Best Beaches on Hilton Head Island

"On the south end of the island, Driessen Beach is a preferred local spot in summer with a long boardwalk over a salt marsh for easy access, plenty of sand for beach volleyball, lots of shells and nesting crabs to discover, and a playground to keep kids entertained; I’d recommend bringing shoes to protect your feet on the boardwalk and in the shell areas." - Sucheta Rawal Sucheta Rawal Sucheta Rawal is an award-winning food and travel writer who contributes to the world’s leading publications. Such a wonderful spot! Plenty of parking and the bathrooms at the playground/park area are nice and clean. But then the beach!!!! So much space and the sand is perfect! We love it here.

The well-maintained wooden boardwalk passes by a playground and a picnic area before leading to the beach. The beach is beautiful. Small pieces of branches are scattered everywhere, but even that adds to the beauty. We visited this place to watch the sunrise on New Year's Day. We visit Hilton Head quite often and have been to many different beaches, and one of the best things about them is how dog-friendly they all are. They even provide dog waste bags and large baskets filled with dog toys. Parking costs 50 cents per hour.

Always come here when I'm in the area. It's an awesome beach with a good amount of parking. I've seen it full, though, when it was really busy. You pay to park but worth it. The restrooms, play area and beach are all very clean and well maintained. The beach was crowded, but there was still plenty of room. The water was awesome and pretty clear. It was really warm, too.

Hilton Head at us best. Always clean, best staff, super friendly, helpful. The beach is gorgeous of course and I the boardwalk a beautiful hike. Great playground for the kids too! We highly recommend!

The beach wasn't overly crowded. The sand was clean but the water wasn't. It was very murky. One cool thing was all the sand dollars we found, we put them back but that was neat.

Nice beach, clean restrooms and outdoor showers. Beach is ideal for long walks on the beach and beach sports. Only problem was the sea weed on the shore, but that could be seasonal. There is a nice kids play area as well under the tree shades. Dedicated ample metered parking but you have to get here early, maybe before 10 AM to get the parking spot in busy season.

Beautiful park, plenty of parking. Had 3 RV/bus designated parking spaces - paid $.50 /hr. Well maintained, clean bathrooms. Close walk to the beach from the parking lot. Really liked the walkway. Had a playground for kids under age 13.

This beach is very safe, clean, and peaceful. I came from Atlanta on 5/30/2020, Saturday. Left Sandy Springs at 7:40 am. Arrived to this beach at 12:45 pm. I paid $4 for parking with coins at the meter. I changed in the bathroom, which was clean and large. And then I took a pleasant walk through the park to the beach. Thus park has a wheelchair-accessible beautiful playground, multiple picnic tables, swings, slides, etc. There are showers to cleanup, which I appreciated because I was covered in sand and had a 4.5-hour trip back to Atlanta. The lifeguards were super-friendly. People behave, so it’s peaceful and clean. I ran in the beach, I walked, I did a plank, I swam, I met new friends, I ate lunch, and I participated in the baby-shark rescue operation! So much fun! I’m coming back soon.
