When they say cafe closes at 4pm, they actually mean 3pm. Having arrived at 3 previously and only having coffees and cakes on offer, we decided to come down earlier today. We arrived at 2:10, and we're told we would have a 45minute wait for lunch. Knowing that the kitchen closes at 3pm, we questioned this but were reassured that we would be able to have lunch (just no roast dinners). 45 minutes later, our buzzer went off and we arrrived at the cafe ready for food, only to be told that the kitchen was shut. Completely different to what we were previously told. Not sure why they tried to lie to us? Doesn't make sense. Essentially - do not come here if you haven't booked in advance. Can't give a review of the food as we have never managed to try it. Two of the three plants we bought from the nursery on another occasion also died pretty quickly after purchasing. All in all, a total let down really. That will be our last visit.

Lovely cake and scones/afternoon tea. Scones were fresh and soft, exactly how they should be. The walk to Restormel castle was also very good!

Absolutely lovely garden centre, eatery and shop. The cafe is superb! Such a peaceful, relaxing place with superb views. The cakes and coffees are lovely and the hot chocolate is the best around.

The shop and nursery are excellent, if pricey but all exceptional quality. However, while the café is a lovely place to sit and chat, we were very disappointed with the food this time. My favourite snack of (small) cheese scone with melted cheese and chutney at £5+ was microwaved to death; and the ciabatta pork schnitzel stack was similarly prepared - although the Waldorf salad accompanying it was delicious. The schnitzel was overfried and the pork tough from reheating. Not what you’d expect for £17.00. At these prices, you’d expect food to be freshly prepared - even with the nursery’s prestigious association.

Afternoon tea for 2, were given a voucher for a wedding for afternoon tea, on arrival to pick up our voucher we were advised bookings needed to be 48hrs in advance, anyone buying this as a gift make it clear to pre-book, I must say even on hearing that we didn't expect the final outcome the manager was very accommodating after we explained our situation and it was agreed that we could return the following day, but it didn't stop there while sitting at a table enjoying a glass of prosecco the manager returned and said she had spoken to the chef who had said if we were willing to wait 20 minutes we could have our afternoon tea and wow what a tea it was, the food was out of this world, the manager is a credit to the business and always smiling, the waitress was great too even if she did try to nick my half eaten dessert 😉, but seriously this was an incredible gift and I would highly recommend the experience, just a recommendation to anyone going here be wary of the route from Bodmin, if I go here again I will go via Lostwithiel the route although narrow has many more pass points and the hedges are not brushing both sides of the car at the same time!!

Beware of the bags of potatoes from the Deli. Bought one a few days ago and when I opened them at home they were only good for the compost heap. Staff were v pleasant and refunded me over the phone with no issues.

A very long drive along narrow country lanes. The venue itself was pleasant and we were lucky enough to be offered the last indoors table. Large outdoor area for good weather days. Nursery and shop were in the complex. Too expensive - £15 breakfast plus extra for tea/coffee. Maybe the food was organic!

Yelp
During a lovely Easter weekend at home, my boyfriend and friend requested a tourist day which should include a cream tea after our walk on the cliffs. The duchy nursery has recently done up their shop and cafe which look over the nursery and the valley below. The cafe offers a selection of sandwiches, hot meals and cakes. The cream tea was delicious with plenty of jam and clotted cream ratio to the scone and lots of tea. The cafe also provides excel by coffee and cake. The duchy is definitely my current favourite place for a cream tea when returning home and is in a lovely location. A final quick tip for any visitors, the duchy is up a cornish lane, once you've gone past the golf club, keep going and you'll find it.
