Ah, Huatulco - a quintessential Mexican paradise with golden sands, turquoise waters, and palm trees whispering sweet nothings. At the heart of it all lies Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa, promising a luxurious escape. As a loyal Hyatt Globalist, I was ready for a three-day pampering session under the Oaxaca sun.
Now, let's address the elephant in the room - the arrival. Dreams doesn't offer a shuttle service from Xoxocotian International Airport, nor is there a direct flight from here either. So, my journey began with a six-hour car-rental drive on roads that were best described as a rollercoaster on stilts. The winding mountain passes, hairpin turns, and barely two lanes for the occasional oncoming truck gave my inner daredevil a full workout.
I urge my fellow travelers to fly into Huatulco International Airport instead. It's a mere 25-minute breeze to Dreams, and it will save your nerves (and possibly your stomach).
Once I arrived at Dreams, my anxieties dissipated under the warmth of the staff's smiles. I was upgraded to a Preferred Club Ocean View suite and greeted by breathtaking vistas and impeccable service. The room was a symphony of comfort and style, and the mini-bar was magically restocked daily with my favorite snacks.
The resort itself is a sprawling haven of indulgence. Six gourmet restaurants tickled my taste buds with everything from Italian to Oaxacan specialties. The pools shimmered like turquoise jewels, and the beach beckoned with its soft sand and gentle waves. The Explorer's Club kept the little ones entertained while the adults unwound at the Pevonia Spa, a haven of tranquility.
All in all, Dreams Huatulco delivered a slice of paradise, albeit with a slightly bumpy entry point. The attentive staff, stunning setting, and endless activities created unforgettable memories. Would I recommend it? Absolutely, but with a caveat: factor in the travel logistics and adjust your expectations for peak season. And remember, Huatulco International Airport is your friend!
So, would I brave the winding road again? Perhaps, but next time, I'll fly straight into paradise. Until then, Dreams Huatulco, gracias for the memories - and the reminder that sometimes, the greatest adventures come with a few unexpected twists and turns.
