Alone for lunch today, so I walked a couple of blocks to the nearby Drogherie Milanese, where I took a seat at the bar. The Drogherie is part of a chain of "diners" here, and I use the word loosely for fear that some of my American compatriots might think of a Denny's or the local Yonkers diner as an analogy.
For today, a glass of Sicilian red is excellent for the Tartare appetizer -- mixed perfectly with eggs, anchovies, and herbs. The Carbonara pasta -- homemade pasta mixed generously and indulgently with egg, parmigiana, pepper, and pancetta is out of this world.
