Duesseldorf Airport

I think it's a good airport for it's size. You will not get lost. I just get lost on the carousel, my bad, I was waiting on a different carousel lol but the one who recognized me told me isn't you are on this plane, we are on the carousel etc. Funny experience. Can tap your card for airport cart. 🇩🇪✈️🙏🏻💗🌸

So me and my Wife were in Dusseldorf, Germany 🇩🇪 from our home in Manchester, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 as my Wife was having cosmetic surgery, It was my Wife's First visit to Germany and my First time in 20 years when I was based in Germany when I was in the British Army. Inbound - Hour and 10 minute flight from Manchester into Dusseldorf, Typically German very easy, efficient and thorough they take your picture 📸 and finger prints etc, Before we knew it we were through Security and in a Taxi to our Airbnb in Town Dusseldorf. Outbound - we had checked in online so headed straight to Security as we had Fast Track and again before we knew it we had cleared Security, The Germans are thorough but very, very efficient and again before we knew it we were in the White Monkey 🐒 bar having food and a few beers 🍻, We boarded without Issue and before we knew it we were on our way back to Manchester, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Polite and friendly staff, Plenty of staff on hand, Airport is super clean, Lots of duty free shops, plenty of toilets, only one bar 🍸, Countless taxis 🚕 where you can pay cash or card(We used Uber). 5☆ 5☆ 5☆ 5☆ 5☆ I post alot of reviews on Google and I always give my honest opinion on everything from food, cleanliness, drink, Service, value for money, setting, ambience etc and I have over 40,000,000+ views on Google alone. I have reviewed everything from Locally to me and my Wife in Manchester to travelling around going for food with my Wife whether near home to travelling around the country watching my Beloved Oldham Athletic to day trips and holidays with my Wife etc. I have reviewed everything from Restaurants to bars to beaches to beach clubs to taxis to airports to flights to beauty treatments to Barbers to hotels to Churches to Basilica to shooting ranges to hair dressers to Football stadiums etc. From Manchester to Split(Croatia), Hvar(Croatia), Supetar(Brac, Croatia),Rome(Italy), Vatican(Italy), Bezier Cap d'Agde(South of France), Montpellier(South of France), Podgorica(Montenegro), Budva(Montenegro), Tirana(Albania), Sarande(Albania), Ksamil(Albania), Krakow(Poland), Zakopane(Poland) and Santa Maria, Sal(Cape Verde).

Great airport. Very well structured. You get huge waiting halls, great arrival zone, perfect departure area. Awesome shops. Very easy to navigate. But quite awkward passport control for people flying outside of EU. Very very quick these days security check but your bags will definitely go through screening. 4 flights - 4 times had my stuff diverted for manual check 😂 If you have chance, fly through Düsseldorf. Very good spot. Plus Düsseldorf is awesome city of fashion.

I arrived by train at 1:45 a.m. There is a shuttle bus to the airport building, but only from 03:45 a.m.!!!! There is no place to sit and wait! Terribly cold! It is too far to walk with suitcases. We managed and found a taxi, for 4km of transportation, 15.00€. Nothing is open 24/7 at the airport except McDonalds. The toilets are very messy. The staff is friendly.

A few tips if going through the C Gates (non Schengen) 1 - Security for A and B gates seems to be considerably shorter, use these security lines and then walk five minutes to the C Gate area 2 - Allow PLENTY of time to get through passport control if you are a non EU citizen. Especially if there’s a Turkey flight (and there are a lot) it could take you up to an hour to get through here. On a more positive note, there’s now a lot more eating and drinking places once you do get through

The security check is total disaster. Long queue. You can easily spend 40-50 minutes waiting. There are a lot of security personal but they are idle as " there are not enough boxes, it is not us it is police" for the scanner so you can't place your luggage. As well every second bag is forwarded to manual check, way different to other airports in Europe. For sure nothing is observed. You should plan 2,5 hours before the flight to be on the safe side.

Terrible experience arriving yesterday. Only 2 desks for passport control open whilst 3 large flight were landing and entering the airpoirt. Had to wait over an hour for bagage claim and all flights were using same belt (13) so it was so crowded that not even the flight crew could collect their bags. Stroller (size fit for overhead compartment) was not on the belt but left at a completely different area at arrival. Airport should forecast busy hours and prepare appropriate staff.

Finally got my luggage back after it was delayed on arrival and then lost at the airport for 48 days. The staff who manage delayed luggage and the processes the airport has for doing so are useless. Wrote a letter of complaint to the airport setting out some easy & cheap ways they could avoid such screw-ups (based on how Wellington airport handled a similar delay much better and didn´t lose bags) but the response showed they didn´t bother reading it.
