This spot in East San Jose is a great place for Vietnamese snacks, fresh dishes, and drinks. We often stop by to grab a dessert drink and some tofu. Their selection of fried tofu is impressive, with the lemongrass fried tofu being particularly popular, often selling out quickly. I sometimes get the rice crackers as well, though I wish they came in smaller portions since they take a while to finish. The dessert drinks are refreshing, with numerous options and combinations to choose from, and they provide ice separately. In addition to snacks, they offer a variety of fresh foods. Although I haven't tried them yet since I usually visit a nearby Vietnamese restaurant for those, it seems like a great place for a quick grab-and-go meal. I also enjoy their fried Chinese donuts. The store accepts credit cards, and it's best to visit around lunchtime as some items sell out quickly. On one occasion, we visited late in the afternoon and found that many items were already gone, and we couldn't get what we wanted.

I am posting this so the shop can improve their cleanliness. Unfortunately, I bought a box of Banh Bao Chi and banh bao this past Sunday. They all came with hair within the food. Also there was no price tag for each food.

Stopped here to pick up some snacks. Walking into the place brought me back to my younger years when mom used to make all of these five eateries. Bought glutinous rice with Pandan and coconut. Fantastic! Also, I got the mung bean balls in ginger broth topped with peanuts. It's almost as good as mom's. Good comfort food at a fair market price. The ladies working were helpful and friendly. Missing a bit of home, so there.

On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at approximately 5:45 PM, I visited Đức Phương Tofu with the intention of purchasing the last remaining "bánh tét." I proceeded to the checkout line and waited for my turn. When I reached the counter and presented the item for payment, the cashier informed me it was "not for sale," then took it from me to keep for herself. This is an unacceptable and deeply unprofessional business practice. As a result of this incident, I will no longer be patronizing your establishment. There are other reputable businesses in the area that value their customers and demonstrate professional integrity.

Google
Rude behavior. They don’t allow us to pay with a card unless the total was over $20, so I bought extra things to hit the minimum. After paying, I had a question about the prices of the stuff I bought so I could come back with exact cash next time I want to buy again. I was met with a condescending attitude from the lady at the counter, who insisted she put the receipt in my bag when she didn’t. All she put was the copy of the total price, without the items listed. Then her coworker commented and acted like there was too much “yapping” going on. It’s disappointing as a Vietnamese person trying to support Vietnamese businesses that acts like customers can’t ask for the price of their foods.

Google
You have to check the bill and make sure you get the food you pay for. Once you leave they will not do anything for you. Aside from that, the best sweet soft tofu around. So silky and delicious. They have a lot of other food as well like che, snack, jello, fried tofu, sandwich and tray food. If you come later in the day, the che is $0.50 off for each. The banh beo is not good at all. Don't waste your money on that.

Google
All the foods is good, very friendly service 10/10. The pate So is Amazing crunchy and favorable, the xôi and chè us really good, I go to this place every weekend!

Vicky L.

Google
It's a takeout only place. Great tofu pudding (Dau fa). We love their "Pearl drinks" which is like tofu pudding Che! Cashier is very nice even with language barrier. Cash preferred but they do take card. We got number 6 but they ran out of the green jelly so they substituted with grass jelly. Very delicious!

Yelp
Ever wonder where older Vietnamese or Chinese people go after church? Well, this spot is the not-so-secret old G meeting place on the weekends. We walked in to pick up some silken tofu with sweet ginger syrup, and wowzers -- we walked into a store filled with grandmas and grandpas yelling their orders from across the room -- all in Vietnamese or Chinese. Almost like a scene from one of those Chinese drama series. Anyway, this spot is known for their Tofu prepared in multiple ways but they also sell snacks, banh mi sandwiches, desserts, and grab-and-go lunch plates. I would say it's a good choice for a stop on a lunch hour or even a place to pick up food while on the way home for dinner. Decent prices. Classic selection.

Yelp
Best sweetie rice is here. Great Vietnamese desserts! Has sandwiches and coffee! Love their salad $20! Has fresh soy milk green and white. Has tofu here. Would recommend this place.

Vy D.

Yelp
Terrible service! Just overly rude, the young lady in the glasses. All the lady behind the counter is rude.

Yelp
Another one of our favorite local Vietnamese grab and go spots. They have all sorts of food, drinks, and snacks to choose from. I believe it's cash only here. I always "make my own" Che and point to everything I want since I don't like the beans. Prices are pretty reasonable as well. They are popular by the locals and it could be very busy and sell out towards the end of the day so come early if there's things you want. Another favorite is the khoai mon dessert. We've tried the tofu pudding and that's pretty tasty. If you're in the mood for a savory snack they have banh mi as well. Authentic no frills Vietnamese spot in a crowded shopping center. Parking could be crazy and be backed up on the weekends so be prepared.

Yelp
Bánh ú bị hư mốc lên không được ngon và thiu bán đồ cũ không chất lượng mọi người đừng nên ăn món này kẻo đau bụng tôi không thích bánh ú này vì một cái mùi chua nhất định lên tôi không ăn được

Yelp
4+ A place that has that small corner shop field that's located in the strip mall in San Jose. They have a counter serving lots of different Vietnamese desserts, and they have sandwiches for sale as well in addition to a good variety of goods available throughout the space. The folks here are super nice. This is one of those places I love supporting. My family and I were having lunch nearby, but we stopped by this place to get some goods. I wanted one of the desserts with the coconut milk and I wanted to get some sandwiches for a long drive I was going to do later. The dessert and the sandwiches were good and reasonably priced. Definitely a good spot if you want some Viet desserts or some foods on the go.
google avatar

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Employees were overly rude and dismissive. Food is below mid. Go elsewhere for affordable viet food to go.
google avatar

Seno C.

Yelp
This is a great place for all kinds of snacks, quick to grab foods, Vietnamese desserts and freshly fried tofu. Service is fast, friendly. The place can be crowded during certain hours. Clean and spacious with lots of foods displayed besides freshly made to order desserts. The fried bananas have to be eaten right away. Otherwise the skin can become tough. The banana inside is not a lot, though. They could slice a bigger cut of banana to fry.
google avatar

Will T.

Yelp
Love this place. Be sure to come before noon on weekends or you risk them running out of things. Everything is reasonably priced and the ladies are very warm and honest despite prices not being listed anywhere. Fried tofu and banana snacks, che desserts, drinks, fast to-go food. Always worth a stop in san jose. CC accepted above $20.

Yelp
IMHO While I was waiting for my pedicurist to arrive at my hair salon, my stylist told me to visit Duc Phuong for a tea and snacks. Okay, I had time to kill... It was busy inside with a small crowd of customers. I saw a few big tables topped with wrapped food goods. I'm not Vietnamese so I had no idea what most of this stuff was. However, I was intrigued and picked up a few items. There were no prices on any of them. The cashier rang up my items and my total came to $16.50. I have no idea if that was good or bad. LOL I liked what I got. Will I go back? Maybe...

Yelp
A great go-to place for some Vietnamese treats, it's Viet galore! This is hidden in the corner of the plaza entrance across Hue. It's definitely a little nerve-wracking to come in if you don't know Vietnamese since there may be a language barrier. But all the food here ... *chefs kiss*. There are so many options from getting dou hua (tofu pudding), lots of banh dishes, che desserts, soy milk ... there's a lot and it all looks yummy.. My all-time favorite is the dou hua, coconut jelly, and cha lua. I'm not sure if they accept cards but I usually just come in with cash on hand.

Yelp
This place has horrendous customer service. Most of the employees aren't trained on how to interact with customers. We came in several times and order the Asian desserts and they always omitted for instant like shredded coconut or roasted peanuts. My husband is specifically the special dessert and the staff always acted nonchalant. Often times, we have asked to put coconut cream and ice separate because we will not eat right away. These people aren't very happy with the requests. I am sorry but people have reasons for doing that. I feel like they aren't comply with the requests because they are forcing people to make everything standardized. I am just not sure how their business is still running with the staff members is very negative. Overall, the operations aren't aligned with the company's mission. I am just numb for the fact that these people are so obnoxious. Perhaps; they are related to the owner? If you are planning on coming here and I suggested the customers find another place to shop. It's ridiculous for people to treat the customers like we are garbage..
google avatar

Thanh P.

Yelp
Poor and not clean service They want to charge $1.5 extra for ice sugar and coconut to be added. And they have a piece of giant plastic in this cup. Horrible

Vivian N.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Workers with an attitude, unwilling to correct their mistakes.

Yelp
The pandan soy milk is so good. I recently moved and became further away from my go-to tofu place for fresh soy milk, so I was happy coming across this place. I haven't tried their other menu items, but both their regular sweetened soy milk and pandan soy milk is really good.

Nancy W.

Yelp
This place is know for the soft tofu and pandan tofu dessert so go early. It get sold out by 3-4pm
google avatar

Yelp
Duc Phuong is one of those places where its hard to order if you only speak english. They have tons of signs everywhere in vietnamese and tons of delicious looking desserts but since I dont speak vietnamese I didn't really know what to order. I ended up getting some pandan soy milk, cha lua ( vietnamese ham), banh bot loc, pandan jello, and one of the che desserts. The pandan soy milk was really good, and not too sweet at all. The cha lua was really fresh and tasty. None of the cha lua is labeled so I just grabbed something that looked similar. The ladies working here are really sweet and friendly. Lots of smiles all around.

Chau P.

Yelp
Love Durian sweet rice and yuca root deserts with coconut flakes ( banh tam). Staff are very friendly. Occasionally, there is an old lady is there to help but she isn't friendly.

Dana L.

Yelp
Quality of the food at this place is bad. Yesterday i bought 3 desserts and after i ate , my stomach was hurt so bad right away. Diarrhea the whole night till morning. Be careful of their food.

Hung M.

Yelp
Bad service. Comeback to get items that is missing from the purchase. The owner want to charge extra for them. Will never con back here again. Làm ăn quá tệ với khách hàng

Yelp
Got some banana fritters, boiled fresh peanuts, bean dessert, Mochi mung bean balls dessert, and Sâm Bổ Lượng. Also got some their onion tofu too. I really liked their boiled fresh peanuts because they cooked it just right and just salty enough. Really yummy! Bean dessert and Mochi dessert in ginger sugar syrup were both delicious as well. Their onion tofu is too dry on the inside for me. I prefer another shop for my onion tofu but in a pinch I would absolutely get these as my 2nd choice.

Andy L.

Yelp
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
Literally gagging as I'm typing this. I ordered a bunch of to go food from here. I was eating the crispy rice with Chinese sausage when something black fell out and I picked up only to realize it's a cockroach. I'm so grossed out right now. I used to love coming here but never again.
google avatar

Vivian N.

Yelp
I come here mainly for the tofu drinks! I know it sounds weird but it is soooo good! I always get a number 1 which is soft tofu, pearls, grass jelly, and coconut milk! You mix it up and enjoy the richness of it all! The service here is always quick. It's not much a place to stand around and chat because they mean business. It usually busy so they just want you to get what you need and bounce. Which is understandable because it is a togo food place. They have a wide selection of Viet desserts which have all be tasty so far! They always trying to pack it in as much as possible too. They also have savory foods like rice rolls and Vietnamese sandwiches. I have not tried the sandwiches yet but the other food they have has been pretty decent. I would recommend coming in and giving it a try! But heads up to bring cash! I've only ever used cash here and unsure if they take card. So to be safe bring cash (:

Bo N.

Yelp
This place can be intimidating if you don't speak Vietnamese and there's no seating, but it's a good place to grab some Vietnamese desserts and snacks. It's in a plaza with a lot of Vietnamese restaurants, so we tend to swing by after eating lunch. My wife likes that you can customize your chè here and get exactly what you want (or really, avoid what you don't like). She also craves the tofu pudding. I like the cơm rượu. Prices aren't listed on anything and we've had a few incidents where the cashier made a mistake. Unfortunately, it's hard to know unless you are a repeat buyer. If it seems too high, maybe you should ask them to double-check. There's also a $20 minimum for credit card.
google avatar

Connie M.

Yelp
Must get the cha lua here! The one that's wrapped in pandan leaf. $7. The red string is without pepper the yellow is with pepper. My mom loved the Cha lua here it was buttery and on point fresh from the steamer. Cash only place. The che is decent. I've tried the soy milk too it's also ok. Cha lua is definitely the best item!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Bánh mì used to be good here, but not anymore. It's slightly under average. $6 each. I rather go to Tram Cream coffee place in the same plaza for banh mi. Their filling is much better with similar price. I only recommend chè here. It's better than Bambu. Chè has the right amount of sugar. Yum yum
google avatar

Vivian L.

Yelp
If you're craving some Vietnamese treats, you came to the right place! Friendly workers, organized store, and a variety of food to choose from. This place is somewhat hidden, if you walk completely pass it like me. Fortunately, my auntie was able to spot it right away. Duc Phuong has a variety of Vietnamese dessert and savory dishes to go. They even make Banh mi sandwiches, which I have yet to try. I only got desserts during my recent trip here. Treats to go: - Banh Bao Chi (with coconut flavor & peanuts), which is like a glutinous rice dumpling. (The small circular green shapes with coconut bits on it, from my food photo.) - Banh It Dira (with coconut & peanut filling), which is sticky rice cake. (Triangle-shape item, from food photo.) - Vietnamese Honey comb cake. (Pandan flavor & coconut.) (circular-shape item, from food photo.) (And for the other desserts I got, I forgot their name. Sorry. Lol! I'll try to remember it during my next visit there.) Looking forward to my next visit!

Teresa V.

Yelp
This place is a good spot for traditional Vietnamese fast food (i.e. banh mi, spring rolls, tofu, etc.) and desserts!
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Looking for some dessert after dinner a few doors down. Wandered in not knowing what to expect. Tables of snacks and pre-made foods. A drink station and a hot table of about 12 or 15 different fried foods. Most of this stuff was all new to me and didn't have a clue how to eat it. Looked fresh and inviting. Picked up a pork bun for a snack later. Last words...solid pork buns.
google avatar

Vi T.

Yelp
The owner and the worker there are really rude. The banh cuon I bought there for $45 had gone bad so we couldn't even eat it. The tofu was dried and has been sitting out with no heat lamp, per city code they must put it under a heat lamp. Avoid this place if you can!
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
Good place to pick up Vietnamese sandwiches if you are in the area. The large sandwiches are buy 4 get one free. You can ask for the pickled veggies to be wrapped up separately if you are not eating them immediately . They also offer a lot of snacks and cha lua (pork sandwich meat). Avoid peak hours as the line can be quite long.

G P.

Yelp
What we like about this place is that it's open early. My gf works the night shift and sometimes we come here after her shift. The food is hit or miss. Some is really good, some is ok, and some we found lacking. I like the spring rolls, she likes the yogurt and we both like the xoi cuc (sticky rice balls filled with mung beans and pork) and tofu pudding with ginger syrup (probably the best tofu pudding I've found so far). Their che, fried bananas and banh uot are ok. Sometimes the fried bananas are cold and we'll avoid them then. They supposedly accept credit cards but their card reader is never working so cash only.
google avatar

Tyler T.

Yelp
Had a tofu dessert here. It was decent, tasting of the same freshly made tofu that this place is mostly known for. Nothing too special, be aware that this place is cash only!
google avatar

Pei N.

Yelp
The tofu desserts are definitely good and worth it. Got a large size tofu pudding and had it for 3 times! It's smooth and you can adjust sweetness Accordingly. But the snacks are just ok..
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
I love fried tofu, and had to swing by Duc Phuong to pick some up. They have a huge variety of food items they sell here- from fried tofu to Vietnamese desserts, boba, durian shakes, food in hot trays, pre-packaged Vietnamese plates, banh mi, etc. If you're looking for a one stop shop, this is a great option. They weren't busy at 2pm on a Sunday, which was probably a sign. I tried the Fried Tofu w/Onion & Fried Tofu w/Lemongrass (both were 4 pieces/$1.25). Sadly, the lemongrass tofu was super bland and didn't have any lemongrass flavor. The fried tofu with onion was ok, but also bland and needed salt. Based on this experience, I will probably not be back. Parking in this lot can be difficult during the lunch rush since there are so many different restaurants in this small plaza; however, there are also a good amount of people leaving.
google avatar

Susann M.

Yelp
My 3rd time here throughout this 2021 so far. I live far away but when I come for massage and pedicure/eyebrows waxing at this same center as this Vietnamese bakery. I have to always stop by and stock up on all their goodies. Bought extra for my family and boss too. It's so delicious coconut milk desserts. Pickled Napa cabbage, sticky rice, and spring rolls!

Yelp
We stopped on this busy Saturday for a few Asian goodies to take on our three-hour trip. On a suggestion, for Vietnamese food and snacks on the way, we picked up a variety of small bites, including eggrolls, three different kinds of fresh rolls, and five che dessert drinks. The services from three employees we came across were efficient and friendly, except one lady behind the che and xoi bar (sweet dessert drinks and sticky rice bins) stood out as the worst service we've encountered. She has reddish Auburn hair and glasses and appears as one of the owners. There is no order that she will service who has been waiting next in line. She will take whoever yells out that they need a large order to go, especially if you are a male. I was standing and expecting an honor system happening to get service. A male customer jumped in front of me even though I told her I had been waiting as the next in line. She shrugged her shoulders, stared at my breasts, and moved on. No apologies, no regrets. The same happened to another customer that had been waiting patiently, and she skipped her and jumped to the next male customer calling out to her. If I were not on a time crunch and had not promised to pick up some food here, I would have taken my business elsewhere. Our thoughts on the few food grabs. The fresh rolls were decent, but their accompanying sauce was full of gummy starch. The egg rolls were small for $1.25 each, had little meat fillings, and had a strange and overwhelming sweetness as if there were loads of MSG in them. The che dessert drinks were overwhelmed with simple syrup. No prices are listed; you pay if you want the items, as they will pull numbers out of the air. There are many things to select from, and I don't even know how they would keep track of their price system. Prices vary daily, time of day, who is making the purchase, and who is ringing you out. This was our third time stopping in, and the prices changed each time. Crying out loud. For pricing reference, today, we spent about $80 for three small trays of fresh rolls, ten egg rolls, and five cups of sweet dessert drinks. It could have been a four-star potential, but we had to minus one star for the ridiculous "no first come, first serve policy" and another star for the sliding scales with pricing--two strikes on in our books.
google avatar

TINA L.

Yelp
This is for the owner! Please put your employees in manner class! The way the female cashier talks to customer is disrespectful n rude! Please be clear on the pricing instead of charging whatever when it's time to pay at the register!!
google avatar

Khai T.

Yelp
Overpriced and the cashier just charged whatever the price comes to her mind at the time check out. She miscalculated and did not even apologize for the mistake. I wonder how many customers got overcharged in one day. Such a bad business.

Chau P.

Yelp
I love the place very nice workers, the foods is so good 10/10, every body is so nice, friendly and the service is really fast.

Yelp
The sweet tofu is delicious! The coconut milk makes this different than the Chinese one! The Vietnamese coffee is the bomb! It does not taste like other Vietnamese coffee!!

Yelp
1 star for service. I just came in today and I was waved by the lady managing the store in the first register. She rang me up and told me my total was $16.50. I gave her the only cash I have which is a $100 bill. She handed me $2.50 in change. I told her that this was not right because I handed her a $100 bill. She then opened her register and insisted that i handed her a $20 bill which she put on the top. We went back and forth until a customer in my right walked over and told her he saw her holding up my $100 bill. I thanked him for being a Good Samaritan. She said to him "thiet ha??" Which is "really?" In vietnamese, in a very condescending tone. She asked her worker to bring up the video from the camera in the back and asked me stand on the side to wait. I asked her where did she put my $100 bill if it's not there in the register, she said she will check the camera footage. I asked the man if he saw where she put the bill and he only said that he saw her holding it up. Meanwhile, customers were staring at me as though I was a criminal. The woman came out and handed me $83.50 the register and said sorry. I was mortified by the experience and wanted to warn people to use their credit card and if you do give them $100, make sure you announce it.

Brenda L.

Yelp
I love all things tofu! This place is a small Vietnamese deli style shop that has Vietnamese sandwiches and tons of different silky tofu desserts like pandan tofu with coconut milk and sugar syrup, or tofu with durian and other tapioca. They also sell banh beo, banh cuon, rolled waffle cookie thing, and lots of different sticky rices (durian, pandan coconut, etc.) The service is friendly and service is fast. There are tons of Vietnamese dessert options. Parking lot can get tight and crowded.
google avatar

Diane Kim L.

Yelp
Did a quick run to buy some fried tofu, xoi and vietnamese yogurt. Love the durian xoi! So good it a must get if you like durian! The durian wasnt too strong. Havent had vietnamese yogurt in a while but theirs was pretty nice tang and sweetness. The tofu was good got both onion and lemongrass. Both were good. Price for everything was $15.25 not bad for what we got.

Anh C.

Yelp
I love the soy milk and desserts (tofu, bean, tapioca, etc). If you tell them you have a long drive they will provide a bag of ice to keep the food from spoiling. Their customer service is great...always with a smile!

Katie N.

Yelp
Recommendation that the shop should not get this type of banh tet from San Diego. It's frozen and not good at all.
