This Less-visited Caribbean Island Has Luxe Hotels and Stunning Beaches—and It’s Only 36 Square Miles With No Stoplights

"Little more than a tiny seaside cottage offering alfresco dining for no more than 30 guests at a time, this casual‑yet‑elegant spot is a top local recommendation for Caribbean cuisine. Perched on the island’s northernmost point, it serves uninterrupted views across The Narrows toward St. Kitts and makes a particularly peaceful sunset stop, whether for a relaxed meal with friends or a rum punch in one of the Adirondack chairs lining the shore." - Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila is a bilingual travel writer, editor, and content marketer. Nevis Travel Guide

"Drift is a wonderful island restaurant perched right by the ocean. While savoring a lovely meal of fish cakes, coconut shrimp, and West Indian curry — or maybe a burger with secret sauce — you can see and hear the gentle turquoise waves. It’s also a gorgeous spot for golden hour cocktails." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Exploring the Best Restaurants on Nevis

"Curving around the island's northernmost point, the newly opened Drift is a rustic, white-walled cabana and art gallery with a distinctly private air." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We came to Drift with a larger group, and I’m not gonna lie — the kitchen was slow but the servers were very friendly and attentive. Full-on “island time” energy. But once the food finally hit the table, every single one of us forgot about the wait. It instantly became our favorite meal of the entire week. The lobster ravioli was unreal, and the jerk red snapper (catch of the day) was one of the best dishes I’ve had. Drinks were on point, the vibe was laid-back in the best way, and the whole place just feels like Nevis. Would love to come back during the day because that view deserves its own moment. Highly recommend to anyone — just relax, lean into island time, and enjoy it.

Our favorite meal on the island! The incredible views and ambience added to the experience at sunset. The service was top notch. We had the conch fritters as an app, the lobster and tenderloin for dinner and then a warm gingerbread cake with vanilla ice cream and caramel…it melted in your mouth and I will for sure be trying to replicate it. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends!

I made a reservation weeks in advance, but didn't really need to. When we arrived for lunch, there were only 2 tables occupied and the server said we could sit wherever we wanted. (We were there in the middle of February.) We chose a front table and had a glorious view of the bay. As the sun shifted, it did get hot and I had to switch to the other side of the table. But no worries, we were glad to have sun on us being from the gloomy Midwest in the USA. Our server was friendly but, as in every restaurant we dined on in the islands, was slow. Island time...I know. The place is super cute. We had the coconut shrimp with curry, and the fish sandwich. I thought the shrimp would be cooked in a coconut curry sauce, but it was 4 coconut fried shrimp with a smear of curry sauce on the plate. It was $18, and where I don't usually complain about any restaurant prices, this seemed excessive. The Mahi sandwich was fresh and lovely. It's worth the drive to visit this place. The scenery is breathtaking and the restaurant is very cute. We were considering buying a print of the monkey art, but wow, it's truly expensive.

An absolute dream of a restaurant! Service, atmosphere and food were so wonderful that we went two nights in a row after trying a few other highly rated restaurants and feeling a little let-down. The staff here were warm and engaging, as was the adorable dog who roams without encroaching (unless you beg him to, which we did.) It has a very warm feel with stunning views and perfectly decorated interior highlighted by the works of a highly-talented local artist. The smoked wahoo, coconut shrimp and lobster salad are all completely delightful. As far as entrees, none offered the slightest disappointment. The jerk chicken, both the chicken and lamb curry, the (huge) grilled lobster and the ribs were all phenomenal. All four of us said that we could eat here every day and never be unhappy. Drinks are also fantastic and imaginative. A perfect, beautiful spot that I am sure will be impossible to get into soon - which is well deserved due to the hard work of a staff who clearly take pride in all they do. If you can get in during your visit, you need to!

What an incredible lunch! Highly recommend this as a must stop for lunch and dinner when on Nevis. We got mahi mahi which was perfect, and curry chicken was delicious! Service was not bad, but is island time, so relax and enjoy the amazing view of St. Kitts!

Outstanding local cuisine in a beautiful seaside locale . You’re right next to the water and the nautical vibe and delicious food are amazing!!! Service is superior. We really enjoyed having Kizzy as our waitress which prompted us to return a few more times during our stay.
