Very friendly staff but most don't understand English. Housekeeping was done promptly and staff was very courteous. Rooms are spacious, but the shower is in the entrance and can see from the room, absolutely horrible for a family. Had to cover mirror with a towel so could have a little privacy while getting dressed. If you don't go for an early breakfast or dinner, then getting a table at the restaurants is challenging and the wait is long. There is no system of making a reservation. Not many open for breakfast open. They claim so many restaurants but regular guest can't access them unless you're a VIP member of the Hyett exclusions member club. The world cafe had a good spread of cuisines but half the food is not cooked properly the and lots cold or from sitting for a long time, restaurant itself needs some love, upgrades and is Non-AC! The pool was a fight to get a spot, most were putting towels at 5am and not coming till 11am, the resorts refused to do anything about it. I put towels at 6am and items, came to the pool at 8am, people through my stuff away and took my spot, the resorts wouldn't do anything again. The bars around the resort are good for alcohol and non alcoholic drinks. Good entertainment for kids of all ages.
A huge drawback - since this was the seaweed season, we could not access the beach at all! Also, the nasty smell gets to you and can't escape it. Do not visit Cancun during this time of year. This information was not provided anywhere on the hotels website which was quite a disappointment and a shock upon arrival. The day beds by the pool with the huts over them are not free, the resorts doesn't say that either!! As well as some of the restaurants you can't access.
We booked for 13 nights, we requested to cancel our booking and the resort and resort manager declined it. Personally, the Hyett chain is a joke, they don't care about you! The Dream Sapphire resorts and spa claim a 4.5 star but in reality it's a 2 star!!
I hope this helps when you book a holiday!
