"Drugstore Espresso, South Yarra by Blueboat. In need of a caffeine fix? Just drop into Drugstore Espresso to feed your addiction. Home to the most charming wait staff found south of the river, your visit will sure to be a hit (of coffee!). Just name your poison - espresso, cold drip, syphon or pour over coffees are all up for grabs."

Decent coffee, the wagyu burger was well cooked, chips were fantastic. However the hot cake was a bit dense & lacking in flavour, there are better offerings around South Yarra if you're after your hot cake fix. Staff were friendly, attentive, served with a smile.

This place is amazing! Absolutely love the coffee, wagu beef burger (11/10) and corn and zucchini fritters with fried haloumi and Vietnamese salad. It was very busy but the service was great.

We were invited by the team at Drugstore Espresso for a Sunday Brunch. This brunch spot is the place to be seen on a busy Sunday morning, along South Yarra's popular Toorak Road. However, the guys are very fast at seating people and turn over of tables is quick, so don't expect too much of a wait. Drugstore's house blend coffee is custom made by Rosso Roasting Co, a Melbourne based boutique roaster. Rosso Roasting hand roast using Rainforest Alliance & Fairtrade Organic coffee sourced from farming communities across South America, Central Africa & Indonesia. We tried the famed buttermilk hotcakes and the green bowl with zucchini pasta and salmon. Both were delicious and worth a try.

Great coffee and food in South Yarra. I enjoyed the coffee. Impressed to see long black served with palate cleanser to clear the tastebuds before the coffee.

Yelp
I went here as it was on the list of Melbourne's top brunch places of 2018 and being a bit behind in my brunch game, I paid it a visit. It's easy to find with ample seating inside and some seating outside. Menu is extensive and has lots of vegetarian options which was a plus as the individual I was brunching with a vegetarian.  There's a variety of dishes ranging from bircher muesli to baked eggs, to grain bowls to scrambled eggs to fritters and to big brekkies.  We got the mushroom hash which was a large hash brown topped with sauteed mushroom and two poached eggs. It could have done with some dressing or sauce as it was quite bland on its own but I liked the hash and the mushrooms and the crispy fried enoki.  The zucchini and corn fritters were three large fritters with lots of kale and edamame salad, two poached eggs, and some deliciously fried haloumi. I loved the combination of haloumi with the kale salad which was refreshing. The eggs were beautifully poached and complemented the fritters. Once again, some sort of sauce would have been useful such as an aioli dip or guacamole as the meal felt very dry.  My mocha was delicious.  Attentive staff.  split billing accepted.  didn't need to queue on a 10am sunday morning

Yelp
So I'm not going to lie, the food isn't the only attraction at this joint. As they say, you eat with your eyes! Would recommend the Coconut Husk Bowl and the smashed avo. Just go and do yourself a favour.

Yelp
What makes Drug Store Espresso a winner, is the staff. These guys are on point when it comes to running a well-oiled machine. We came on a busy & bustling Saturday afternoon and were not disappointed. Yes, it was loud but the service and the food made my experience a definite piece of perfection. I had the spicy kimchi pulled pork , kate moss juice and a couple of coffee's. All perfect.

Yelp
So I didn't come for the coffee as much as I did the burgers, and almost regret that I did. Knowing that I can walk to the end of the street to pick up prime-cut meat patties wedged between soft, glossy, lightly toasted buns topped with [insert combination of various vegetables here] most days of the week has my belt loops stretching in my seat. Their entire selection (which caters to carnivores and vegetarians alike) will set you back $12.50 - and comes with a side of garlic & rosemary thick cut chips. Being a child of the 80's, how I was I ever going to get anything but the Mr. Miyagi? I can't remember having ever had carrot or daikon on a burger before (much less at the same time!), but I completely didn't hate it. The teriyaki didn't overwhelm the beef (thankfully), although I could have used more wasabi in my kewpie (TWSS). I am a glutton for heat, though, so whatever. I'd also recommend making a bed out of the chips, then letting the run-off drizzle over the top. I maintain that if you're going to get to work on clogging your arteries, you may as well do it properly. I dig the fitout although all black may not be to everyone's liking. The vintage apothecary stuff is a nice touch. The tunes were good, although as the place filled during the lunch rush it did get quite noisy. Flying solo meant I didn't have to worry about conversation so I didn't care, though. The wait staff were excellent (in that they were friendly and attentive). If you were in the area and didn't feel like NTran, it'd be rude not to go.

Yelp
This place is very hip from the staff, decor and music. I was recommended to go there for the burger. Coming from the US, I have tried many burgers ranging from fast food to gourmet burgers. I must say this place knows how to make a burger. Starting from the brioche bun, they use one that does not overpowering the flavor. Onion jam and tomato relish complements the flavor well. Especially with an addition of bacon gave it some savory kick. However, the patty was not cooked to perfection. It was a little over cooked so it was not as juicy. Luckily it was a wagyu so it wasn't totally ruined. Someone once told me it's hard to mess up a burger using brioche and wagyu patty since those two by itself is already damn good. But surely, lots of places I've been to cannot live up to the ingredients and cannot make them complement each other. This place was not one. They know how to put things together to complement each other. However, they have a bit of room for improvement. This explains for the 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, I like the burger here and would go back for more.

Yelp
Drugstore espresso is where it's at!!! Great atmosphere. Friendly/happy staff, great coffee and amazing food!!! Need I say more. This place is a one stop shop for your hipster fix. Came here this morning with our little one. Plenty of room upstairs for us to fit but a shame they didn't have a high chair. I guess something that's not on a top priority for a cafe like this hahaha . Coffee was excellent. I ordered the salad bowl and added salmon. It didn't look like much but when you add the dressing it was full of flavour and not too overwhelming. The kimchi was a great taste. Usually a bitter sour taste but this was almost like a sweet chilli. Very enjoyable. Service was excellent. We loved the vibe of the cafe. Very lovely for a 9.30am Sunday morning. Great way to start our day. This is the type of cafe I love and will defiantly be returning to try the remaining menu!

Yelp
Pretty chill, dope vibes, kinda on the expensive side but good healthy vegan and GF options, free wifi. All the good stuff

Yelp
Everything about this cafe is perfect. Tasty food, delicious brewed coffee, beautiful restaurant design, cool music, and friendly, knowledgeable, and cute servers. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Coffee is considered good. Not many good cafes along this section of Toorak road. I like the personality of the cafe - its name "DrugStore" means alot to a coffee-addict like me. The layout of the store (small staircase to the second level - where you can hide and enjoy your morning coffee without being spotted by anyone you know from the busy street. Great environment to catch up with friends. I don't think they open on the weekends though. Worth trying and enjoying its atmosphere in store.

Yelp
Twice here for coffee and brekkie. Very good flavours and quality! Run by a bunch of guys. They seem to care. All food was yummy - Bircher musli and pancakes etc. When other places nearby were closed for extended holidays these guys were there for customers! Even at 8am New Years Day! I certainly appreciated that!!

Yelp
Went in for breakfast around 11AM. Really nicely set out - but that's about it. Stuffed up coffee orders, the table water was warm, and then we waited 1hr 10m for food to come out. Avocado on toast. Maybe they grew the avocado from scratch. Or baked the bread. Or maybe it's just incredibly bad service. Totally should have dined and dashed.

Yelp
Drugstore Espresso: excellent variety, great taste, vibrant atmosphere. Breakfast options range from raw, vegan, vegetarian, paleo, gluten free and everything opposite from this list as well. Ideal place to go with friends as there's food for every type of diet, yet their menu is not overwhelming. After a few visits, I must say that their coffee could be less bitter, and some menu items be a bit tastier (e.g. super salad was dry yet flavours were good.) You can't go wrong with their smoothies, açaí bowl and outstanding saffron burger (after 12p). The staff is attentive, friendly and will help you make food selections if undecided. Go-to brekkie option in South Yarra. Hard to leave disappointed.

Yelp
Really good coffee and laid back staff in a prime area of the city. While I was in Melbourne this place was always packed.

Yelp
It seems there's few things that Drugstore Espresso doesn't have. They do some wicked looking sandwiches and burgers, all day breakfast, decedent brasserie bread treats and saintly salads. They also serve booze and do a great cup of coffee. Yep, I'm a fan.

Yelp
Friendly service, one of the new Third Wave of coffee shops to appear Melbourne.

Yelp
This place used to rock! Perfect coffee and service! But there has been a distinct change in their direction as a business and after 6 months of not going.........I attended to be so disappointed. I waited 15 min for a take away coffee, which was the incorrect coffee. I was disappointed to see the wait staff being called like dogs, when they were clearly under the pump. Sadly this place is not what It used to be.

Yelp
Back for more great coffee, fresh tasty food and awesome service. Brought my kids on this trip and they are working through the juice menu. Now I've tried quite a few breakfast cafés in the area and Drugstore Espresso tops my list so far.

Yelp
The first time I went to Drugstore I had a really bad experience, but have since been back and enjoyed much better service. I had the smashed avocado with polenta chips and really enjoyed it. Generous serving size and nice to see a different accompaniment than bread. The coffee was pretty decent. For my taste it's quite weak, so I would recommend ordering a strong one.

Yelp
Perhaps the best brekkie I had on my 3 week mini-tour of Australia. Had the beetroot fritters with poached egg and sampled my step-daughter's pancakes with blueberry relish - all great flavors. Wonderful coffee. Friendly, attentive staff too!

Yelp
Coffee is great! I especially like the iced coffee. Nice staff who are always full of energy (and probably caffeine). Can get a little busy on Saturday mornings.

Yelp
Brilliant coffee and awesome reubens. Friendly staff despite being a bit 'north of the Yarra'.

Yelp
Delicious food, great presentation, clean tables and top quality service. We had to wait a little long for our food, but that was a minor drawback and understandable given we were dining over the holidays and they were very busy. Will definitely be back when I am in he area again.

Yelp
Have walked past this store plenty of times and usually people about and food in glass counter looks good/apetising. Ordered a beef sandwich, what the!!! $12, bread dry, couple of days old, definitely not fresh and tastes like a McDonalds Big Mac. First and last time for me.

Yelp
Just had lunch at this place and felt compelled to post this review! We all ordered burgers, and after one of our party ordered their burger the waiter said, "that's a really bad choice", we should have taken the hint and left right then! The burgers were very dismal and possible the worst I have ever eaten, firstly the menu alerts you they are all served pink, all 3 of ours were well done, dry and crumbly. They are definitely not grilled, there is a reason why you can't order burgers until 1:30 its because they need and hour to be baked in the oven. Just like some dirty old rissoles served up at school camp. What was most annoying was the strange waiter who stood at our table whilst we all took our first bite smiling weirdly and then returned and asked if we enjoyed our meals. We all said it was "OK" commenting the chips were delicious, they took this as a complaint. The bun was terrible, tasted 3 days old. The lettuce was the white part of the leaf, the bacon wasn't even crispy, the egg in the burger was even dry and the pickle was the size of a peanut. I think the chef's really need to travel to understand what a good burger is all about, hell they don't even need to leave Melbourne, get across town to Huxtaburger or even around the corner to Macca's they seriously do a better job then these amateurs. The service was terrible, we twice ordered water and it failed to arrive, other drinks we had to ask more than once to get and then the simple exercise of paying the bill was agonising as the strange waiter drew a complete blank as to what we had ordered. Don't come here for a Burger, get a takeaway coffee and run! That 1 star was for the coffee.
