Dragon Phoenix

Picked up an order of sesame chicken and crab rangoons. First, the rangoons were overcooked. I didn't even attempt to eat them, they were not appealing at all. The sesame chicken, as soon as I opened it, had hair in it. I called immediately and they did apologize and delivered a replacement. However, either way, the chicken was overcooked, the sauce too thick, and the rice subpar. The egg roll was also overcooked. Unfortunately will not be back..

We decided to finally ditch Jade Garden. We gave them a try today and what a awesome experience we took some food to go and surprise they put silverware in the bag! And the food was delicious! This will be our new Chinese takeout spot! Thank you everyone at Dragon Phoenix for such a wonderful meal!

This Chinese restaurant is super clean, and kid-friendly. My kids loved the little fishies, and didn’t want to leave the restaurant. I had this for breakfast since my kids and me wanted to try something new today. I have to say, this is the best restaurant I ever went to. My kids are absolutely obsessed with the chicken wings, which I can’t blame them, there is also healthy and vegetarian options. In conclusion, this is the best restaurant I ever went to.

I ordered on DoorDash They deliver their own food and I’ve been waiting over an hour with no updates. The status on door dash doesn’t change To the point I had to call them 3x and cancel my order. I was looking forward to try their food but their delivery sucks!

Order fried chicken with pork fried rice came out great . Ordered sesame chicken was completely disgusting I used to love this place idk what’s goin on but you guys have to do Better. Sauce on chicken was super thick thicker than molasses and chicken was not cooked correct I took one but I’m literally sick to my stomach

Me and my son loved the food we ordered yesterday, so we came back today for another order of Singapore Noodles to eat here at the restaurant.

We ordered from here and my son got a small white rice. Thank God he didn't eat it because as soon as he opened the container it smelled like rotten swamp water. Absolutely disgusting. He could have gotten so ill if he ate it so we shall never be trying again

The food was nice and hot, it came out within minutes, very clean.

Always fresh, hot and enjoyable. Good food, reasonable pricing and they deliver! Can't ask for better when you're on the go, and need a decent meal. Thanks, I miss the "We delivery" sign lol. That was always a laugh with a wink and a smile.

First time ordering here and it was pretty good! Delivery was super fast and driver was pleasant! Ordered chicken lo mein , general Tso chicken with pork fried rice and egg roll. Also got boneless spare ribs with crab rangoon. Everything was still hot when I received it. Decent prices too! Only complaint was egg roll was very oily but besides that food was good!

Food was good and full of flavor and the meat wasn't fatty like most places. The crab rangoon was light and crispy and the egg rolls were really good, except they were really greasy. Would try again though! PLUS fastest delivery I think I have ever had.

I gave them a very bad review years ago, but decided to try them again. The food is very fresh and enjoyable. It's not the best in flavor, but you can tell care was taken when preparing it. We will order here again. I am pleased because it is pretty healthy for Chinese food. It doesn't have all the salt and oil you usually get.

The chicken wings was probably one of the best foods I have ever eaten I recommend that you should come here. I had never eaten anything so crispy and delicious.

Lady that own this restaurant Is very rude If you come complain about the food beware!!! She will throw tantrum in the business So take what you have and don't complain Or you will be in trouble. Wish I recorded her scream and co worker maybe her husband really was trying to help. Wow agian beware If you have any complaints keep the to yourself

I don't know how I've lived in Meriden most of my life and haven't tried this place. This is the best Chinese food I have had in CT period. I generally order takeout and the food is always hot when it gets to me, my order is always correct and the people who work there are always very nice over the phone. I ordered the chicken wings with pork fried rice and their egg drop soup. The wings are well seasoned, juicy, big and have amazing flavor. They are always hot (temperature) when I get them and that's the best way to enjoy them. Generally when I order egg drop soup I add some salt to taste. I don't have to do that with them. The soup is well seasoned and flavored as it is. If you're looking for a really solid and delicious Chinese restaurant for lunch or dinner this place should be your go to.

This Chinese restaurant was the best one I ever went to, throughout my life as a Asian, I have to say that no restaurant can beat this, it has my kind of taste. I highly recommend the Lo Mein, it is the best one to me. Not to mention, the furniture and style in the restaurant is comfortable and clean, unlike most restaurants I go to they are dirty. The service is also very good, they take pretty quick, so I don't have to wait for hours and hours there. The restaurant is not loud, which is one thing I hate the most, yelling, loud noise, so on. They immediately greet me when I walk in, since I come very often, they know exactly what my order is. In conclusio, I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for something new to try.

Dragon Phoenix has a special place in my heart. I've been coming here for about 7 years now, and I won't even consider Chinese food from anywhere else in the city, it's that good. I even get disappointed if I'm out of town and someone wants to order Chinese because I know it won't be as good as Dragon Phoenix. The staff is super great. Recommend the pork lo mein and fried dumplings.

This was my go to food delivery when I had my first apartment. They taste just as good as they did then! Prompt service.

Great local Chinese food! The staff was friendly and was able to get our large order together quickly. The food was tasty and everything came out hot and was as expected. The spiciness level for hot was also perfect for some of the additional heat levels added. I also have to recommend the party tray of Crab Rangoon! It's tasty and if you love Crab Rangoon like my friends and I do, you'll appreciate the number of them that come with this!

Food is always amazing. No complaints here. Wish I didn't have to door dash for delivery so I don't have to pay delivery fees. But in the end it's still worth it.

YAY! Not one onion. Not one scallion. They listen. I am NEVER disappointed when I order from Dragon Phoenix, no matter what I order. It's perfect. not too jhot, not too sweet, Just right. Never a stray onion, or scallion. The ribs were perfect. The shrimp rolls were perfect. The fried rice was made to order. PERFECTLY. They accepted our credit card over the phone for the delivered order, (not sure why Frank from review dated 12/18 posted they didn't accept his card, they've always accepted ours...) we tip the delivery person. THANK YOU, DRAGON PHOENIX, you NEVER let me down.

"End the Suffering" It's so obvious now why there's never any customers parked in front of the restaurant when I pass by at lunch time. I was rushing back to work at lunch time and pulled in to get something quick and I was the only customer there. As soon as I walked in, I thought about running back out. But I took one for the team to write this review. I was so hesitant to place an order. This place is a dump. The outside is run down and shabby. The inside is disgusting. God only knows what lurks in the kitchen. The dining area has junk everywhere. There was even a bicycle in the corner. One table had half eaten chicken wings and something that resembled soup. They can start by at least cleaning the tables. I kept my order simple. A small hot & sour soup and a small house special fried rice. As I'm writing this review, I'm also praying that I don't get sick. I went as far as a small taste of each, but still worried about getting sick. The hot & sour soup was strangely extra dark. The taste wasn't too bad, but I was so freaked out by the cleanliness of the restaurant or lack there of, I stopped eating it. The fried rice comes with shrimp, pork, and chicken in it. With the few spoonfuls that I had I found the shrimp to be ok, the pork was alright, but the chicken and rice were weird. The rice had a strange beige color to it. Like it had been sitting in the fridge for a long time. The chicken looked fatty and gross. And wouldn't you know it, I bit into what appeared to be a piece of a chicken bone. I wonder if the health dept knows about this place. It needs to be shut down.

Tonight , ordered a large beef chow mein , plenty of meat , varieties of vegetables were perfect ( see pic ) , came with a container of rice , rice was cooked perfect. Wonton soup was good also. Overall , a good meal , delivery was early , and received hot. I have ordered 3 meals from them and I have no complaints. Keep up the good work !!!!

Picked up my order and it was of course on time. Very tasty food here for fast food Chinese! Big portions, priced well, and nice people! Still wish they accepted credit cards for delivery instead of cash only! I don't understand the reasoning behind this. So now I just pick it up

Not the most Extravagant Chinese food but it fits the bill and fills the belly. Never fails to satisfy the price is good and they're usually pretty fast. Unlike other Chinese in the area I have not had any problems at this location.

Just not good- I was very disappointed that my favorite Chinese place stopped doing delivery and I was forced to try and find another. This was the only place I had a menu for that also did delivery and we tried it for the first time Saturday night. Food came quickly and the order was correct. However that's where the good ends. What we got was bland oily food. We got the house special fried rice which was just oily white rice with nothing in it. Maybe a couple small shrimps (seriously like 2) and what may have been shredded chicken. But no veggies, no color to it, no flavor!! What we used to get from their competitor is 100 times better. Also we got the boneless spareribs- again lacked flavor, were very oily and the pieces very fatty. To be honest I gave half the order to my dog. Lastly got some fried shrimp- usually this comes with tartar sauce but we received none and some chicken wings. The chicken wings weren't bad actually, I did think these were good but the main part of the meal was so underwhelming that this couldn't make up for it. Overall the service was great, the lady that answered the phone was very nice, delivery was quick- this is only reason I gave 2 stars. But the food besides chicken wings was just terrible. Looks like we are picking up Chinese in Meriden from now on...

The best Chinese food around. The only place I'll order Chinese from. They're delivery is really fast, and the delivery person is always kind and nice.

We ordered the chicken with red sauce and my boyfriend and I got food poisoning we were sick all night. We use to love this place but the quality went down hill

Food is ok.. If you get the right day its amazing.. Today.. The rice was bland no flavor shrimp or pork.. Salt or msg would help.. Spicy items labled on menu were bland and not spicy Dragon and Phoenix not spicy and bland also the beef schezwan also not spicy bland in flavor

Well what can i say but stay away. I ordered 3 combination platers of general tso, and to my demise there was a bug inside mine. I called back I've been ordering from them for 10 years. Expecting them to make it right i asked for them to refund my money, bare minimum they could of done. But guess what nope they fought me all the way threw. Had to have my back deny the charges 3 times but i lost at the end. Bad horrible customer service, how dare you feed me a bug and not take responsibility for your inability to keep your food safe. SHAME ON YOU can't wait for OSHA to finish my complaint. Hope you learn something

Pretty bad. That was the worst Chinese food I've had in awhile. The food was pungent and tastes weeks old with bad odor to it. The only reason I gave it more than 1 star was that the delivery was pretty fast. Hire them as fedex or ups drivers, cuz food industry isn't this places sting suit.

After reading a lot of iffy reviews I gave this place a shot. Quick and straight forward on the phone. Which is what I prefer. Reasonable delivery time. Portions are above average and the food was great!

At first, I really liked the general tsos chicken (this was the first dish I ordered from here). However I won't be ordering anytime soon because their chicken with broccoli was absolutely disgusting. First of all, how is it possible to mess up a classic like this? The chicken was extremely fatty and tasted almost raw. Not sure why they would leave all the fat lingering around the chicken like that, all mushy and disgusting. Almost like they didn't clean this meat in any way whatsoever. This particular dish ruined my appetite entirely, questioning the cleanliness of this place overall. I'm truly disgusted.

We drive by this restaurant almost every day and if we judged books by its cover, then this would be a dusty book in the basement of a library. A book that was so horribly written, the librarians hid it from sight. My co-workers swear by this place but for those that do, they're a little on the "trailer-y" side of the spectrum. I am from NYC where restaurants like this are on every other corner in every other street in every borough. As NYers, we learn to stay away from these places. Bottom line, when you open one of their fortune cookies and it reads: "That wasn't chicken" there is a high likelihood that it wasn't. Take note from the other comment/review: "The place smelled like they just sprayed ant repellent" ... The sad part is, the commenter still ate there. Pathetic excuse for a Chinese Restaurant, maybe they ought rename it "Ghetto Jade Rat" or something.

This's my favorite Chinese food in town,the taste is great and delicious .l love so much!

I have ordered here because it was close to my old office. I was not impressed by the food and did not feel so well after I ate it. The prices are affordable, but its clear that you greatly sacrifice quality for value. I would not go here again. There are a lot of other options in Meriden and nearby Wallingford.

This place is the bomb . And they deliver ! I always get the chicken wings . There super good and crunchy . There pork Lo me in is the best . Crab Rangoon and sweet and sour sauce is super tasty . The best Chinese I've had in Meriden . And the prices are good .

I ordered for delivery and was very satisfied. The Beef LoMein was great. I added Soy sauce as is my preference and still good. I had Sweet and Sour Chicken, and it was perfect. Crisp outside and fully cooked, yet tender inside and not overly greasy. Deep fried so you do get some grease. The chicken was the best I have had. The sauce and a good flavor. Not too sweet or sour but a good blend and thickness. The pork egg rolls were a bit greasy for my taste, but after I patted a bit of it off, the taste and crispness more than made up for the excess grease. Everything was so hot, as though it was fresh from the wok and fryer. Could help that I was just a few blocks away, but it was nice. The delivery person was right on time with the Eta I was given.

I have always enjoyed egg rolls and mushy pork from Dragon Phoenix. It's one of my favorite chinese takeout spots in Meriden. I will say that delivery hasn't been as fast as it used to but the food is still definitely worth it.

Food is alright, but the service is horrible. Placed an order a month ago, showed up before they closed at 10:30 but the door was locked. A young man let me in, I paid for the order and went home. Tonight I tried to order and a woman on the phone kept accusing me of placing a large order and not picking up, which is not true. I told her it wasn't true and she should ask the gentleman she works with, but she insisted. I said forget this order I will call somewhere else, said Thank you and hung up. She called me back ! She insisted it was never picked up, and then asked you still wanna order?" I said no, my partner was on the phone ordering from another place, she repeated it, you no wanna order. I said no thank you and she hung up. No apologies, no I checked and you did pick up and pay nothing. Another time I called at 10:00 asked if they closed at 10:30 and was okay still to order. They told me yes, I placed the order, and said I'm leaving work now I will be there in 20 minutes, she said it would be ready in 15. I pulled in the parking lot 20 minutes after ordering like I had said, and she was on the phone calling "you gonna pick up order". Really bad customer service, and very rude. You can get much better at several other places. The inside of the place is very run down and I'm not sure what the kitchen looks like, but they lost our business tonight we will go elsewhere from now on, it's not like there isn't a Chinese Place every other block.

I ordered my usual Beef with Mushrooms, and usually this is no problem. I always ask that they leave out the vegetables, In this case the guy on the phone said "I can't do Beef & Mushroom only...." What? The worst excuse I ever heard previously was "It will cost extra" which makes sense. So they end up sending me 2 pieces of beef packed into a massive container of the least fresh mushrooms I have ever seen. I almost thought it was a joke until I realized I'm in Meriden and this is the trend up here for Chinese. Girlfriend got Lo Mein or some noodles, she did not finish her dish. Even the add ons like the egg rolls are weird. Total waste of $30.

A Meriden staple. Classically called "We Delivery", It's been my go-to Chinese place for the last 15 years. It's not the best Chinese food I have ever had, but it's consistently good, and has never been bad. They alway say they'll be there in 30-40, but really, they'll be there in 15! They don't screw up orders. 100s of orders and I don't think they've gotten one thing wrong- EVER!

Food was awful and gastly 1.) Chicken Fingers were like small greasy frozen balls, prepared fast terrible chief. 2.) Pork egg foo young was over cooked on the bottom which made the pork taste dried out, dreadful.3.) Shrimp roll was lacking shrimp, tasted like I was eating a cabbage roll. These are new owners and they charge more money than the previous which shows how much they care about quality and more worried about profits. I will never do business with Dragon Phoenix Chinese Restaurant anymore.

I have been eating delivery food from this place since I was a kid. The building itself is a little run down but I am convinced this is the greatest chinese food in the world.

This place used to be great. Been going here for 10+ years. Within the last year a relative bought them out. Prices went up a little which is ok. The issues here far outweigh a few nickels. First, you get less food. If you are going to charge more, keep the proportions the same. Second, the food doesn't taste as good. I don't know if they switched cooking staff or if they switched oil, but there's something "off" about it. Lastly, the new owners do not run the business well. They will tell you 15 minutes to pick up and it will be 45 minutes. They will tell you 40 minutes for delivery and it will be in 20. I picked up my last order after they told me 15 minutes. It was one combo meal. It took 42 minutes. 6 people who ordered after me had their food sitting out and hadn't picked it up yet when I left. In summary, this place lacks what it used to since the new owners took over. I'd recommend speaking to the previous owners to see what they did and working from there. I personally will try a new restaurant as they have failed the last 9 orders.

Holy roasted marshmallows on Christmas Eve 2013 a woman ordered boneless spareribs from this place and receive an extra element to her order... I freaking cockroach!!!! Found on Facebook, Meaghan DeMerchant she has photos! I have ordered here before and I personally have never been fond of them... They're just gross so it's been year since my last order but I am so not surprised by this at all. Just driving by the place makes me feel dirty!

Good place for Chinese takeout. The prices are good, and you get lots of food. I'd say the food is better than lots of other places, even. It's also nostalgic for me because my middle school used to order Dragon Phoenix golden fingers for lunch once in a while.

Honestly I saw the reviews on this place after moving to the area and I figured I'd ignore them and give them a try. This place is absolutely terrible the only good thing I can say is that the delivery was quick but the food is so bad it wasn't even worth it. Would never order from here again.

My fiance and I have been ordering take-out from this place for quite awhile. It is the only place in Meriden we order Chineese from. The people there are fast and friendly. The food is the usual chinesse greasy spoon type. Its not fancy, but you get what you pay for. Also its nice that they DO do delivery.

Nothing spectacular about this place, except for some of the convenient meal combinations you might not expect from a take out joint. Their appetizers are a bit better than their entrees, of which you'll find the standard assortment you'd see anywhere else. In short, Dragon Phoenix is a convenient neighborhood place, but its nothing special . I'd give them 2.5 stars if yelp would let me, but i'm rounding them down to 2 because they are very unfriendly to dine-in customers.
