Slowing Down on a Fall Road Trip Through Vermont

"My mom and I spend the next two days falling in love with lake life. One afternoon, Captain Holly Poulin of Driftwood Tours takes us island-hopping. We spend another day reading, going for cold swims, and napping on repeat, before sipping sunset cocktails at Drifter's Boathouse Restaurant, at the North Hero Marina."

Cool place to visit, good drinks and a great atmosphere. The staff is very nice with great service. Prices seemed fair. Worth a visit either by boat or car. Overall it's a pretty remote location but it is a cool experience. We had three different types of cheesecake and they were all great and fresh.

I was hesitant to try the restaurant as I heard they were closing in a few weeks and they had a bad rating. After we were seated, the waitress made a couple of comments that should have been red flags. One of which being that she’s worked there for (3) years but never has had the food so she can’t make a recommendation. The waitress did not know what beers were on tap and didn’t have menu for them. We ordered (4) burgers, (1) blackened tuna burger, and (1) lobster roll with wings as the appetizer. Our entrees came out before our appetizer which is not the end of the world but isn’t proper. The wings were literally 1/2 the size of a standard size wing and the flavor wasn’t awesome. The burgers started as frozen patties and were standard in flavor. The burgers did not come out at the temperature ordered. The lobster roll was delicious. The ambiance and location is fantastic. I will return after the new owners take over with a new chef/menu.

We had to try this place as it was on our list to visit before summer ends and since the new ownership. However the food was mediocre at best, burger and chicken sandwiches were bland. The coleslaw was disgusting , all 3 of us did not even eat it. The prices of the drinks must have been outrageous. We ordered the anchor (14.99) and the on deck (14.99) along with a Pina colada slushy and a yummy rummy slushy We didn't get an itemized bill but our tab before tip was $65. Now those are some real expensive drinks or we got charged for something else. We have been here before years ago before COVID and had much better experience and food was better. Skip this place as there are many other stops that provide better food, quality , and prices. A better place across the lake is happy pike. The food and drinks are better, cheaper and comes with fries not a 25c bag of potatoes chips.

Awful service from restaurant staff meaning bartender Angie was rude for no reason as we were waiting for 30 minutes for a single drink. We were respectful about the wait until she was RUDE. We left and you lost out on 4 meals of pay plus a tip for the server. Find better management if ur wanting to stay in business even ur waitresses agree. Called about the decency at least expected of a staff and go laughed at so shows you how poor management is working in the industry 🤷‍♀️ my table would’ve been served at least drinks in under 30 minutes and guess what ;) the other customers felt the same as they were just waiting 50 mins for their damn tab

Great burger, decent crabcakes... very nice server and an awesome view at Drifters. If it wasn't so far off the beaten path or we were staying closer, I'd have ordered drinks, which looked great on everyone else's table. I'd recommend this spot to anyone in the area. It isn't fancy, but it's folksy and you can get a decent meal/experience.

Such a cute little spot. Summer chill vibes to the max. We got lobster rolls with fries. Really good. Our waiter was a really nice young guy who went out of his way to provide good service.

Excellent waitress. Great food but found $14.99 for a burger a little expensive. Great atmosphere.
