"I visit the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Museum to get a comprehensive overview of Sun Yat-sen’s life and Hong Kong’s role in the reform movements that reshaped modern China; the museum at 7 Castle Road is free and open Monday–Wednesday and Friday 10am–6pm, Saturday–Sunday 10am–7pm (closed Thursdays)." - Matthew Kepnes

Must-see museum located in a stunning Edwardian building. Don’t be deterred by the lack of uploaded pictures; photography isn't allowed inside, but the exhibits are full of fascinating old photos and artifacts from Dr. Sun's personal and political life. It's a treasure for history buffs, and best of all, entry is free!

A wonderful, must-see museum housed in a beautiful Edwardian building. Don’t let the lack of uploaded pictures of artefacts put you off, the reason is probably because photo taking is not allowed. The museum is full of fascinating old pictures and artifices from Dr. Sun’s personal and political life. A must see for history buffs! Entry is also free

It's a great place to visit. The building itself shows great architecture. You can see from both exterior and from the rooms and balcony. The tiles, the wood and stones were very beautifully designed and now well maintained of. A bonus to visit is that it is free for entry. For long time it has been dedicated to showcase Dr Sun Yat-sen's history and exhibits. Staff there were very kind and helpful. The staircase, the main room and the balcony are the highlights in my opinion. One thing to note is photography is not allowed inside the exhibition rooms showcasing Dr Sun's exhibits.

During my recent visit to Hong Kong, I had the opportunity to explore the Sun Yat-sen Museum, a beautifully restored mansion that pays homage to the remarkable life and achievements of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of modern China. Nestled in a serene corner of the city, the museum showcases the historic Sun Yat-sen family mansion, offering visitors a thoughtfully curated journey into Dr. Sun's influential political career and his enduring legacy. I was immediately captivated by the grandeur and elegance of the restored mansion. The intricate woodwork, ornate decorations, and architectural details transported me back in time, helping me visualize the opulence of the era when Sun Yat-sen inhabited the premises. The museum has done an excellent job of preserving the authenticity and historical significance of the building, allowing visitors to step into the past. The exhibits within the museum provided a comprehensive overview of Dr. Sun's influential contributions and the revolution he spearheaded to bring about change in China. Engaging displays, informative panels, and multimedia presentations brought his story to life and gave me a deeper understanding of his struggles, ideals, and vision. One of the most impressive aspects of the museum was the collection of personal artifacts belonging to Dr. Sun Yat-sen. From his writings to his clothing, the meticulous preservation and presentation of these items offered a personal connection to the man himself, truly making history come alive.

Dr Sun Yat Sen Museum is a small museum on Castle Road, Mid-Levels that pays homage to the man regarded as the father of modern China. It is housed in a century-old historic building - Kom Tong Hall - named after the person who built it Ho Kom-tong. There are a number of exhibits, but nothing that really stands out and it’s annoying that photography isn’t allowed in the exhibition halls. Still, entry is free and this is a good place to get acquainted with Chinese history and Sun Yat Sen’s political life.

Dr Sun Yat-sen actually never lived in this house, it's only a big house that belonged to one of the wealthiest families in Hong Kong about a hundred years ago. They're full of copies about Dr Sun, including photos, documents, statements his living stuff, etc. The only thing that is not bad, it is free of charge for visitors. Suppose you have nothing to do on weekends with your family, friends even alone. It's still good to walk into this house when you pass by the mid-level. Just take it as a city walk, don't expect too much.

The museum is worth a visit but most artifacts are replicas. The staircase is absolutely fabulous so for all those IG lovers out there. Go

Yelp
The museum in my opinion was "so-so" as it pertains to the historical information and installation regarding Dr. Sun Yat-Sen. Mostly photographs and informational displays with stories and words (probably not as good as other museum installations I have seen on Dr. Sun Yat-Sen in Taiwan or elsewhere), plus a few items of clothing, a short video and such. The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen installation is on the top floor. The restored building dating back to 1914 that houses the museum was really quite special. I am glad when I see Hong Kong or private entity saves historic buildings like this. It is a former residence that is a blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles. They show a 10 minute video on the restoration that was involved. It really is a beautiful building and for $10HKD, worth a pop into see.
