15 of the Best Hotels in Sardinia for a Taste of La Dolce Vita | Condé Nast Traveler

"On the shores of Puntaldìa, overlooking Molara and Tavolara, this family-founded coastal retreat (established by Peppino Fumagalli in 1978) emphasizes quiet luxury with candlelit dinners by Chef Umberto Vezzoli, mornings in crystalline sea waters, golf, spa rituals and elegant, light-filled interiors dressed in sun-bleached stone, warm wood and island-inspired fabrics. Recent updates include suites redesigned with Castagna 1939 and the Suite sulla Luna in collaboration with Teresa Maccapani Missoni, plus a boutique called Caraluna curated with locally crafted pieces and vintage treasures." - Nicky Swallow, Lucrezia Worthington

We loved our stay at this hotel. It's in a beautiful location overlooking the sea. It was also a nice distance away from the hustle and bustle of san teodoro but not so far as to be a pain. Are we originally thought we wanted to stay in san teodoro but in the end we were so happy that we weren't in town. It's a very unexceptional tourist town. Whereas this hotel was a wonderful relaxing respite. The beach for the hotel is not worth it since there are such spectacular beaches everywhere right around it. Definitely go to Lu Impostu  and la cintas beaches they are truly incredible beaches even though they are extremely crowded. (FYI Because of the overcrowding you must make a reservation one to two days before in order to go to Lu Impostu or cala brandichi beach.) The hotel had an excellent breakfast, beautiful amenities and a delightful pool. It was clean and the service was attentive We would recommend staying here.

Hotel is outdated, rooms and bathrooms are very old, our shower didn’t drain the water (even after they tried to “fix” it twice) bathroom had a funny smell… Reception staff (Ana) was rude… she rolled her eyes, almost every time we asked a question, we felt unwell, we didn’t feel like walking by the reception… not the hotel experience we expected … We had 4 room for 6 nights… we all felt the same way. Breakfast was nice… but staff didn’t always ask if we wanted tea or coffee. Location was nice… garden was nice.

I am writing this review with no bad intentions, but unfortunately we were quite disappointed. For a 5-star hotel at €380 per night, we expected much more. The outdoor area and the beach are lovely, but the rooms are already quite run-down (especially the bathroom) and have not been as clean as we are used to from other hotels. In addition we had a broken light in the bathroom which did not get fixed within 2 days. The fitness studio has very outdated equipment, and €22 for a super small, basic salad at lunch feels overpriced. The service was also not as friendly as we had hoped. When one of the beach umbrellas broke and fell towards my face, we expected a kind gesture or more support (also from the manager) – but there was none. For the price and 5 stars no recommendation at all.

Very solid hotel. We stayed in room 162, which had great views and a nice balcony. The beach and pools were perfect. Great snorkeling. It’s very peaceful and relaxing. The golf was challenging. Short course and very windy. A little pricey for 9 holes, but you can’t beat a course at the resort. Restaurant had good food with standard breakfast options. There is a great town within walking distance with delicious food and music at night. We loved our stay here and highly recommend it.

This hotel is a disaster. I can't understand how this hotel has 5 stars. The rooms are very old, the bathroom is a disaster, the rooms is fealty , for almost 700 euros per night forget what the toilet seat looks like. Starting from the reception to the restaurant staff, everyone takes care to make you feel unwanted. We had dinner payed and they refused our entrence in the restaurant with trousers to the knees??? We were in holiday on see , we should take a tuxedo with us? They literally walk us outside the restaurant!Attitude of superiority to rudeness. Please don't waste your vacation and money in this place!

If you are renting the basic room beware. There is a HUGE variance in what you might receive. Our friends that we were traveling with got a lovely room and roof deck. We got what can only be described as a dungeon below the bar. At first I thought how bad can it be? The ONLY hours that were quiet for our entire stay were from 1AM-6AM. There was a constant loud banging throughout the rest of the entire day. We went to the bar at some point and saw that the platform they walk on is unattached and banging right above our room. I talked to the front desk multiple times. I asked if we could switch rooms or if they could check and fix the bar platform above our room. The only option given was to pay an extra 500$ per night to upgrade. This absolutely ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing beach vacation and instead we were sleep deprived and grumpy. After 3 nights they switched us into the only available room which was a handicap accessible room. I cannot believe they even put guests in room 120, and I cannot recommend staying here.

We stayed at one of the family suites with 2 kids and 2 babies as part of a family vacation planned by my mother in law. First of all I want to say that this hotel is just not for children smaller than 4/5 years old. There is absolutely nothing for kids to do here except for playing in the pool (which they can do anywhere). There is no parks, no kids zones, absolutely nothing for kids, so beware. Secondly, the food at the one restaurant at this hotel is subpar at the least. We did the halfboard option and the breakfast is the exact same every single day. There is not a big variety in food and the quality is not very high at all. If you want a scrambled or fried egg made for you, they will charge you for it as well (which we thought was ridiculous). The bed… absolutely terrible. In every room. We reserved 4 rooms for all our family and each room had a terrible bed. By terrible I mean it felt like you’re sleeping in a hard floor. The stuffing in the pillows was old and slim. We woke up daily with lots of back pain and neck pain (mind you we are in our 30’s). Overall, the location is beautiful and views are very luxurious. But that’s about it. Bottled water will cost you €7 🤣

My husband and I came for dinner for our last night in Sardinia. Our greeting was ‘ we have a long trouser policy’ as my husband was wearing shorts at a beach resort. Ok - where was our memmo? Fortunately this omission was forgiven by us and we were escorted to our table by a maître de with a tie undone and looking disheveled. We sat down and the next maitre de enquired ‘ are you staying in the hotel? ‘ I replied ‘No.’ He then said. So you are not guests? ‘No we are staying next door’ ‘ oh so youre not staying at the resort?’ ‘No - ( with a wry smile ), and now I feel unwelcome- ‘ ( expecting him to recover himself ) But nooooo!!! He then proceeded to look down his silly nose at me and reply nonchalantly ‘ I dont know’ I walked. And so should you! The vibe and welcome at the Puntaldia marina restaurants is so much better. Go there Supercilious unwelcoming people should NOT run the floor of a restaurant. Glad I did’t tolerate such rubbish. I did go to reception to give the manager an opportunity to hear my experience but was told they were unavailable.
