Google
Pork rice had pretty good flavour, but it was minced instead of the minced pork belly which I prefer. The noodles was just ok for me, wasn't outstanding. The fried bread stick with oyster dish was really good though. Good flavour and actually the combinations was well done.

Google
My Taiwanese friend brought me here and said this is one of the best places in Taipei to try the real taste of Tainnan dishes. She was absolutely right. I was impressed by every single dish I had. They were all delicious and affordable! My favourite dish must be the braised pork rice noodles and the seasonal vegetables. I’m definitely coming back next time!

Google
Most of the dishes were pretty good, especially the fried rice.

Place a bit hot, air-conditioning not sufficient especially on summer days. Place is also a bit old and dark.

Google
The food here was amazing. We came here specifically for the noodles and it didn’t disappoint. All the dishes tasted wonderful and the price was reasonable. The sliced pork was very good. The fried cabbages with prawns was surprisingly good. Wish I could come back again and try more things on the menu. Definitely recommended.

Google
I wanted to give it a 5 stars as we used to go weekly for their famous braised pork rice and noodles, and all the other menu items. Food season used to be balanced to our palatte. The last few time we dined in we complained about some of our favorite items being salty and stale. Unfortunately, quality is not as consistent and good as before but still good enough for us to revisit.

Google
The food quality has been consistent over the years. I like Du Hsiao Yueh for the clean environment and good service, a restaurant where I could enjoy delicious Taiwanese food at affordable prices. Highly recommend the lu rou fan (braised pork rice), must order! Total bill was around USD40 for two pax.

Yelp
Had lunch myself , it's very original taste comparing to Tai nan Store.. I was wondering if there is a location In NYC, which they don't, because they said they had some places in HK and China mainland all didn't taste as good as Taiwan store.. interesting. Must try the shrimp noodle and the fish belly ... they are amazing !!!

Yelp
4.5 Long overdue as this has been a staple of our's. #1 because it is so close to base and in our favorite area of Taipei, #2 just tastes damn good, #3 fair prices. Everything is delicious. A long standing restaurant where there is tons of competition and traffic. The consistency has stayed true and delightful. Small plates are always the way to go and they have found a fast yet repetitively positive way to deliver. This is a nostalgic and everlasting place for us for all those reasons. It's like home cooking but for the masses and thats what we appreciate so much. Its on repeat basically for every visit to Taipei.

Yelp
We got their famous noodles. It is a small portion. I think it was good, but nothing that particularly stood out about it. There is a mandatory tipping % applied to dine in orders. We really liked the fried mussels! So flavorful, especially with the white pepper powder to dip in.

Yelp
100 year history, time tested taiwanese dishes and easy ordering noodles minced pork, sausages, fried oysters and squid, veggies, chicken, enjoyed it

Yelp
A historic noodle restaurant. Very delicious. Food here is simple but delicious. We love their street style noodles.

Yelp
A popular restaurant serving Southern Taiwanese food that has multiple locations around the city and has been in business for over a 100 years. In addition to the classic Tainan food they also have classics like three cups chicken on the menu. Food: 3.75 stars Service: 3.5 stars Value: 4 stars Overall: 3.75 stars Recommendations: Dry Danzai noodles, Shrimp roll, dry vermicelli noodles, pig oil rice When you walk into this restaurant you will immediately see the noodle making session. If you come here you definitely need to order the noodles. The dan zai noodles are really outstanding here. The shrimp roll is also very good and I recommend ordering this dish as well.

Yelp
I decided to try the Tu Hsiao Yueh restaurant in Taipei after trying the original one in Tainan and I was a bit disappointed to be honest. I would give this place a 3.5 star compared to the 5 star rating I have to the original restaurant. I feel like this chain restaurant in Taipei is more geared towards tourists and the flavors are 'diluted' somewhat. I ordered almost the same dishes I did in Tainan and you can see the pictures of these compared to original are different. The tofu was not crispy at all, it was sitting on some liquid juice that made is soggy. The noodles were good but the flavor was not as rich as it was in Tainan. Even the oysters did not taste as fresh. Only item I really enjoyed was the fried shrimp roll. If you ask me, I would not eat at this restaurant in Taipei and would highly recommend going to Tainan to try the original place with the pork being stewed for hours adding rich flavor to the dishes. Plan to go to Tainan to enjoy this Taiwanese delicacy and you will be surprised the difference!

Yelp
Traditional, yup. Clean, yup. Fast, yup. Price - Traditional Taiwanese Noodles (Dry and Soup) $50 TWD per bowl ~ $1.56 USD - Braised Pork Rice $15 TWD ~ $0.47 USD Tina's Travel and Tabloid - Friend recommended this place to us and we met her up. - Located about five minutes away from the Zhongxiao Dunhua MTR Station. - Great place to share the food! This place is pretty spacious I thought, but for big groups I'm sure you have to reserve so plan ahead or go early. - Milkfish can't be find just anywhere, order it! - Very homey dishes even though it's not my hometown!

Yelp
I came to 度小月擔仔麵 of course to enjoy a bowl of noodle! We arrived around 3:30 pm and got seated right away. Tu Hsiao Yueh has been opened since 1894 originating from Southern Taiwan. The broth is complex with a great umami taste. It might not be the original version of 擔仔麵 which was essentially a street food. But a tourist, it was conveniently located in a must visit tourist area.

Yelp
My favorite, go there every time I m back from the states. Everything on the menu is top notch

Yelp
I haven't been back here in years. Right when you walk in, you see the person making all the noodles old school style by the entrance. I always come for their most basic items, which range around NT35-50 a dish, but they now have a minimum of NT100 per person. If you order any other stir fried items on the menu, they range NT200-350 or more each, but I'm glad they kept the original items at a reasonable price (though with smaller portions.) - Dan zai noodles: their signature dish - only NT50. You can get it dry or with soup - I usually get it with soup. It's the same minced meat that you get on the rice. You can also get this with rice noodles or vermicelli - Minced meat rice (肉燥飯): only NT35 - Crispy chicken roll: NT160 - good flavor, comes with the salt and pepper from salt and pepper chicken Other notes: - Bathrooms are clean. - No outside drinks. They have complimentary tea, but water is by the bottle. - There's a 10% service fee added on - They're open all day (they don't close in the afternoon like some of the mom and shop places do) Since we stuck to more basic items, our bill was really cheap.

Yelp
This place is perfect if you are looking for a quick but delicious meal. If you come here with friends, you all have to try their signature 擔仔麵 which I always get with soup rather than dry. In addition to the noodles, get some 小菜to share; honestly, everything on their menu is pretty good. I especially recommend their deep fried oysters and the bitter gourd dish. In terms of seating, there is usually a wait if you come during the normal meal times, but the waiting times usually aren't that bad unless you come in a big group. The decor is simple and clean and prices are pretty fair as well. This is a great place to take tourists to try some local taiwanese dishes (especially if they are wary of the questionable hygiene at night markets).

Yelp
Amazing taste of authentic Taiwanese food. Portions are small, so it's more meant to be a shared plates place and prices are a bit higher than some of the other street food you might be accustomed to finding in Taipei. However, quality was on point, service was amazing (staff explained dishes well and made note of things to leave out), and the food wasn't overly oily or fatty.

Yelp
This place is becoming a tourist spot because the WORD has gotten out!! It's famous for it's noodles soups and some tofu and veggie dishes. This place claims that it's been around since the late 1800's, however I am not sure I buy into it. In Taiwan, everything is so hyped, by the time I find out the truth, nothing is ever the real truth....LOL. Anyways, the food here is the bomb and I like just about most of the things on the menu. Try it and let me know what you think? I like it, but you may or may not right?

Yelp
I came here with my ABC friends and I have to admit I wasn't so keen on this since I was born and raised in Taipei and I never even thought about going to an actual restaurant to eat their minced pork over rice vermicelli. It is really a street dish at best. We ordered their signature minced pork over rice vermicelli,Taiwanese fish roe, deep fried pork intestine and Tainan style shrimp roll. They all taste pretty good but nothing to make me go crazy about. The price here is a bit higher than what you would get on the street or a less fancy restaurant. If you are a tourist, this is a good spot to check out a few of Taiwan's famous street eats.

Yelp
I've been coming here as a kid and the food is always delicious. Apparently the price has gone up, but whatever it's totally worth it. Two bowls of noodles for NT100 works for me. I always get a mix of the soup noodle bowl, dry noodle bowl with some fried tofu and peppered beef. I believe they cater now to a lot of tourists so that might be the reason for the price increase. Food comes out fast so it's a great place to eat and go.

Yelp
My first time there was many years ago, they gave me the wrong set menu dishes without any apology and never remediated their mistake thus i waited almost 5 plus year and decided to give it another try. Nothing impressive, mostly Japanese tourist would try this place. Just ok to my taste....

Es C.

Yelp
Salt and pepper deep fried pork, ginger chicken were good. Must haves: pork rice and noodles with Taiwanese bean sauce. The YongKang Road location is smaller but convenient too!

Yelp
Came here since I was a kid this place has the best 擔仔麵 hands down. Also a honorable mention is their 肉燥飯 even though it's a bit pricey but definitely nothing compared to the states. A filling and delicious meal for less than 4 dollars (120nt) what more can you ask for. Also this place is definitely a tourist favorite. OG Tainan food.

Yelp
DELICIOUS traditional slack season dan tzai noodles and you can also find many Taiwanese specialties if you are more reluctant on trying them on the streets. I would probably recommend coming with at least a party of 3 or 4 as it is family serving and that way you can try more dishes. Definitely give their slack season noodles a try (I personally like it with soup) and their grounded meat rice bowl, both you can see the guy making it on the side as you enter the restaurant. The rice and noodles portion aren't very big so order side dishes with them. My personal favourites are the fried oysters, the tofu, squid, and the fried taro cakes to end the meal. If you're not sure what to get, ask the servers for recommendation, all the waitresses have been very friendly and helpful everytime I've visited.

Yelp
Noodle is a lot different than the usual version I have. A little sour taste in the broth. Service is none existent. They sat us in a big table warning us that they may seat others with us. But instead, it was backed up to the employee closet. Employees were going into the closet getting their stuff out while we were trying to eat. Ruined the whole experience.
google avatar

Aaron L.

Yelp
Everything on the menu is good. The 擔仔麵 is delicious. There's typically a wait, but you still get seated fairly quickly. It's cheaper than you'd expect, which is admirable considering how busy it gets and how nice the decor is. Winners eat here.

Yelp
My son came here after wandering around Yong Kang Street looking for food other than Din Tai Fong. I had the mullet roe fried rice and fried oysters. Both were really decent. I did not try their signature noodle soup dish, but this is definitely place to try if you have been craving it. the meat over rice dish that my son has was okay but definitely not the best on his list. This place is a great place for folks who can't order in Chinese b/c all their dishes have photos to go with.

Yelp
Everything looks good on the menu - but it tastes only ok. There are better tasting places for sure for these same dishes they have on the menu. BUT! This is a good place to take tourists if they are older or dont want traditional 'street food experience+environment" etc. The dishes are typical/local taiwanese dishes and dining environment is relatively good. Service is only ok too.

Yelp
So delicious! Clean, classic but modern Chinese decor. They make their famous rice noodles right in the waiting area. Dishes are on the smaller portion side, but you're in Taiwan so there's food everywhere you go anyways. The tea is good too!

Yelp
went to the original location, a small stall in zhongshan but it was not open yet. ventured around and came upon this location in Da'an around lunch time so decided to stop by to try their Danza noodles. It is required to spend 100 nt if dine in, so i got take out of the danza noodle. theres a guy sitting in the front of the restaurant specifically making the noodle. came with 2 container, one with noodles, minced meat and a shrimp of top and another container of shrimp soup. overall, i was a bit disappointed because it didn't taste as good as I imagined it. the noodles were too soft, did not have a good texture. It was kind of mushy. the minced meat with radish was flavorful. maybe the original stall would've have tasted better. this place was very modern and nice. probably catered more to tourists.

Yelp
This place is amazeballs. Their danzhi mien lives up to the hype and it's cheap. The portions are smaller (if you're used to American portions) but this is perfect since it allows you to try a bunch of different dishes. Depending on when you come, it'll either be a wait or you can get seated within a few minutes.

Jamie M D.

Yelp
this place is the bomb, simple food, packs big punch on the taste. The mince pork rice beings back my childhood memories, not too much fat not too oily, just right. Try the fried tofu too, they use egg tofu.

annie y.

Yelp
Delicious! Love the noodle and rice dishes here! The fried shrimp rolls were also very good
google avatar

Orchid M.

Yelp
Always loved what they offer. Love their noodles and the soup base, very authentic Tainan street food. Love the shrimp rolls very crunchy and fresh. They have a location in the 桃園airport too. Great to have the taste home flavor before leaving Taiwan!
google avatar

Kailin W.

Yelp
High end street food hailing from south of taiwan. The interior is attractive because the restaurant has imitated vintage chinese style therefore the atmosphere seems like it brings you back to the past. When you enter I think it's also very interesting to see that they make the classic Tainan oily noodles in an old fashioned kitchen so you can see what it's like when they make food in the past. It's clean and the noodles is a little bit pricey because it's considered street food but it definitely carries a taste where I can't seem to get anywhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best Taiwanese food in Town!!!. Fried eel with garlic is our group favorite!!!

Aaron Y.

Yelp
Famous restaurant for tourists. The namesake noodles are good value but the dishes are on the expensive side for Taiwan.

CC C.

Yelp
Love this place. Serves southern Taiwanese food which is not too greasy or too bland. Most of the food on the menu are delish. I can sit here and type how wonderful their food taste, but you still won't know it until you try.
