Dr. P. Phillips Community Park

Google
Fun playground with a variety of activities such as rock climbing wall, spiderweb, balance beams, and slides and swings. Two accessible swings and two baby swings were noted. Splash pad is on a separate area which I thought was smart, so the playground didn't get all wet. Playground has a beautiful view of a lake. Sheltered picnic tables and two sand volleyball courts are also on site. Decent amount of parking.

Google
We went here for a Ru Pauls drag show and this place wasn't disappointed at all. From the parking spaces available to the ecent itself. Very well organization and staff were all over iver to assist with directions. They have a pub towards rhe end with most premium drinks. Theater itself was very clean.

Google
Really nice park for the family. Plenty of parking and picnic 🧺 tables. Water 💦 area for kids to enjoy themselves. Give this Park 🏞️ a 10.

Google
This is really a great playground. It’s actually one long series of interconnected areas that go from small to large kids, with the initial entry also being wheel chair accessible. There are a number of unique climbing areas I haven’t seen before I sliding a cool twisting spiderweb. Restrooms are on site as well. A great stop with kids is you’re in the area

Google
Very nice and clean park with options for everyone whether your looking for a playground, plashpad, walking trail or a dog park for your pooch. With great views.

Google
Good place for your children. In addition to the playground, there are volleyball and football grounds. Lots of space for walking. There is a covered area with tables and benches for children's parties - birthdays, etc. There is drinking water, a toilet. Lots of space for parking cars and bicycles. Highly recommended!

Google
This is a very nice park. There are a lot of picnic areas, many benches, large playground area, sand volleyball courts, nice restrooms, and a nice view of the lake. I went here for the trail which was very nice. It’s about a mile through trees. Access is via the paved trail parallel to the road unless you can find the hidden secret access behind the volleyball courts. Most of the trail is sand. Tough for MTB unless wide tires or the shoulder on about 1/2 trail. Great place for a family outing.

Google
Visited Orlando the day and searched on Google Maps for Splash Pads near me. This one kept popping up. Super cute splash pad area. Perfect for all ages. I didn't get as many photos of the area. Saw next to it a huge play ground area as well. A trail to walk along the lake and a pretty view of Orlando. Update! Came back to the park but this time for the playground to get my sons energy out before the road trip! Lovely playground with lots of options! Pretty view of the lake and big open grass field if you have a soccer ball to kick around.

Yelp
I needed a change from my daily celebration dog park and decided to come explore this park. It is really beautiful and well maintained. The dog park is also very nice!

Yelp
While staying in the area, we wanted to find a park that was quiet and away from touristic areas. We found this part that is hidden behind a private and new developed community and is next to a school. The park is pretty big with a big playground lots of picnic tables and a large splash pad area for kids. Even though it was a holiday it was not packed and there was plenty of parking. Lots of shade and big bathrooms.

Yelp
I adore this local community part. It's newer and everything is still in great condition. I do wish there was a little shade for the baby swings in the playground area because everything else has a bit of shade it seems. The splash pad recently reopened and it's a large area with plenty of room for lots of kiddos to play. My little one is little and still only crawling so I was able to find him a little splash area away from the bigger kids which I really liked.

Yelp
This is definitely one of my favorite parks to take my toddler. First off, it's always clean and pretty shaded, plus it's completely fenced in. Second off, there is so much for him to do to keep him entertained and burning off energy. The structures are fun and challenging enough for all levels. There are plenty of swings. Everything is very well-kept up and safe. I also love that right next to the playground is the splash pad. It's completely free to get in, too! My son was easily entertained for over an hour. It's a pretty big splash pad with lots of interactive water features.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a decent enough park with plenty to do. It has a large parking area and again, has a lot to offer. If you are in the area, I would definitely recommend this particular park.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Very clean, well kept. * Two sides to the dog park (one for 30 pounds or heavier and one for 30 pounds and lighter). * Really appreciate how active this park is. * Splash pad is well kept. * Dogs are leashed and basketball courts are well-used but well-maintained. * Soccer fields and baseballs fields are used often. * Hours are 8-6 I think. 10/10

Yelp
Such a cool place! There is a nice, shaded playground for the kiddos as well as a splash pad. Half the splash pad wasn't working when we visited, but there was still plenty of room on the side that was working. Our kids loved it. There's also a dog park here (with sides for small and large dogs) and a nature trail. If I'm not mistaken, I think it said the loop was like six miles of trail! Perfect for biking and strollers as it seemed to be paved all the way around. We only walked part of it though, so I'm not certain. Definitely worth a visit!!

Yelp
Agreed with the last comment! Site supervisor didn't had the best childhood experience / that's sad.
google avatar

Avni A.

Yelp
This park is very well designed! We took our little one for the first time and she really enjoyed! The playground has a nice shade cover over it and not only does it have slides for infants and older kids, it also has swings, monkey bars, and there are little rock climbing areas to name a few. On the weekend, it can get busy in the afternoon. There are also some nice splash pads. You can't bring food or water in this area. Also, the water is recirculated so make sure your little ones don't drink it! In addition, there are some good walking trails and your also come across a dog park which is caged in. There is a separate cage for the big dogs and separate cage for small dogs. Lastly, there are basketball and volleyball courts. I think the park overall is kept clean and there's plenty of benches and seating if you need to take a break.

Tony G.

Yelp
Doug Griffith, one of the park supervisors is incredibly rude. Not allowing kids to play on his precious grass is ludicrous. Kids should be celebrated for healthy habits and not penalized. Incredibly disappointed.

Ivan M.

Yelp
Doug broke the hearts of young men trying to succeed in life. He was mean, rude and not helpful.

Yelp
I expected Dr. P. Phillips Community Park to be beautiful but it shows that it opened at the end of 2007. The dog park and walking path is nice enough but the play equipment was run down and dirty. It looked like it has not been cleaned in a very long time. They offer pavilions, bathrooms and grills. At least one of the grills was severely damaged and the others looked aged. The splash park was closed but when it is open they only charge one dollar a person. It looked unkept and the lounge chairs were filthy. Filthy enough that they should be completely covered if you plan to use them.
google avatar

Aaron A.

Yelp
What a great location for the dog park. I love brining the boys here, while it is smaller than some other parks we've been to, its still gives ample room for the smaller dogs to run around and there is a TON of shade! There are benches and tables for us to sit at and even a kiddie pool for the dogs to jump into. Great hidden gem in the area if you are looking for a place for the furry friends to run around.
google avatar

Soraya K.

Yelp
Beautiful park with plenty of parking spaces, nice view of the lake from the playground. Playground is a bit small though and gets cramped on the weekends.
google avatar

Styarria G.

Yelp
I love this park and their splash pad. It's always very clean, even the bathrooms are clean considering it's a park, and the grounds are well kept. There is a large playground, part of which is for smaller children and part geared towards bigger kids. There is a small dog park, several pavilions available to rent, and volleyball, softball, and soccer fields. There is a walking trail around the park, and a nature trail through a wooded area. The trails are not long, but nice for a leisurely stroll. There are many grassy areas to lay a blanket for a picnic or relaxation. The splash pad is open year round, depending on weather. Except during the summer months, when school is out, there are small numbers of people at the splash pad on any given weekday and it's free (when admission is charged, it's only $1 per person-check website for full details). I've found summer and weekends to be crowded, but still a lot of fun. Orlando has a lot of nice parks and this is definitely one of the best.
google avatar

Kalvin K.

Yelp
Very nice dog park with plenty of patrons when we went. The area is nicely fenced in with a water fountain for both small and big dog areas. There are benches with umbrellas for dog owners to sit and watch if they don't want to be out in the sun. Additionally, there are basketball courts, pavilions, and a water park for other patrons. Definitely a good place to spend a nice day at.

Yelp
2017 Yelp 100 Review Challenge 58/100 What a super cute park! I went for a birthday party this weekend. It was a little crowded but it's really big with lots of activities for kids. They have a playground, splashpad, volleyball court, basketball court, pavilions for rent and a beautiful view of the Orlando eye! My son had a ball climbing on everything and running around. I really liked that there was a lot of grass for maybe a picnic. We set up some lawn games and the kids played those as well. I also liked that the ground was rubber. It helped me feel better about my son climbing so much. The ground was really soft and bouncy. This park is great for a party or just an afternoon out with your family. The pavilions are reasonably priced as well. I would like to return in the future!
google avatar

Brunna C.

Yelp
It's a nice enough park, with lots of green space and things to do. However, it does seem that the soccer fields are always closed, so we have to play on the grass off to the side when we go. I've seen basketball courts and playgrounds there, but mostly go to use the soccer fields
google avatar

Jenna M.

Yelp
Awesome park for little kids. My 7 year old son and 3 year old daughter love this park. It's on the lake so the breeze from the water makes it not as hot. There's also ample shade. There's sand, trails, splash pad and slides.

Walter F.

Yelp
Large park with lots of grass but the entire playground and swings are fenced off and closed.

Yelp
It's the best kept secret in west Orange, which makes it one of the best places in this part of town to hang out with friends, kids and dogs. I originally sought out this park for my two dogs. I used to take them to the West Orange dog park and others like it, but Dr. P's is the only dog park I know that has grass. Yes, none of that annoying mulch stuff that sticks into your dogs paws or in your shoes! They can be painful. It's equipped with all the usual necessities like water and poopy bags and generally nice friendly pets and their owners... There's a kiddy splash area. Seems like fun, if I were a little kid again or got the nerve to jump in there with all the kiddies. I wish there was a jogging route or track, but the park is a decent size with 2 large fields and a decent walk around path. Hate to share this secret garden/park but look it up and check it out!

Yelp
I love this dog park for so many reasons, not the least of which is that it is close to my home. Accordingly, I may be biased. That said, my dog goes into paroxysms of ecstatic anticipation each time we drive anywhere near the park, so don't take my word for it. Take his! The dog park is located in the far corner of the Dr. P. Phillips Community Park, beyond the parking lot and basketball court. Nestled among the trees and usually benefiting from the breeze off the lake, the park can be surprisingly cool on a hot day and unfortunately cold on a cool day. In both instances, my dog is very happy there. I am only happy on the hot days! The dog park is divided into two sections, a large area for the larger dogs and a smaller area for dogs that are under 30 pounds. We stay in the small dog area because we have seen a few instances of large dogs getting a bit too aggressive with the smaller dogs. Indeed, for a time we tried to hang out in the large dog area but the owner of a doberman cautioned us that his dog would think that our dog was a plush toy and it could get ugly if we stayed. Ummm . . . . lesson learned! At peak times on the weekend, I've seen up to 40 dogs on the big dog side of the park and up to 30 dogs on the small dog side. Still there is plenty of room. There is also a wonderful community of dog lovers developing in the park. That makes the park even more pleasant for the humans who accompany their canine friends. The park provides plastic bags so that owners can clean up their respective dog's waste and most owners are good about doing so. Unfortunately, it only takes one lazy owner to start creating a mine field so watch your step. . . . The park has been closed for the past couple of weeks due to re-sodding but it will reopen on Tuesday, March 23. You should visit if you have a dog and you are in the area. It is well worth the time and your dog will love it!

Yelp
We brought our 9 month-old son to the water park here and he loved it. Great splash ares for kids my son's age to 12+ Oh, who am I kidding? I'm glad my son was still crawling becasue that gave me an excuse to pick him up and and go do all the watery fun stuff. I left completely soaked and as happy as he!
google avatar

Cora S.

Yelp
The area is nice but my main problem is the dog park. The side for large dogs has ample room but the smaller dogs side is a bit small. There's a lot of dirt patches with wholes so your dog will get dirty. At first I did enjoy coming here but this past weekend there was an incident between two dog owners that turned into a physical fight due to one of the dogs continuously humping the other dog. After this I was a bit taken back for coming here again. Also not all the owners correct or pay attention to what their dogs are doing which can cause them to play aggressively and show unwanted behavior towards your dog. Be careful coming here and pay special attention to your dog.

Yelp
Just visited the park today and overall was impressed. The placement of the park is gorgeous, right along Big Sand Lake. I thought my GPS was leading me astray because the park is past the school (you can barely see the sign until you're there) then you wind back along a long drive to get to the park. The splash pad has 2 sessions: 10am-2pm and 3pm-7pm. Since I have a preschooler I chose the early session to avoid the big kids. We got there right at 10am and entrance on this weekday was FREE! They charge $1 per person on weekends and once summer hits they'll charge daily. I like that the splash pad has two sides, one with jets of water that squirt out of the ground only and a side with jets, water cannons and misters. There are some tables and benches but they fill up quickly. There is limited shade along the edges under the shade sails. The playground was a disappointment. The entire play area is baking in the sun and the equipment was HOT! And this was at 11am in May. Imagine mid-afternoon in the summer! It's too bad they don't have some big shade sails over the equipment. The equipment also seems to be more about looks than function, my 3yo old couldn't begin to play on the big kid section and the little kid section bored him quickly. There are only 4 swings (2 toddler, 2 regular) which doesn't seem sufficient for this size of park. The park also offers sand volleyball courts, pavilion rentals, baseball, soccer, fitness trail and a dog park. I'm scouting for a birthday location for my son and I think we'll end up here. For all its shortcomings it seems to offer a little for everyone. PS- The bathrooms were dark and dirty when we visited. There was no TP or AC. I know most parks don't AC their bathrooms but this building has no shade trees around it so it gets super hot inside. Would it be asking too much to add a wall unit AC to the restrooms for a little respite from the heat?!?

Yelp
Awesome splash pad open most of the day : went almost every day while vacationing here ; ranges in amount of people ; best after 4pm
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Love this park especially during the week when all the older kids are in school lol. They have two play areas one for the little kids and the other for the younger kids. I like that idea however you still get the older kids in the younger kids play area. It was a windy day we should've brought a kite however there was another mom there that had one and was nice enough to share. You have a perfect view of the Orlando eye and a great place for a picnic. There are several picnic tables great to bring the kids on a cool day or even a hot day and have them go to the splash pad. It was closed today as they were remodeling it but can't wait to bring the kids to play there Amazing park especially when the older kids are in school
google avatar

Daniela B.

Yelp
The best park for the kids and parents around Orlando!! With 2 beach courts, a huge splash pad, barbecue area, restrooms and an awesome playground with a lake view. My kids are already asking to come back tomorrow again.
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
I had been really excited about visiting this park with my toddler. I had heard all about the playground and the splash pad, and today turned out to be the perfect day to try it out. When we arrived, there was a hand written sign that said splash pad closed for maintenance. I guess the only way to have known that in advance would have been to call, but that's generally not what people do when visiting a park. There were other families that had also driven a ways looking to play in the splash pad area that were disappointed. My biggest issue was the playground. There is a good deal of playground equipment, however my daughter could experience none of it because it was scorching hot. There was really no shade available; what was supposed to be a cover didn't actually provide any coverage over the equipment during the main part of the day. I don't understand why a playground would be built without adequate coverage in the Florida sun. We ended up leaving within 10 minutes of arriving and headed over to Shadow Bay park, which was outstanding!

Yelp
I do love the overall area for this community park. There's many things to do for everyone (all ages). There's a baseball field, soccer field, basketball court, volleyball court, playground, running/walking trail, dog park and much more. I typically utilize the dog park when I'm here. There is a "large dog" side and a "small dog" side. Which is great. My puppy just turned 6 months but he's already ~40Ibs. He gets to play with smaller breeds at his dog sitters and occasionally big breeds. I like to have him on the large dog side though, so he can run and play with other dogs his size. There's a water hose, a huge bowl, little swimming pools, trash cans, three picnic tables and varies toys throughout the park. I have found that overall, this park is great to bring my puppy to. However, yes I do have some complaints. For one, there's A LOT of dog poo everywhere, especially around the boarders of the dog park. I just really wish that people would be respectful and pick up after their dogs. I think it speaks a lot of their character. It would be great if the community sent people to clean the area daily. Secondly, there's a few deep holes and holes you can't really see until last minute. My dog tripped a couple times, I fell in one as well and it worries me that someone will twist/break a leg/ankle. Perhaps the people who maintain the park could fill the holes every night/morning? Just a thought. I do understand that some dogs love to dig but it's extremely dangerous for others. That brings me to my last complaint. I've been here a couple times now to say that there are definitely some aggressive dogs here, which is incredibly unfortunate. My dog was almost attacked and this doesn't speak about the park itself. It speaks about the owners. However, I did have to mention it. There were other dog owners telling me that their dogs have been attacked, they've seen other dogs being attacked too and going through some reviews, other people are complaining that their dogs have been attacked. Overall, I will possibly still come to this park during non peak hours for my my puppy to run around by himself or one or two other dogs. If I see more than a couple dogs, I'll probably head the other way.

Yelp
Nice park and good Playground with a splash bonus! We spent good amount of time with my little one but we only complain that it was windy and we did not get a chance to try the splash
google avatar

Alvaro Q.

Yelp
Great park for toddlers; good dog park but not the best in town. Great park overall specially in that side of town.
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
Pretty good splash pad (closes between 2-3 for cleaning) but I have been to better. Just could use some more interactive water toys rather than water just running. My 3 yo loved it. The play ground was great. It is tucked in behind a subdivision and public school. The address above is for a private pool/tennis club. Keep driving on the same road and you will see a blue sign.
google avatar

Kelly A.

Yelp
This park is so beautiful! I love just driving in as the trees and grass is always looking beautiful! I first visited this park to go to the splash pad. The kids love it! There's a side that is for the little kids and the other side is for the bigger side, but it always gets mixed. I usually have fun playing through the area with my son too. It's a nice refresher for a hot day! They have several tables around the splash pad area to put your items down. They have bathrooms next to splash pad, but you don't have to walk around the outside of the fenced area to get to the restrooms. Recently we visited and just went to the park area. The only bad thing is that the items they have at the park get very hot if its sunny out, so my son wouldnt go down the slide because it was hot. but they have a seat that I've never seen that the child sits in and spins around, and some other play items that I've never seen as well. They also have a sand area with volleyball courts which the kids also have fun playing in. Their are several small pavillion's around the park and several tables around the playground area. The background is a beautiful setting as its by a lake. Its also a beautiful park to take photos as i have done this and have seen some awesome photos taken there too.
google avatar

Bibi Y.

Yelp
I accidentally posted my review on the check in but I just wanted to say how lovely this park is. There is a playground and a little water park. Really beautiful scene too. I'm definitely going to be coming back.

Yelp
This is my favorite park in Orlando! It is tucked away behind several subdivisions off of Apopka Vineland road. It has everything for everyone! They have a dog park for big and small dogs, several covered pavilions, a playground, soccer field, softball fields, volleyball and basketball courts, and a huge splash pad for the little ones. This well maintained park is ideal for working out and walking, as it has a trail that goes around the park and even a hiking trail. Did I mention the awesome view on the lake? I come out to walk, because it's never too crowded. My sister held my nieces birthday party there and everyone had a great time. Because of all of the amenities, the kids( all different ages) always had something to do. If you haven't been here before, you should check it out!

Yelp
The story you are about to read is true. This is citrus town, Dr Phillip, Florida. Named for the citrus magnate who once owned 5,000 acres of orange groves. My name is Alice, I wear a harness. November 7th, 2010 my assignment in Winter Garden, Florida continues. The human officers have allowed me time to scout a second Canine Recreation Facility at the Dr. Phillips Community Park. This is my after action review of that mission. This park has very little tree cover, but the lake north east allows clear views and cool breezes. This exercise yards is again segregated by size, so I passed the smaller troops on my way to the big yard. Access to the park is via cement paths a short trot from the transport staging area. The area is grass covered and only worn in a few areas. There are few human seating areas with no cover from the elements. The watering area is near the entrance gate. I must remember the time of year if I recon this park again. Colder months would require shorter time in the field without proper thermal equipment. The nearby water pulls body heat quicker than a dropped steak at a bar-b-que. The local squad seems to consist of younger troops, and discipline did become an issue twice during my visit. I would recommend an active security force for new recruits until more familiar. Final Summary: The Good: Cool breezes and grass covered exercise yard The Bad: Can be cold in winter months The Ugly: No shade or covered seating for humans.

Yelp
Have not been here in a about 2 years ....I get the $1 charge for everyone now no big deal!!! BUT why would you take away the table benches away and replace them with lounge CHAIRS???? This is not a resort pool !! 4 benches to sit at and 15 lounge chairs?? sorry but WTF!! Parents lounging out watching kids and holding chairs??? Parks and taxes??? GOOD LUCK and NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Yelp
Clean like WHOA! I used to live on this side of town and sometimes I miss it because it's always so clean and pretty, just seems like it's always sunny in Dr. Phillips. Well this park, adds to this beauty. It is huge and has basketball courts, a water pad play area and a gorgeous dog area. I went specifically for the doggie park with my little yorkie, Haley, on a weekday around 2pm. It was dead =( Other than that, Haley had a great time. The dog section is a little hidden so make sure to follow the signs around to it and keep going. It is to the right of the water pad in the back. There are two sections, one for large dogs and small dogs (under 20 lbs) and there is so much room for the pups to run around. There are also cleaning areas for the pups that get really dirty. Overall, great park, wish I lived closer!
google avatar

Ryan K.

Yelp
I have to come back and bump up the rating to 4 stars.Once again this rating is applicable to the dog park and not the other amenities. (various sports fields, small children's play area with water, and picnic grounds) After seeing what some other parks have to offer, this park is clearly a cut above the rest. You very often see the grounds people driving around, both keeping the area clean and being personable with the patrons. One of the, if not the cleanest park around, usually good occupancy, sensible owners from what I have noticed, and never once a dog fight (or human fight for that matter) in my dozens of times here.
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
Love this park for toddlers! They have a splash pad, and a great playground!! Its one of our favorites, but a bit of a drive for us. It is on a lake, so you get a little breeze and they have a dog park too, but we have never used that. They also have sand volleyball & basketball and most importantly.....clean bathrooms!
google avatar

Yelp
The groundskeeper does an outstanding job of maintaining the field for softball. He really cares about the quality of the field for the kids. Nice splash pad for the little ones, plenty of seating in the pavillion area, walking trail, good view, great park

Yelp
Everyone I bring my family to this park I feel so good about the decision to move to west Orlando , the cleanliness and the quality of the people who live in this area is what I have been looking for , now as for the Dr Phillips park I will call it the best hidden secret in our zip code , cute little park but with bunch of activities and all on the lake , volleyball , basketball, fitness trailers , dog park , kids water park and more to offer .

Yelp
Very nice spot to let the little ones run wild, enjoy a beautiful view of a lake whole the sound of children's laughter sing in the fresh air. Great family place to relax.

Yelp
Wow, what a gem! I wish I lived closer to this park so I could go every single weekend! My little dog LOVES the small dog area. It's very clean and has grass instead of the mulch that seems so common in other parks. Next to the small dog area is the big dog area and boy, those guys have fun over there too! There's a large splash area for kids to play and it was getting busy this morning when we left. Lots of kids having fun, parents enjoying the day with their little ones. There are some really nice picnic areas scattered around and this would be the perfect park for a family and friends cook out. I really wish Orange County would give us more parks like this one. Fitness trail, basketball courts, splash area, large/small dog areas, PERFECT!

Yelp
I recently went to this park with Central Florida French Bulldog Meetup Group. I never knew this park was tucked back off of Apopka Vineland Road. It's very nice. The dog park area is great. They have the double gated entrance and two sides for the dogs, small and large. The day we went our dogs wanted to go on the big dog side. It's a much larger space. They have lots of room for the dogs to run. There are a few trees, holes and dirt. I liked that they had a wet station. They actually had a kiddie pool for the doggies to play in which is nice during the summer because it can get hot here in Florida. We went early, 9 am but the Frenchies still got over heated. So glad for the hose and pool. When we were done we walked around the park. The Splash Pad area is way cool! It opens at 10 am and it's only $1 for your kiddie to play there. I think they should make one for dogs! How cool would that be? They have everything from sports to grills and large open spaces to lay out in the sun. I am surprised that they don't have lake access though. This park is located on Big Sand Lake. But maybe they couldn't have lake access in order to build. Not sure. The LongHorn Steakhouse Loop is a .6 miles of trail meandering through 10 acres of upland habitat. They are open 7 days a week. 8 am until 8 pm (summer hours) 6 (winter hours)

Yelp
Great walking area, clean bathrooms, and fun playground. My son also enjoyed playing in the sand on the volleyball court.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the park. It was much more than I expected and a great place to bring the doggy! The dog area itself wasn't too busy and gave the pup a good amount of time to himself to run around and explore. There is also a nice path that goes along the lake you can walk along and a play area for kids. Overall, I would give this park two thumbs up.
