Stopped in by chance and got to see my first ever Basquiat in person. They were so friendly in there responding to any questions and didn’t mind us taking some time to take some pictures with some of the artwork. Amazing place, so happy to have stopped by, absolutely made my day.

I have purchased beautiful original art before in New York where I currently live in the tri-state. However, I have never invested in a piece of art in a gallery as I have always felt intimidated by the art gallery scene. I was interested in a particular artist, Bisco Smith, who I discovered was sold by DTR Modern. I love everything he creates, and he is a genius. I decided to take the plunge and investigate whether or not I would be able to afford one of his pieces. As it is a pandemic, there were many factors I needed to consider as part of my decision to invest in a piece of art at this time. Although I am fortunate as a young professional to have the means to invest in art, my biggest concern was exercising judicious responsibility. As much as I want to start collecting and building an art portfolio, doing so at a time like this could be considered irresponsible and reckless. So for me personally, this was a very big decision that I did not take lightly. There was a specific piece I fell in love with that was within a price range that I felt comfortable purchasing despite the current economic climate. After weighing the decision to purchase heavily, I realized that this painting meant so much to me on a deeper, spiritual level and I decided to purchase it. I could not be happier and this piece of art is something I will treasure forever. I feel very fortunate to own such a beautiful piece. While DTR Modern has an exquisite collection of artists, there are art galleries all over the world and the online art scene has exploded in recent years. I have a list of other pieces I would really like to buy, and I just as easily could have purchased a different piece from a different gallery that would bring me a similar level of joy and satisfaction as the piece I just acquired. THE motivating factor for me to purchase this piece other than its exquisite beauty and story was because of the Gallery Director Miranda Girard. As a former Regional Sales Director, I have experienced and worked with individuals who have a tendency to care more about a sale rather than the customer they are working with. In all of my time working in various industries, I have never experienced a level of professionalism and commitment to customer service than I have with Miranda. Not only is she an incredible artist herself, her love and passion for art truly speaks volumes above everything I have experienced. Her approach is thoughtful, attentive, and personal. She truly cares about her clients and the value that art can have in their lives. This isn’t a job for her, it’s a passion and it is evident in how she approaches every aspect of her role. Not only did she help me find the perfect piece, she has started what I hope to be a long term relationship for art acquisition in the coming years, and I think that relationship piece is so important when making any decision to purchase a piece of art. I am writing this review specifically to give anyone considering starting to collect peace of mind that they can do so without pressure at DTR Modern. As art is a very creative industry, having the experience and support of professionals who truly care about their artists and understand art is everything. Although the Boston location is not in my area, I look forward to my continued relationship with DTR Modern and Miranda specifically in the coming years. I will certainly be making a special trip to the Boston gallery at the conclusion of the pandemic, and for those who currently reside in the Boston area; please do not hesitate to stop at this location where you will be undoubtedly welcomed, valued, and supported. To say I am a happy customer would be an understatement.

Google
WARNING! DTR Modern Gallery sold me a Miro art work called Homage to Joan Prats for $28,000, which the salesperson Diana Stelin represented to be fair market value and when I tried to sell it in 2013 I was told by three galleries in Boston, New Yrok and Los Angeles that is was only worth $3000! DO NOT BUY FROM ANY GALLERY UNLESS YOU GET AN INDEPENDENT APPRAISAL

This gallery is so beautiful and representative of so many unique artists. Everyone that works here is also very warm, inviting and full of insight, reflecting the overall ambiance of the gallery itself. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
DTR modern is a beautiful gallery on Newbury Street in Boston. The gallery regularly boasts interesting artwork in their front window that always invites me in. Each time I've walked in, the staff have been nothing but warm and welcoming. Although I'm not the most well-versed in art history, the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and I've enjoyed listening to them speak about the art and the gallery. They have a passion for this gallery specifically, which is evident when you walk throughout and see them interacting with artists or customers. While I haven't decided on a piece I'd like to purchase, the staff are always accommodating and don't seem to mind if I ask them a lot of questions. Highly recommend this gallery whether you're a serious buyer or just looking for an excuse to admire some beautiful artwork!

Yelp
Do you ever walk through the MOMA wondering if you could ever get a world renown piece of modern art? Well, DTR Modern Galleries is the place for you. Walking in here is like seeing a chapter from a modern art history book. Some artists you may not recognize, but they are lauded as the masters of modern art from the 20th century. So yes, the art is pricey, but the gallery is worth a visit. The owners & staff are super friendly and willing to talk to anyone who is interested.

Yelp
An amazing selection (Warhol, Hirst, etc) of modern and contemporary art - I'm always alerted to a new artist every time I go in. Amazing service and fair pricing!

Yelp
For Boston this gallery provides modern, contemporary works in contrast to most of Boston that is conservative and predictable. They have the classics for sale as well, but if you are looking for modern and even some pop art this is the place.
