Travel Guide to Dubrovnik, Croatia

"Built between the 13th and 17th centuries and enclosing the Old Town entirely, the walls are a “must-see,” offering amazing “views of the terracotta rooftops, the sparkling Adriatic, and the surrounding fortifications,” according to Andrea Lovrić. Keep an eye out for Minčeta Fortress and Fort Lovrijenac (both appeared in Game of Thrones). Other Old Town highlights for fans include the Jesuit Staircase (site of Cersei Lannister’s “Walk of Shame”), the Ploče Gate, and St. Dominic Street (which connects Ploče Gate with Stradun)." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Walked the walls 2017 ,not more than about £8 . Great views . But now I see it priced at 40 euros . It's great to do at the time, but if I think now the country joined the euro, the old town looks to be a rip-off

Breathtaking view on an old city centre. Price of a ticket is very high(40€) but includes entrance to the museums. One will need at least hour and a half to make a whole walk and if U will go to the museum you will need more time. But this is a time very well spent

Summer break in Dubrovnik Visiting the City Walls of Dubrovnik has been on my bucket list for years—mainly because of Game of Thrones, and it did not disappoint! Walking along the ancient walls felt like stepping straight into King’s Landing. Every corner revealed a familiar scene from the series, with breathtaking views of the old town, terracotta rooftops, and the sparkling Adriatic Sea. I truly enjoyed every minute of it—the mix of history, cinematic nostalgia, and stunning scenery made it one of the highlights of my trip. Just a heads-up: there are a lot of stairs, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring some water, especially in the summer heat. It’s absolutely worth it!

It was pretty quiet in the evening. Be prepared to climb a lot of stairs, but the views are totally worth it from every part of the old city wall! There are plenty of spots where you can take a break and admire the beautiful old buildings, historic architecture, and the sea. It takes around 90 to 120 minutes to walk all the way around the old town. There are stops and cafés along the way where you can sit and relax.

A must do when in Dubrovnik! Took me about an hour to walk the entire path. Highly recommend going in the morning when crowds are minimal, I went at 9:30 and there were minimal people. Also recommend purchasing the Dubrovnik Pass which not only includes the walls (pays for itself here) but also free bus transportation within the city, free museums, and discounts at restaurants.

Changed from years ago when could walk walls free of charge. Now 25 euros although if get dubrovnik pass allows entry into a number of historical sites. The walk offers excellent views of the inner city and surrounds. Can start at a number of different gates. Although walk in one direction around the walls and towers. At different locations you can look around various displays. Also several cafes along the route. Takes a good 2 to 3 hours to complete entire walls.

The city walls of Dubrovnik are one of the most amazing historical treasures I have ever seen. Walking along the walls is an unforgettable experience – you get to admire not only the impressive ancient stonework but also panoramic views of the entire city and the azure sea. The pathways on the walls are well-maintained and provide various perspectives of Dubrovnik, its rooftops, squares, and the surrounding landscape. What’s also fascinating is that the walls have been preserved in excellent condition, and walking along them truly transports you back to medieval times. If you love history or want to experience a piece of the city’s past, walking along the walls is definitely a must. I highly recommend it if you visit Dubrovnik!
