The tall AA male was pleasant and apologized for the pin pad swipe not working so I had to go to another register while other people were helped quicker, on the other register. Not so busy. Lady in the aisle could've been more pleasant.

Very unpleasant experience at this location this morning. One of the staff members was extremely rude and snapped at me while I was simply helping to hold open the locked cabinet in the chocolate section. I was visiting with a friend who was choosing chocolates, and I held the cabinet door open so she could pick the ones she wanted. The staff who had unlocked the cabinet suddenly raised her voice, almost yelling, “You’re going to break the door!” I was completely taken aback by such an unnecessarily rude and unprofessional reaction toward a customer who was just trying to help. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on how the store is managed, especially given how disorganized the location looked.

I was worried this location might shock me and not be slow and understaffed with staff who don’t look miserable and don’t care or k ow anything. Luckily, there was only one surprise - there seemed to be plenty of staff, with four at the front register alone. But no worries, because one of them was sitting around doing nothing, one appeared to be a manager shadowing a new guy, there was the new guy who was clueless, and one woman who seemed to be normal-ish and was ringing people up. Seriously, the Walgreens and Duane Reede experience these days is embarrassingly bad. The company should be ashamed. I would recommend any other option you could possibly have before I would recommend ever going to this or their other locations. Terrible customer service.

Needed a prescription filled last minute while in town for work. Storm King provided excellent service and went above and beyond to work with my doctor & insurance to get everything squared away. 5 stars, thank you Storm!

Laura H. is a gem. She vaccinated my whole family with two vaccines each efficiently and virtually painlessly! We are lucky she is at our neighborhood pharmacy.

This large convenience store does its job perfectly, offering a wide variety of items that travelers might need.

Put on hold for 45 mins with “3+ people” ahead of me. Waited my turn just for the answering machine to say call back later and hung up on me.

It can get crowded but just depends on time and day. Staff was nice and friendly. I think if you already know what you want to buy and just grab and go it's fine. I wouldn't be taking my time and walking around.

Despite the reviews, I came in for some sleep aid as I am traveling. I was greeted at the door and when I asked where I could find their products, I was cheerfully taken to the section that contained what I was looking for. At the register, everyone was very nice, wishing me a good evening as I departed.

I was looking for diabetes medicine, so I called in advance and asked if they had it. A woman confirmed they had the medicine available, as the CVS next to my home said it would take two weeks for them to get the medicine. Upon arrival, the pharmacist determined my diabetes medicine prescription was not per NYC standards. I asked if they at least had the medicine. My plan was to call my provider and have them send my prescription to this pharmacy. The pharmacist responded that he didn't have to answer my question and was quite rude. It felt like he couldn't tolerate me standing there. After returning to my neighborhood, I went to my local CVS and asked if the prescription was really invalid. The local pharmacist confirmed there was nothing wrong with the prescription and that they could get my medicine if I could wait. I feel like I was discriminated against for no reason.

Was in the area and stopped by this Duane Reade to pick up a few items and found it to be understaffed and the employees that were there seemed unhappy. Ended up waiting on line for a while for what should had been a quick stop.

Simply called to ask if a medication was in stock as my prescription has been unfilled for 20+ days. The pharmacist literally screamed at me and hung up mid sentence and put me on hope for 30 minutes when I called back. Find another pharmacy.

duane reade on 6th ave and 28 st in nyc has very rude staff.. they ignored customer and refused to assist with basic request of item location .

Bring a good book. You are going to be here for a loooong tome to get an Rx filled. I second what the last guy said. So apathetic. I admittedly am not from here but so maybe this is the way NY pharmacies are.

I must say during a pandemic like this it's nice to go into a store and deal with a person like Anna at the pharmacy. She was very nice,helpful and knowledgeable about the item I was looking for . Thank you Duane Reade for being open at a time like this and most of all Thank You Anna

I am so shocked this place has not had a yelp! review. Figure to just start it because this place has been around for so long, I have been to this location for so many years. Yet today, I had been provided services that were not only exceptional and professional but highly regarded that it prompted me to go on yelp! I had some hiccups with the pricing at the register that was deemed a bit frustrating at first. Another associate James, came by to help fix the situation right away. Was very thankful and he was extremely cordial and absolutely understanding about everything. He also asked to complete a survey (which, by the way, I have NEVER ever done despite how many times I was asked to)... and today I did that in a heartbeat; in order to commend James and his efforts. The overall location is VERY clean. Staff and managers are usually on the ball. I would definitely recommend this location since there are a lot of out-of-town guests staying at nearby apts, etc. This would be an idea place to pick up the essentials. I would avoid lunch time since there is usually a line. I have also tried the pharmacy - depending on the technician, some are friendly and some are just sort of okay... just have to work with that. Make sure you ask about your medications, the availability, the prices, etc. They also have text msg service available once your order is ready. Most of the time, the turnaround is quick. As for stock, it is not the largest store. The one on 34th St/8th is a monster, with 2 floors. This location will generally have the main things so you can also call in advance to have it checked out prior to your arrival. Or if not, just make a quick stop to another one - everything is in close proximity anyways. Looking forward to the next visit, and to see James get promoted to another level. He really has shown superior qualities to go above and beyond. Thank you.

the worst pharmacy in nyc. pathetic service, nasty clerks, make constant mistakes, and unapologetic. they all hate their jobs so avoid at all costs.

They had the peanut butter lovers reeses! 10/10 would definitely visit again. I gotta type more to meet the character minimum but just know this review is all about how satisfied I was that they had the elusive Reeses

Employees are nice but them seem to be very short staffed. Nothing is ever stocked on the shelves. Drink selection/stock is the worst I've seen in any NYC store.

Kinda hard to navigate since only some aisles are marked and most shelves are blocked by anti-theft devices, requiring the staff to unlock them for you if you want to look at an item. Staff is helpful but glacial. Not a good selection of cruelty-free beauty products. Fairly big store with a large selection otherwise.

I want to sing a song to the staff members. I want to sing "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper, because I've never seen such blasé faces. Duane Reade, please support your team members better.

The employees who work in the front of the store are usually quite nice and pleasant, this review does not reflect them. The pharmacy, however, is incompetent. Get your prescriptions elsewhere. All of the employees I've encountered in the pharmacy are extremely rude and unhelpful. They've given me the wrong number of pills. They're frequently out of one of my prescriptions. The pharmacist told me she couldn't fill my prescription (which was sent to the now closed Duane Reade on 8th but was supposed to be transferred to this location). I was in the middle of asking her why it couldn't be refilled and she said "Next," and started "helping" the next person. This week, the pharmacist had to ask me my name four times because she kept walking away from me to go talk to someone in the back. She kept coming back to the register with a prescription, asking me my name, then getting a different prescription. I finally got the prescription with my name. The package and label were fine. I opened it later to find that I was given half the number of pills. HALF. The pharmacy closes before 8pm, despite what their website says. It is also closed on weekends, which is very unhelpful. This pharmacy is trash, and I'm having all of my prescriptions transferred to CVS.

Please...stay away from this place. After what happened the other day I should've known to not come back. I only came here regularly since it's near my campus. I will not be returning. Problem 1: The lines. Oh wait...there are no lines. People just stand there cramped between shelves while waiting to check out. Problem 2: The man who is, I guess, the manager tried to sell me a VERY expensive and overly priced flash drive. I asked him "Do you have anything less expensive?" He says "No, sorry." Even though within his and my eye shot, there were two that were at least 10 dollars less and seemingly good quality. I asked and bought the lesser priced one. Problem 3: The cashiers can be RUDE. The other night I went here after class. The girl called me up to where she was standing. I walked there. Apparently, she "moved" to the other side and said, "Uh, hello?" I got confused and instead of choosing to correct her, I quickly put my things on her side so I could leave. Then, when she hands me my receipt, she THROWS it at me. Think I'm kidding? She literally threw it in my direction. I was more than shocked. I hope she sees this because I will never ever return there.

I've never been in a Duane Reade when I needed to ask for assistance. I pretty much know what I want and what I'm looking for. And besides the staff doesn't look particularly interested in helping you out. So, when I get to the register things tend to move smoothly (unless the lines are long) because I have my rewards card in hand, my go-green bag out, and my cash ready. So, I tend to avoid shopping here before 9AM or during the lunch rush because the lines are ridiculously long, and there may be separate lines for each register or one line waiting (and people wait to be called by the next available cashier, which is ridiculous). There's nothing spectacular about this location, except for the fact that I worked in the area for a while (I was literally right next door) and so it was a really nice convenience to just leave the office to pick up things I needed. While coworkers took cigarette breaks, I took my own version of a "cig-break" (runs to DR, Starbucks, or Guy & Gallard)...that way I leveled the playing field for "breaks" without having to pick up a smoking habit. I was in the area yesterday and stopped in here to pick up some things when I spotted these cookies. I love Duane Reade's Delish products and my latest craze are their PB&J and Raspberry Bloom cookies. They also produce some great eco-friendly products. This DR store and me are like an old married couple, although we're use to each other every once in a blue moon it surprises me.

I really liked me some Duanne Reade! There were actually locally made items on the shelves. We scored with some dark chocolate peanut butter made in Brooklyn without all sorts of crap in it. If you are visiting NYC its a good idea to stop here and get water and supplies. The water at your hotel is likely to cost an arm and a leg. Yes, service can be spotty but no one offended.

Website says open 24/7 so I hopped over there on Saturday because I needed my medication. It was closed and I asked when it would be open the cashier shrugged and said "not today." I was annoyed. Went back the next day in dire need of my medication so that I didn't have a seizure and again they were closed!!! Like WTF this isn't some small town in the middle of no where, this is midtown Manhattan!!!! People need medication even on the weekends. Mind you, I believe this is only the location 333 7th Avenue. But if you are going to suck and not be open, at least change the hours on your website. The store is also incredibly disorganized and dirty. Will not use this pharmacy again.

Yesterday, I came into this Duane Reade to avoid a man on the street who was following me. (I'm 17 and female.) While I was inside, I called my mom and asked her to meet me there. As I walked through one of the aisles, a staff member asked me if I needed help finding anything. I told her why I had come in. Immediately, she called over another staff member; they asked me what the man was wearing; and they both checked outside to see if he was still there. The second staff member even offered to walk with me until I was out of the area where he'd been following me. When I thanked her but said that I would just wait here until my mother arrived, they both told me to stay in the back of the store and that they would keep an eye on the door and deal with the man if he came in. I cannot possibly express the sheer kindness and protection that these women offered me.

This store is surprisingly well organized. Service a little soulless but hey, it's a midtown convenience store.

Its okay if you are familiar with pharmacies and how they operate, otherwise you may run into some trouble. I have been coming here for a year now. It is convenient and the pharmacist know me now. It's not that bad if you know the rules and regs on medicine. I really don;t think it is that bad.
