $300 I expected a fancy nice place. You're basically paying for location but out of the entire cute little town this is the only place that looks sketch. I had to check in and out at the fancy place across the street and then had to go back into an alley to get into my room. My room was an alley. Bathroom was just a shower and toilet (the sink was outside by front door and next to a mini fridge). When I slept I kept feeling something crawling on me and found a spider. The worst. Stay in West Glacier, 16 miles away, closer to park and half the price with much better rooms.

Yelp
Remember, stars = value... if I was paying 3-400 a night this would be a 3 but it's 100 a night so for what it is, it's 5 stars! What a great little find! This place is right in the middle of where you want to be. Walking distance to everything. Clean Clean Clean! I usually stay at more pricey places but everything was booked when I made reservations last week. The decor is pretty simple and less is more here, lol, but the most important thing for me is clean and they nailed it, housekeeping is outstanding. Don't let the decor detour ya this is a great bang for buck place, now I have extra money for cocktails and fun

Yelp
This was a last minute booking for me. I was looking for a cheap hotel room and I found it. The front desk clerks were extremely friendly and helpful. By the sounds of it they had a long steady stream of check ins. The lobby was very dated but welcoming. I was lucky and got a 1st floor room. The room reminded of my childhood room in the basement. The only window in the room was in the bathroom and filled with an air conditioner. The conditioner worked well and muffled some of the alley noise. The room was very clean and the bed was alright. No Hilton bed here. It got the job done. It did lack outlets for my CPAP but even some of the spendy hotels lack those. The highlight of this place is that it is right downtown. You walk to dining, shops and the Amtrak depot. Overall not a bad stay. Probably about a 3.5. Like I said the room rate was reasonable.

Yelp
This place is a f*ing joke! The owners should be ashamed of themselves. First of all, charging $220 a night for this shithole is criminal. We got into the room. No pictures on the walls, exposed plumbing for fire sprinklers, and two lamps with no lampshades. Wtf?? The girl at the desk was nice. She totally understood our displeasure, but of course couldn't do anything about it. Stay away from this place. The girl says the new owners are going to shut it down soon for a remodel. In the meantime, if you need to stay here, be prepared to bend over and take it! F this place!

Yelp
The property needs maintenance. The property definitely needs to be renovated. Location is about the only positive statement I can make for the property. You can walk to nearby restaurants, shops, and drinking establishments. Upon arrival, we discovered loose plumbing sink fixtures with black mold growing underneath the fixtures ......DISGUSTING! The AC wall unit was very noisy, and because of this we decided to open our bedroom windows. Unfortunately, we were awoken ~ 03:00 AM, 03:10 AM, 03:25 AM, 03:30 AM by logging trucks using their noisy Jake brakes driving by the property. The place cost $243.09 (with various taxes)! A disgusting price to pay for a disgusting place.

Yelp
This place is in need of an upgrade. Our room wasn't finished. The phone didn't work and there isn't enough lights in the bathroom. There was a bug in the bathroom. The walls are paper thin. The jacuzzi smelled and needed water. Not sure if the sheets were clean and they need more trash cans.

David L.

Yelp
Stayed here a couple of times. Convenient location. Worn, dated rooms, but clean. Unfortunately, my last stay there a bunch of drunks came in at 1:30 AM, and raised hell until 2:30 AM. I called the front desk, but no one was there. I ended up having to call the owner a couple of times, who didn't seem effectual, though he seemed to get his act together when I threatened to call 911. The next morning I asked for a discount for the terrible night, and the girl at the front desk obviously had not received training in customer service. She was not apologetic and was unconcerned about a lack of a night's sleep for many of the Inn's sober customers, saying, "Well, they probably just came in after the bars closed." From now on I'll look at other options.

Yelp
Clean, nice beds. Basic accommodations. Centrally located in downtown Whitefish. I'd give it three stars, but we were kept up till 4 am by a couple rooms of partying kids.

Yelp
I'm writing this for others not to make the mistake that my wife and I did by spending part of our vacation in the Glacier Park area at the Downtowner Inn. Please check into hotels/motels in the nearby larger town of Kalispell, you will undoubtably get a better value and I am sure a better experience. Kalispell is the same distance to the Glacier entrance as Whitefish. Drive over to Whitefish if you want to visit the shops, etc in the old town district. This was a really bad experience for 3 nights and a total charge [room only] of $528. You are given 7 days in advance to cancel for free. I asked the clerk upon arrival "if we are not satisfied with the room do we forfeit the entire billing amount?" and the clerk said "yes". The desk clerks were not helpful at all and were unimformed related to local services, tours of Glacier, etc. The room was clean but in need of much repair, plumbing, furniture, carpeting, heating/air conditioning, all were worn out. The beds were the worst, roll to the center and flat/thin/flimsy mattresses. Breakfast was bagels, donuts and coffee. The first night it was hot [mid June] the wall air conditioner would not work. I went to the front desk clerk and asked to have maintenance take a look at it, she said I'll have to call the maintenance man and ask him to come in to town. Never the less, we waited till 10:00 he never showed up. The next day we left early for a Glacier tour and returned about 5:00 pm to find a portable air conditioner in the middle of the room that looked like the Star Wars robot R2D2 with a dryer hose attached to an open window screen. R2D2 sounded like a 727 taking off when it's compressor kicked in. Our review "do not stay at the Downtowner Inn, Whitefish, Montana

Cindy S.

Yelp
Nice location, easy walk to shops and restaurants. Room was windowless and dingy though, certainly you're paying for location.

Kate J.

Yelp
While the location was great, this was our most expensive stay during our recent visit to Montana. It was also the most disappointing. While the location is great and very central / walkable to downtown Whitefish, the room itself was stuffy and musty. The beds were very uncomfortable and the walls are thin enough that we heard all the drunk folks clomping up the stairs when the bars closed. Despite ending a 50 mile hike that day, neither I nor my partner slept well. Just overall disappointing for the price.

Yelp
My sisters and I stayed at this quaint little inn for a weekend. We were able to park our car and walk to all the shops, bars and restaurants. The rooms were basic but clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us great recommendations on what to do and perfect directions to glacier national park. We were very pleased with our stay and a very popular place to be. Being right downtown whitefish was great!!

Philip C.

Yelp
For the value, it's ok. The front desk was not the best. They were not friendly or particularly helpful. The rooms are a little funky (odd ledge step-down into the bathroom, pipes running across the ceiling, odd layout of the room and bathroom) and noisy, but were clean and comfortable. The location is also very convenient.

Michael C.

Yelp
This hotel is located right in the heart of Whitefish . It was reasonably priced as compared to many and like I said the location is awesome! Limited off the street parking can be an issue. The staff range from indifferent to friendly. It's a shame that some people just don't get that it didn't take much to be nice! The room was spartan and decor dated but are you really worded about that up here when the surroundings are so beautiful? Don't expect The Ritz. I did not use the jacuzzi , it looked a little sketch! And fair warning the building is 3 stories and I did not see an elevator nor was I told about one. So travel light! I do recommend this for folks who are flexible in accommodation for a great location , but if your a princess....stay away!

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Awesome location and clean but otherwise so so. The walls are so thin. Every night I was woke up to people traffic train or trash pick up at 5 am. Staff was nice and friendly. Hot tub was broke. Some cable guy was in our room twice... Annoying. Every morning I woke with neck pain. The pillows or bed or both suck. So between thin walls uncomfortable bed it wasn't the best stay but like I said this is an awesome location. You can walk everywhere in whitefish

Yelp
So I was searching foe a hotel close to the train station as I had an early departure. Went in and asked to see a room, the girl at the front was quite put out by this request.....anyway, looked at the room, it was dark and not very clean looking. When I took the key back, and told her I was going to look around, she slammed the key down and said "thats fine". Went down the road and got a great, clean room for the same price!
