Best place to stay quite and clean. Best shuttle around town not to mention Best people down to earth and helpful. Kelly was friendly and gave great opportunity to learn about the area. Jamie has the best personality and can make sure you arrive to your destination safe and her conversations go from the area to anything really. House keeping does a great job on the room's and make sure the room is up to standards. Oh and no bug's 😂 might see wild life and guaranteed to have a visit from a muskox

Cozy and warm accommodations! The beds are especially comfortable and the living room space in the Gold Houses is really nice. A little outside of town, but there is a sidewalk and Nome taxi vans are quite prompt.

We are a family of four and spent 2 nights in Nome to mostly bird watch. Right from the start we were pleasantly surprised by the inn. Our adult son called to ask about getting from the airport to the inn and we were told that they had just started a shuttle service. We were picked up by a super friendly inn employee who lent us some bear spray and a wildlife guide. The check in was a breeze and also a super friendly, helpful individual. We were given two wonderful recommendations- Aura hotel coffee shop and the airport pizza restaurant- both fantastic. We had a wonderful time in Nome and are so glad we made the stop!

On a whim we decided to visit Nome in February and stayed at the Dredge Inn, Sluice Box. After staying in a few of Alaska's villages, I was not expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised. The Sluice Box is very nice. Our room (Miner's Landing Suite) was great. It was very clean and well appointed. It also had some very nice touches like the sink made from on old pedal sewing machine. The kitchen area was also very clean and very well appointed. If one were staying longer-term it would be easy to prepare a nice meal. We had a chance to chat with the woman taking care of the rooms and she was friendly and pleasant. All in all a great place to stay in Nome!

We had a suite with a hotplate, fridge and microwave, which we used to prepare all of our meals, as my wife requires a gluten-free/dairy-free diet which is hard to come by in a place like Nome! We didn't trust any of the restaurants. Just make sure you ask for one of the larger suites. We were put in a small one for starters, and it just wasn't big enough for two people to spend a week and prepare all of their meals. But after one night the staff managed to give us a larger room, and it worked well for us. We also rented a Jeep from them and while it showed the wear and tear of those gravel roads, it worked very well for us. Just be prepared for $6.30 a gallon gas!

The inn (Sluicebox branch) had everything we needed to make our stay in Nome comfortable. A sweet little kitchen with hot plate, fridge, microwave, and 3 ways to make coffee. Roomy bathroom, all the amenities, comfy beds. The room was tidied and bed made daily. Great location within walking distance to restaurants, grocery stores, and the museum, but on a quiet street. The inn has Jeeps available for rent, which is awesome in a town with no car rental agency. We will stay here again.

I had a great stay at Dredge 7! I stayed at the Sluicebox location, and everything went really smoothly. I arrived at around 10:30 am, and they let me check in early, which was great! I was in the Miner's Landing, and the room was very comfortable and clean. The Sluicebox location is great - right in town, and just a few minutes walk from everything (though I guess everything is close by in Nome). I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Nome!

Staying here is just like coming home… self check-in, comfortable bed and fluffy pillows, classic bedroom furniture, mini-kitchen, and friendly-colored room decor. We look forward to staying at the Sluicebox for all the home-like features. Best kept secret in Nome!

Yelp
I just spent a week of vacation in Nome and at the Dredge7Inn. To say both exceeded my exceptions is truly and understatement. There may still be gold in the water off the coast of Nome, but the true treasure is the people of Nome. So genuine, down-to-earth, and caring. This transfers to the team at the hotel. Every single one of them have a heart of gold and go out of their way to proactively help and if there are things to be solved/resolved, they are "on it" straightaway. The hospitality I experienced from the team rivaled that of the many Ritz Carlton's I have stayed at all over the world. It is an older hotel for sure, but they rooms are clean, the beds are really comfortable and the bathroom renovation (in my opinion the most important part) is meticulous. I can't wait to return to Nome and hopefully to stay at the Dredge7Inn. Thank you

Yelp
For Nome this place is definitely five stars. Super comfy beds I loved the fun decor and it's walking distance to everything in Nome. The roomed were very clean and having a kitchen with a full size fridge and a hot plate is a huge bonus for extended stays.

Yelp
I've just returned from a week long photo tour in Nome, Alaska where my party and I stayed at the Dredge 7 Inn for a week of bird photography. Although the staff was very nice and the Inn itself was clean and comfortable, we were treated in the most horrible and unprofessional manner by the owner/manager. We had reserved a nice vehicle from her a year in advance but because we were 25 minutes late picking it up, she refused to give us our nice car and instead stuck us with a dilapidated old pickup truck. All the warning lights were on, the windshield was cracked, and one of the windows would not roll down. A tire went flat when a patch failed and we had to have it repaired ourselves for $75. She used the wrong card number when charging the room for one of our party and, when the bank declined the payment, threatened to evict her. The manager was extremely abusive through the whole process of getting this straightened out and never admitted making a mistake. Finally, she overcharged all four of us by $10 a night for a total of over $67 each. We each had to call to get this corrected. One of our members spoke directly to the manager who, again, was extremely abusive before agreeing to stick to the price that was quoted on our confirmation emails. There are many other hotels and B&Bs in Nome and I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for lodging and car rental. Especially if, like us, you will be going for birding and bird photography.

Yelp
I'm a fan of the Dredge 7 Inn. I stayed in the Coarse Gold Master Suite. The accommodations: It had all the bells and whistles. The room itself was large and furnished with vintage furniture. In the room, there was a private bathroom, king bed, vanity sink, mirror armoire, couch, fridge, table, and flat screen television. The bed was heavenly. The mattress was comfy. Some people prefer a firm mattress, but I liked that it was plush. I also loved the thick blankets, cozy blankets! Another nice touch was the Keurig machine in the room. I was able to get my morning coffee! The service: When you check-in, if no one is available, they leave your check-in pamphlet pinned to the board. It's easy! I only stayed one night, and when I checked out, a young woman greeted me. I wasn't immediately ready to leave at check out time, so she allowed me to sit and read in the "lobby" area until my friend arrived to pick me up. I appreciated the courtesy. Although the prices are a bit expensive (ranging from $145-155 per night), I think it's well worth it. If you happen to find yourself in Nome, AK, be sure to stay here!

Yelp
* Poor value * Poor customer service * Rude/unprofessional ownership * Dishonest, adversarial business practices NOTE: please read all reviews (Google, Yelp, Trip Advisor). In each you will find MANY poor reviews, all relating to excess fees, extreme rudeness, and dishonest business practices at Dredge 7. For starters: * we reserved two rooms with a "shared common space". Each cost $205 per night. The "rooms" were a bedroom in a small trailer-like building, and the common space was a small area containing a table, loveseat and one other chair. This main space did not have a lock. If renting only one room, it is expected to share this small space with other guests. Even for our group of five (which necessitated a "rollaway bed"), it was very tight, and cost (pre-tax) $460/night. * two days prior to check in, our reservation was changed without permission (apparently Dredge "reserves the right to change" -- even though rooms and locations are unique). I had to call to change it back. * the "rollaway" measured about 5' in length and could safely hold maybe 100lb (for a child). Our fifth person was 6'4" tall. We had to return the bed and this person had to rent an entire other room in town. * the TV didn't work. Staff came by to repair it, but then only 5 channels worked. * we rented a vehicle. Again, we requested a Jeep/SUV, and instead were given a truck. * Scrub brush is pervasive in Nome and on every roadside. Unfortunately, we drove along a section of the Nome-Teller road where the truck was grazed by brush on both sides. The scratched were long but not deep and could easily be buffed with DIY polishes. Regardless, it was regretful. But we fully intended to be responsible for any repair. * At the end of our stay, we returned the vehicle quite early (to attend a social) and were unable to contact staff. A couple hours later, as we were about to check out, the owner knocked loudly on the door. Upon entering, she angrily noted the scratch damage, and despite our contrite apologies and assurances that we would work with her to repair them, she continued to berate and insult us before storming out, slamming the door behind her. * At NO point did she talk about how they would proceed with the damage repair. Little did we know, but management had already placed an ***unauthorized charge of $1000 on our billing credit card*** (Note: there is nowhere in the rental agreement stating that they can, without notice, make any such charge). * four days later, we received a ***receipt*** for the repairs. Not an estimate. Not an invoice. A RECEIPT. They had made another ***unauthorized charge*** of $2805 to the card. Moreover, the charge was made payable to Dredge 7, not to the local repair shop. * at no point did any agent from Dredge attempt to contact us to talk about the estimate, or to work with us or our auto insurer. They simply charged our card for the full (and outrageous) amount. At best, the services at Dredge 7 are extremely expensive and of poor value. At worst, the Dredge 7 engages in adversarial business practices with the out-of-town customers that make up the bulk (if not all) of their business. A major damper was put on our trip, even before the extreme charges. It was all our group could talk about as we waited in the airport to depart. While doing so, TWO other people -- both locals -- overheard our conversation. Both said: "I know [the Dredge 7 owner]. You just saw the Real side of her". We won't see her again, and suggest that everyone else avoid Dredge 7.

Yelp
I stayed this week in the Course Gold room. I agree with everything in Sarah M.'s review. Couldn't ask for much more. Hot water, cable, microwave, fridge, sink, hot plate. They charge you if you leave dirty dishes. Love the historical pieces all over this place, really neat that they have taken the time to add these touches. You don't find much more than the basics once you get this far from Anchorage, but this place is great. Keep an eye out for musk ox, they were roaming right outside the door! They have rental cars available, probably $7 cab ride from airport. Bring food in your luggage if you can, groceries are expensive here. That's if you want to eat in your room. No need to check-in or check-out, they leave a map to your room at front desk and leave the room unlocked with key in door. Just leave key and be out by 11 on last day, they email receipt to you. Super easy. There's an iPad to call them if you need anything. I recommend this place, will be returning!

Yelp
The hotel was perfect inside and out and in a good location. However when I arrived my name was not on the arrival board. I had to call the hotel by iPad on the wall to get it sorted out. Secondly I got three letters under my door accusing me of not paying my bill and giving an incorrect credit card. The owner Judy was extremely rude to me after hearing my card wouldn't go through several times on the phone she told me that I gave them the wrong credit card number and have I ever stayed in a hotel before. I phoned my bank and they told me that the hotel had put in the wrong last three digits of my credit card. Finally she listened to me on the phone after telling me not to talk again very rude and agreed to read back my credit card number I gave them a year ago online and had the proof of. She finally admitted it was the the hotels error and apologized for that and said she will take me at my word. As if I was still lying? The rude manner in which she talked to me and kept sending me email and printed notes and receipts that said we must have this cleared up by next day were too much when it was the hotels error. The biggest scam was that my bill that they put on the door was for a different rate not quoted to me on my confirmation. The room rate I had a confirmed receipt for was 185$ and then she tried to charge me and several other guests in my birding group 195$ a night. I guess they thought we wouldn't notice but I did. I went to the hotel and asked to pay the rare that was quoted to me on my printed confirmation and finally got it. I would have come back to this hotel in a heartbeat it was clean and in a great location in town as I stayed in the sluice box location but I've never. Even treated like this in any hotel it was uncalled for and inappropriate and I felt disrespected as I paid for 6 days and was giving the hotel good money but was treated like a criminal due to their own error. I also don't appreciate getting charged 10$ more a night it's shifty and not how good hotels should operate. Also I complained to the owner about a loud person staying near my room on the upstairs level they came in every night at 1:30am and made noise and talked loud she said she would look into it but it appears they were never talked to as they never stopped the noise. The car we were also given that we rented was of sub par quality and that is an understatement. Stay at angel camp B and B or aurora Inn I hear they are good places with friendly management and better rates too.

Yelp
Prior to arriving at the Dredge, they tried to change our reservation to the in-town location at the last minute. Luckily we noticed the email and called and insisted this did not occur, since we wanted what we originally booked. After spending thousands of dollars at the Dredge, we arrived and were given a tiny room in what was essentially a single wide trailer with paper thin walls and whining dogs barking at all hours of the day. We paid $50 per night extra for a roll away bed, supposedly fit for an adult. In reality, even a small child would struggle to sleep soundly on the tiny cot that sagged to the floor with any amount of weight on it, which forced us to also book another room at a different hotel in town at the last minute to accommodate sleeping arrangements for our whole group ($200 more per night). We requested a refund and at first, we're told that the charges would be refunded. All of the beds were uncomfortable and due to the dogs we slept horribly. There was also a security camera in the living room, which felt very strange and discomforting. The cable took many tries to get to work. On the last day of our trip, we returned our rental car on time (8am), while our check out was at 11am. Twice between 9-10:30 we had housecleaning knock on our door and interrupt our morning, clearly trying to get us to leave prior to the checkout time. At 10:45 the inn owner stormed into our room and began yelling at us about scratches on the rental car, berating and belittling us, claiming to "work hard for her money" and indicating that we do not, despite the fact that we were on vacation, and contributing to the Nome economy and do in fact, work very hard for our earnings. After yelling and dehumanizing us, she ended by saying that she would only refund us for one night of the rollaway fee, that we would have to pay for the scratches to the car, and "checkout is at 11" and slammed the door as hard as she could, all while her husband stood silently behind her, presumably for "backup". Please note, she gave us a brand new truck, which we did not request, as we wanted an SUV for the 5 of us (all adults). We were calm, polite, and respectful, everything that she was not. Several days later, we received a charge on our credit card for $4000 in charges to "fix" the scratches to the rental card, without any notice. These scratches were minuscule and could have been buffed in a few minutes time. Worse than the charges was the treatment we received. We had already spent thousands with this inn, and they exhibited nothing but utter disrespect to us. Fair warning, do not stay here if you want to be treated like a respectful, paying customer. You are far better off at the Aurora, Gold Nugget, or the best choice, an AirBnB.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at the Dredge 7 during our honeymoon. We stayed in the Dredge Master suit. The place is very relaxed; we showed up early and they let us stash our bags before check in and take our rental car. The owners are very nice, rooms are quiet and comfortable, water was hot. What else can you ask for? We would definitely stay there again. Our only request would be for room-darkening curtains next time!
